Thanks to you as well Brett. You gave us sooo much for our show this year. You helped us believe in a show that most of us thought was gonna flop.

Congrats Milton!! What a great season you had and it was fun to see what you were able to do this year. You are one of the hardest working and sincere groups I have known over the years. Be proud of what you accomplished this year. Seniors got quite a ride!

(Congrats to Totino and all the other choirs at Grand River ((no biases!)) I just wanted to make a shout out to the folks I know from Milton.)

First of all, though I know you said no apology is needed, I will also echo what Wes and John said. I apologize on behalf of our group for our explosion of cheering after Milton's placement was announced. Normally we are very good about being respectful to the 2nd place group and giving them a chance to celebrate. The thing is...this was so unexpected. After the captions were announced, we thought it was over. I had squeezed my friend Danny's hand and said "Well, 2nd place is still good." Then the announcer said, "1st runner-up goes to...Milton Choralation!". Things like this just don't happen...ever. Maybe once in a decade. All season we had been working so hard to win a competition, and finally, at the very end, we won. That kind of joy is hard to contain, you know? Anyway, we are sorry about our slight misconduct, but I'm sure you can understand why we reacted in the way we did.

Milton, I know if I was in your place I would be very upset, confused, and angry. It is a strange thing to win both captions and then place 2nd, one that makes very little sense. I was not able to watch your group either (stupid time conflicts...), but I heard (and I quote) that you were "unbeatable". I heard great things about your show, and will for SURE be watching it when I get the DVD. Congratulations to you

It blows my mind to think that my show choir career is over, but I'm glad it ended here

First off, I'd like to say that I loved Totino's show and can't wait to get the Finals DVD myself. =]

Yeah. I understand completely what you mean. Right after we were announced as best vocals and best choreo, we were reminding everyone that when totino would be announced as first runners up to just stand and respectfully applaud them for a job well done, and then go nuts when our name was read. so then when they read our name as first runner up, it just didn't make sense to any of us, and we just were confused.
So at that, I guess our reaction was slightly wrong as well, as we didn't even applaud, but just kinda stood there in shock.
Then the anger kinda set in. After working so long on a season, to be that close to finishing it off with beating two groups that I don't think Choralation has ever beaten, (Hastings and Totino) it just kinda stung. At first I wanted to go scream and be a Totino hater. That lasted for about three seconds, until I realized that they did nothing but perform the best that they could, and that it was silly for me to be angry at them. So now I'm just over it.

It also blows my mind to think that show choir is over. I couldn't keep my composure at all during our closer, our bow, and after our show. I think I cried out every tear inside of my body.

I wanna thank Damon for all the hard work he has poured into our group over the past four years, and everyone who has made show choir an enjoyable experience for me. It will definitely stand as the most memorable thing that I did in my time in high school.

What we had found out of the scores from after finals was...

Milton was +9 with Vocals and Choreography over us
Us(Totino) then was +11 with Band and "Other" over Milton

thats how close it was!! INSANE!!

Congrats again to Milton on a great show

Milton, after reading what others and you guys have said, im really happy to know that everyone seems to be taking it so well. I just feel that it's unfair for a show choir to win BV and BC and still not become GC. I've heard all sorts of theories as to why this happened, (the only one that seems to hold true being the costume scores) and personally i don't care as to why. It seems a cruel trick to play. I don't blame Totino in the least, since they were working their butts off to win just like everyone else. But i feel safe in saying that its just a horrible way for the judging to fall out. Everyone in that gym thought that you won, and that's how it should have been. Please don't think i mean to bash Totino for winning, but Milton should have won, and i blame the judges for having something like this happen. Hopefully, it won't happen again, and everyone can just reailize that both choirs are top-notch, reguardless of the ways things went.

The theory of this happening has been floating around for a long time. One several occasions a group has won the competition, 2nd place got the vocal, and 3rd or 4th took choreography. That's the beauty of having multiple catagories; vocal, choreography, and other. In a tight competition like yesterday, I can absolutely see a group winning vocals by 1pt, winning choreography by 1pt, and losing other by 3pts. Totally possible. I don't know what yesterdays points were exactly, but they said the difference was just 2pts.

