Anyway, I'm curious to scores and placements from individual Judges... most curious about Marty Demott, Eric Vancleave, and Kevin Butler.

I know that they did rankings for the finals performances. Though not sure about the scores I know that Marty Demott, Eric Vancleave, Linda McCechran, and Kevin Butler had Marysville ranked first. Brett Pepo, and the other judge(Not sure of name) had marysville in third. Congrats to all competing choirs and thank you to Mrs. Verda Slinkard and Edgewood for having such a well run competition!!!

i wasnt amazed by eisenhowers prelim performance and neither was there directed they got majorly chewed. Usually goin first in finals isnt quite what they wanted but WOW!!! they truly pulled something out of mid air because they definitly left it all on stage i thought they had GC right after they stepped off stage!
i really just dont like the style findlay has but i mean that tap number is going to win you best choreography it was truly amazing even though i really dont like it. umm i really wish i would have watched marysville im disappointed i didnt but i really dont know how eisenhower got third under findlay and marysville... the other placings i understand

I completely agree! Eisenhower BROUGHT IT last night in finals! I didn't get to see them in prelims but I heard rumblings that it wasn't so hot! However, their finals show was SO good! I honestly think had they not gone first they would've been one place higher or even GC. I loved Marysville last night and totally thought they deserved to win but EEE's performance just really left an amazing impression on me. It was amazing to see that entire group be so committed to doing a great show. From the singing, to the choreo. to the faces it just all clicked and seemed so "organic" and uncontrived. I hope they have a great rest of the season!

No order by points. I dont believe
Eisnhower just went first and blew me away. If they dont win, I expect Findlay to.

words cannot describe the pride i feel in seeing these competition results. all the Swingers know how much i adore them and how i had hoped for the best for them this season - well here we are, only two competitions in for Marysville, and they have already surpassed all expectations i could ever place on them. congratulations Swingers, i hope your season continues to be successful.

also, a hearty congratulations goes out to all finalist groups. according to phone conversations i had with competition participants yesterday, Edgewood was undoubtedly one of the most difficult competitions Marysville has competed at in recent memory. i'm told a high caliber of performance was exhibited by many groups yesterday, particularly Eisenhower and Findlay, and that commitment should be met with all the kind words i can muster.

Yeah, she's OFF THE HOOK! She caught my eye from the moment EEE started performing and I was always looking for her! In the middle of their closer a friend of mine yelled "Work, girl," and the entire section we were sitting in laughed b/c they knew exactly who we were talking about!

she did ROCK oman... They always seem to have like... 5 people who can just Blow me away with their performance... i loved you guys EEE

So i basically have no idea what to say but i'm going to try my hardest...

GC: Marysville -- You're vocals (again) are impeccable, but i thought you sounded exhausted in the night show. Your band made quite a few errors in the night program and you just seemed gassed to me. The choreo lacked energy and i would have placed you 3rd. Remember that last week i said i loved you and that you completely deserved GC... I love ya'll i just think that other choirs stepped it up, and you slacked off.

1RU: Findlay -- Your entire opener sounded like you were singing watermelon to me it was like... "blah blah blah blah... I BELIEVE IN LOVE... I just thought that Diction and foot noise were Huge issues in your sound, Your guys are definately being outsung by your women throughout the show. I liked the ballad a lot and thought it was one of the top 5 performances of "what i did for love" from the past 5 years... Absolutely LOVED 42nd Street Minus the 2 minute long Tapdance extravaganza... Which, you did very well. It's just not my thing... I would have placed you 4th because of the way i had to listen so hard to understand 70 percent of your show.

2RU: EEE -- OH MY FRICKEN GORSH how do i love your show... let me count the ways... No but seriously. I'm not a fan of the TONE that your choir has, it's very... Dekalb... does anyone know what i mean by that? a little bit nasaly, Heavily treble sound... BUT i could understand every word, i never once heard an off chord, the band was impeccable, i LOVE your costumes, i loved your ballad, i don't know... You should win the universe... I think that what i love about you is that you ENTERTAIN people... You and FC are very alike in that you both want to win, but you won't sacrifice Originality or entertainment for the sake of GC... I had you placed in 1st Place 1 Point over marysville... I LOVE YOU.

3RU: Sullivan -- I was really tired of the show style after a bit... I mean, even down to Costuming i thought i was looking at Findlay. Your Closer was Awesome though and the ballad was VERY well sung... Again i have a huge problem with Diction, i REALLY hate having to strain to hear the words, and the entire show (just like Findlay) i was having to work to understand. I had you placed 4th MUCH improved though since the last time i saw you at MTZ 2005!!!

4RU: Crete -- I love you but i don't understand... You have an incredible amount of talented singers though the only time you came together to create a good sound was during your ballad... And btw... your Ballad soloist is the bomb... i loved every second of "Once Upon a Time"... The band arrangements need a LOT of filling out... i think the biggest problem i had with your show was just that. The band really did not help your show move along the way it should have. I had you placed 6th and actually i thought Chesterton might make it to finals instead of you.

5RU: FC -- Wow... I have no idea what to say to you amazing wonderful people. I don't know how anyone could sit through your show and NOT be astounded by the quality of your singing throughout the Opener, 2nd number and Ballad. You have a very hard hitting sound that really makes you pay attention during the show and i love that... the Willy Wonka number is REALLY cool i like how you added the "i like big butts" this weekend though still, as with any novelty number, Diction diction diction!!! HUGE improvements since last weekend though... I really don't have any Idea how you got 6th Place... i honestly thought 3rd was the worst you could possible have gotten, and i thought you had a good run on Marysville... Did anyone else realize the lack of applause and awkward silence when FC was announced as 5th RU??? i know i did... You're VERY threatening this year but it looks like you're going to have actually BECOME CLINTON before you'll place in top 3...

