Does anyone have point totals for all groups throughtout the day competition? I am assuming these are finals points. Sounds like there were alot of point deductions for a variety of reasons. Just wondering if the all girls group was in finals only because of that or were they in anyway? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, like everybody else said, all of the judges had Lights in finals even with the 20 points we were deducted. So it's not like we were just a throw-in.

Anyway, I LOVED the shows I saw on Saturday... Wheaton-Warrenville, you guys are completely fantastic! And I got to hear some of your people in solo competition and they all did a great job too. I seriously want the numbers of their voice teachers! haha. I had so much fun!!

I'm not trying to say you would not have made finals. My only point was that if neither of us got penalties, then the outcome would have been the same. Sorry for the confusion of my previous post.

Hey just as a response to that penalty brodhead got, I'm not totally sure you made finals without the penalty because we, Prospect, also got penalized 10 or more points because we went over the time limit by a minute and a half. So i wouldn't assume that you made finals without the penalty. But besides that, congrats to everyone. The competition was so much fun! Especially that t-shirt toss! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Our director read us the points and if we would have not gotten the 10 points taken off we would have been in finals in the 6th spot. But accidents happen and everyone their did an amazing job!

1 ? is lights the mixed group or the Single-Gender group? cuz i've never seen that happen b4 where a all girls group placed that high... congrats

Thank you. Lights is Mundelein's all female group. I play bass in the combo for them, and for our all guy's group, and I am in the mixed group. From what I saw, all of the groups at this competition did extremely well and should be happy with their performance. The outcome, in my mind, was interesting, but that's the conclusion that the judges came to, and that's how it is.

I have always enjoyed this competition, and am sad to know this was my last year coming. So, Thank you to the hosts, and congratulations to all who competed.

The Mundelein Lights got a 20 point deduction from our prelim performace. We still made finals even though we lost those 20 points because the feathers from our boas weren't cleared off the stage after the 25 minutes. oops...

That sucks Brodhead. I also think these little nit-picky point deductions are sort of pointless. This weekend at Holmen, there was an elevated stage in a gym and 4 steps on each side. There was a backstage crew that gave away 5pt deductions for each step a performer skipped walking up. Last year, Monona Grove performers skipped a few steps and lost something like 25 points and didn't make finals.

That is the most rediculous penalty I have EVER heard. Please... someone explain to me why this is?

also, our director said that our penalty moved us down a place going into finals, so we could have lost our shot at finals because of nitpicky-ness. it happens to the best of us.

but this was still an awesome comp i was looking forward to it for so long!

Yeah point deductions like that are hard to take...sorry guys but it was really cool to see a Single-Gender girls group not only make finals but get 2nd runner up. It was an exciting competition from start to finish and all the groups in finals i really enjoyed and it was so close between WW and Troy it was very anxious during awards.