So, even though it hadn't happened before, the idea that it could has been around for a long time. Both school should be congradulated on outstanding performances both day and night.

Also, the judges are not the ones to blame. There's no to blame. It's just the nature of the system. And I agree with jorge on not grouping everyone together

As a senior, you want to end your show choir year with a bang...I just had no idea the bang would be this BIG.

Anyway, we are sorry about our slight misconduct, but I'm sure you can understand why we reacted in the way we did.

Next I would like to congratulate EVERYONE who competed yesterday.

Hastings, I did not see your show yesterday (I was competing in the solo competition during the day and changing during Finals), but I have seen it 4 times in the past. It grew on me all season, and from what people were saying, it was AMAZING. It was an honor to place above you considering how talented you are. It was blast competing with you

Chi-Hi: I have been a fan of your show since way back at Viterbo when I first saw it. Very entertaining Congrats on a job well done!

NSP: For me, your show just "clicked" yesterday. Everything was on, and the flow was really good. You were giving 100%, and it showed. Your show really grew on me over the season as well. Good luck at Branson! Congrats to Matt for winning the solo competition! It was fierce, lol.

T-Tones: You guys are nuts, ok? Who would have thought that you guys would do so well this year? I'm so proud of you for going out there and having SO much fun. Congrats!!

I would also like to thank all of the Grand River Singers for hosting such a wonderful competition! Things ran really smoothly and the venue was perfect. Thanks!

It blows my mind to think that my show choir career is over, but I'm glad it ended here

CoS I think we can all agree that that was an energy draining day. We just kept giving it our all, which really pulled through. Warming up before the 2nd performance/ in the prayer circle I could tell we were really just feeling it, and we were ready to do the show we love. The feeling was amazing, and i'm SO proud of CoS, this has been the most fun year ever.
Congratulations to Milton, Hastings, ChiHi, North Saint Paul, Waterloo and all the other groups! We heard how close the final scores were, and that shows it could have gone any way. So it holds true that everyone had to have been amazing.
Thank you Grand River for an amazing Competition, we really appreciated it!

i would have to say that this was the craziest invite i have ever seen. i never even thought that it was possible to get both caption awards and then 1st RU.

Testostertones: this was the first time i have ever seen you guys because i didnt get to see you at Albert Lea. let's just say that we're talking to our director about the possibility of a all guy show choir. great job. i loved it! i almost forgot. Great job to the best male soloist...(sorry i dont remember his name! ahh! lol) very very good job!

Northern Lights: again, this was my first times seeing you as well. in my book, you guys deserved 3rd RU but hey, i'm not the one judging. very good job and i finally sort-of got to meet Matt. lol. the whole city-thing kinda threw me off in the day but i liked it at night. and i'm partial to City Rhythm...well because we did it this year too!! Great job and GOOD LUCK IN BRANSON!

Chi-Hi Harmonics: i got to see the show at Viterbo at the beginning of the year and i have to say that i could really see the improvement. it seemed like the show just "clicked" more. vocals werent as strong as i thought they would be but very well done in the night show!

Hastings: holy crap. i also got to see you at Viterbo and the show wasnt my fav. after watching it twice yesterday though, it might be one of my favorite shows this season. it looked as though you all put everything you had into it and that was so much fun to watch from the audience. after watching finals i thought that it was going to be very tight for the top 3 but mine and my friends' jaws just dropped after they announced 2nd RU. you guys performed an amazing show! awesome job!

Milton: you will be the talked about show choir for a while. i have never seen that happen. after the finals performances i thought that it would be a split with you and Totino, you guys taking best vocals. they were amazing (vocals that is. lol) i'm with brian on the fact that i wasnt a big fan of the choir/show after monona grove but the improvement was noticed. i think that you guys did a VERY good job and like i said before, i knew it was going to be a close one. very good job and just think, the seniors will have a very interesting memory to look back on from their last invite. lol. Awesome Job!

