Yes, "interesting" would be the best word to describe this competition.

GCS had rankings of:

1,1,3,4
Prairie and Jeff had:

1,2,2,3

Interesting. At the contest we host, GCS would have been named the winner, as they had more first place votes. We don't add the rankings, we look for an indication of judges consensus. Just goes to show that scoring methodology matters, and that show choir is SOOOOOO subjective! Congrats to all! Sounds like it was a great contest!

Thanks everyone!

Anyway--these are my critiques I only watched a few groups but here they are:

LaX Logan- Good show. The choreography was one of the cleanest all day. Your vocal intensity was okay. That's where I felt the show came down a bit but overall, it was a fun show. Keep doing what you're doing.

CR Jeff- Seriously a fantastic show. Super clean vocals and choreography. Excellent expression girls! The guy's were also very good in their small feature section. If there was a costuming award, you guys would have locked it up in a snap. Very cool looking stuff.

CR Prairie- Cool show guys! You have excellent vocal intensity and dynamics in your opener and closer. "Hey Mambo" was fantastic. It took the entire show up a notch. The opener was also very clean and intense. However, I did feel like I watched two ballads in your show. Overall, CONGRATS and work on bringing the other three songs up to the level of your bookends.

Janesville Craig- Overall, a good show. The choreography was overall just some great material and you performed it well. I would like to see you clean it a little more, however. You vocals were very confident and blended well but I felt like I needed a little more diction. Also, your sound is a little bright especially in your ballad. But you did a fantastic job and keep on keeping on!

GCS- I only saw your show on the TV but it did look very clean. You are all awesome people and oh so very talented. Good luck with your season.

Well, that's all I've got. If you saw our finals performance, a critique would be appreciated.

I just got back from this competition (left after prelims) and I have to say I'm suprised CR Prairie didn't finished first after the first round. The only group out of the six finalist that I did not see of the group was CR Jefferson, however from those I saw I would have definitely had Prairie in first. I wouldn't be suprised if they finish on top. I was completely blown away by their performance. Virtually, flawless! I also really enjoyed LAX Central, (always entertaining and the vocal were amazing), and I was really happy for La Crosse Logan. Their reaction to hearing they made finals was so genuine and fun to watch! Their show was extremely high energy, clean, and the vocals were great. It's nice to see them have such a great start to the year! Definitely one of my favorite groups of the day! I think they will be quite a force this season! It More thoughts later.