Totino-Grace: i thought that i was never going to be able to see your show this year. but holy crap! it was soooo good. i thought that you guys would've pulled off best choreo but i think that the GC was well deserved. the puppets on "Lets Twist Again" were soooo CUTE! ahh! i loved it. and the purple dresses were really cool. from the audience, you could tell that everyone of you was giving their all and it turned out for the best. Great Job! i can't wait to see next year's show!

I was there yesterday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM and i saw a lot of really great show choir. Congratulations to everyone who performed yesterday. Everyone gave it their all and it was really fun to watch. Also, great job to Viterbo Platinum Edition and Grand River Singers. The "I Wish I Could Go Back To HighSchool" was HILARIOUS. even the little bit of poking fun at "Ballin' the Jack" Very good job to everyone and hopefully we'll get the chance to compete here next year!

well well well. i will have to say......last night was veryyy different and unexpected. i was there from the the first performance to the last ( i didnt see the middle schools) i will have to say. i had totino sweeping the whole competition. i didnt expect milton to pull of bc or bv. but bb to hastings could have happened.
Totino: this was the first ive seen you guys live ever. and you guys were amazing. theres just something special about youre group that just wows me. (imnot going to type a whole lot. lol) but. i personally you should have gotten bc.
Hastings: in no way i expected you to get 3rd. if anything 2nd after the day tim shows i thought youd guys be in first for sure. i wasnt a big fan of the show when i first saw it at viterbo. but as the season went on it grew on me. and BIG IMPROVEMENT from last year.
Milton: woooooow. im not going to lie. since monona i wasnt a big fan of yr show choir. or the show. i liked the first half up until th eballad. but after that i was juttt not feeling the whole patriotic thing. but youre vocals surprised me. but again i wasnt expecting a 2nd place. or bc or bv. but great job this season.

to all the other groups.....congrats on making finals and you all did a wonderful job.

Hello everyone! let me start off by saying how ... 'thrilling' this competition turned out to be. being in two show choirs (t-tones too!), i didn't get to see ANY groups - except for viterbo and grand river - both of which i loved!!!

i know that after the daytime results and hearing the placements i was a bit discouraged.

1 - Milton
2 - Hastings
3 - Totino-Grace
4 - Chi-Hi
5 - NSP
6 - Testostertones

i know we all felt like our day performance went very well. but after having a season where things generally didn't turn out like we were all hoping, i didn't think we stood a chance. we went into our finals performance just hoping to have a great last performance of the season.

i don't think any of us will forget what that felt like - sad!!!! anyway, when we found out we placed above hastings - that just made my evening. hastings - you guys had a fabulous show (i didn't get to see it last night - but i have other times). it's just so fun and clean - and your ballad is BEAUTIFUL! i had heard that milton had a VERY GOOD finals performance, and when they announced best choreo and vocals went to you - i KNEW that was it.

when they announced the first RU, it was like an explosion or something! MILTON- i have to repeat what wes was saying - i felt like we overreacted when we heard - i know that i did - and i am so sorry. it was just a bizarre feeling and mix of emotions. i know i completely lost my voice by screaming 'OH MY GOD!!!!" over and over as we walked to the stage! i still can't believe that happened

i know that i will NEVER forget this - my last performance in a competition EVER. thank you to all my fellow CofS members who all helped make this possible! and esp. to the band!!!!!!!!!!! you guys blow my minds!!!!!! you really are the best band EVER!!!!!!!

thanks again to everyone!!!

To WesTraen and the rest of TG:

An appology isnt really necessary. After the shock and anger was over, I realized that if we had been in your situation, the same thing would have happened. In no way do I hold anything against your group. Points are points no matter where they come from, and you won! Although, your courteousness is very much appreciated!! Congratulations!!

Thats what I will miss the most about show choir; all of the great people I've met and how complimentary they are of other groups. Other than show choir, I was in football, and that atmosphere is completely different. Sure there are rivalries, but I've never seen another high school activity where so many students come together and support others. Show choir is deffinately the activity that I will miss most from high school!!

Once again, congratulations to everyone, especially TG!

And thank you to everyone for the great show choir memories!!!

Jordan A.

I see that Damon is reading this, Thanks Damon for all of your hard work and time put into our show!!!