MY Placements... in short

GC: Eisenhower (Choreo) 179
1RU: Marysville (vocals)177
2RU: Franklin Central 176.5
3RU: Findlay 172.5
4RU: Sullivan 168
5RU: Crete 166.5

I used the judges sample sheets for my scoring (out of 200)... and when i finished, before i added totals i thought... "well i'm biased, so i'll give everyone but FC a point Bonus" and those results are what happened... My original results would have seen FC Second Place and marysville 3rd by .5.

Anyway, I'm curious to scores and placements from individual Judges... most curious about Marty Demott, Eric Vancleave, and Kevin Butler.

Thanks everyone and Congrats on an AWESOME CONTEST
Definately a great year for show choir...

2RU Eisenhower- My friends and I loved your energy and willingness to lay it all on the line and WORK that stage. There was one particular girl with reddish hair who had a solo in the closer that was KILLER for the entire show. Even your director was back there just enjoying himself and that was so refreshing to see. I loved the show, especially "Welcome to the Jungle," and your closer! The opener was awesome too. Real powerful! Your band sometimes was overpowering but they were awesome, again especially in your closer.

Edgewood was a great comp! Congrats to all the groups! I thought everyone performed admirably! Here are my little thoughts

GC Marysville- All I can say is awesome show! I attended finals tonight with several friends and we were all rooting for you guys! I thought the opener was very cool and sort of laid back! I absolutely loved "Home." I'm so glad that you guys did the original justice and props to your choreographer, he did an awesome job with style and interpretation. Great job on the vocals caption! I really felt like you guys could've won the choreography caption too, had you done just a little more choreo. I felt like the opener was alot of staging! Anyway, I know you guys are happy and you def. deserved GC! You guy's WORKED IT OUT on stage.

1RU-Findlay- Classic Findlay! I love you guys for really keeping your style of show choir alive. I've seen Findlay shows since around '99. I thought you guys sang and danced well but the whole show was somewhat stale to me. It left something to be desired, I guess I just knew what was coming next! 42nd St. was clean and you guys performed it great.

3RU Sullivan- I really couldn't get my head wrapped around your show! I thought the song selection was random and I don't mean that maliciously but it just seemed all over the place!

4RU Crete- I love that you guys perform no matter what and I really respect that. I wasn't crazy about the song selection but that's just me! I thought you all sounded your best during your ballad and your soloist in that particular song was AWESOME. Great job on making finals.

5RU Franklin Central- I thought you guys performed so admirably and you really gave it your all. I just think the song selection wasn't that great. The selection just seemed very scattered and random. I loved the "Unwritten" part of your opener! That was very well done but then it went into "Dare You To Move," and it just seemingly fell apart. That portion of your opener just didn't really fit and the vocal arrangements were weird. They were way too "choral" for a song of that nature. I almost didn't recognize the actual song you guys were singing b/c it was way over-arranged. "Right Now" was ok but again it just seemed to come of nowhere. I think the arrangement of your ballad kind of took something away from that song, being what it is. The Willy Wonka number was a good novelty but I've seen you do better. I Drove All Night was sang really well but I don't know if the choreo. was stylistically correct. It just didn't seem to really mesh together. Def. not trying to disrespect or be mean to the FC program b/c I have so much respect for you guys, however I'm always an honest person just saying what I think. Good Luck the rest of the season.

I think the judges def. got this one right!

Alright, I will critique since I watched finals and all.

I will go in order from sixth to first place.

Franklin Central- I loved your show and I thought it was the most entertaining throughout finals. You guys all have so much energy and it shows on stage that you know what your doing and you do it VERY well. You have always had a tradition of doing a comedy number and this year was no letdown with Willy Wonka. I loved your opener and it kept me into the performance because the songs were all very current. Overall, I placed you where the judges had you.

Crete Monee- The opener for your song was very intense and the lyrics kept me wanting more and to listen to it twice today was awesome. I could tell that all of you had a goal to reach out to each and every person watching you tonight, you guys had so much intensity and I must say that Ain't No Other Man AND your Guys number "Lola" were by far my two favorite guys and girls number. I had you placed where the judges had you in my placings after finals. I thought that you faught hard and made a good showing for yourselves.

Sullivan- First thing I must say is about your ballad, WOW. I am not a very emotional person, but thinking of that song made me tear up not only once, but twice. It was very fun to watch you guys and your sets were awesome. Your soloist after the ballad for the Rolling Stones song was very entertaining and the way he strutted across the stage made me crack up because it was a perfect reflection on how the Rolling Stones did in their concerts. Again, your sets blew me away with the televisions and neon lights. After finals, I had you guys getting third, but you didn't get a lower placing because of your performance, the other groups were just amazing and blew me away.

Eisenhower- I was highly surprised of your placing. I have had the pleasure of seeing you guys the last three years and each year I always wonder how much better you guys can get, this year was no exception. Your energy from your performers and director (who I highly admire) took the energy above and beyond throughout your show. I was a huge fan of your opener and the closer dresses were HOT. Keep it up and you guys will win. I had you placed 2nd in my placings.

Findlay- You were my favorite show throughout the day. I was very impressed by the energy that your guys AND girls both had while on stage. There was one guy that I would like to know his name, but he was kind of short, had his blonde hair spiked up, was tan, and always in the front row. His energy was amazing and he was always the person that as I was looking and watching the whole choir, stood out as saying "I want to be here, and let me shove this in your face." Honestly, I didn't quite understand the yellow bands that you used in the 2nd number, but that could just be me, being dumb. Your guys and girls costumes in the second half of the show were GORGEOUS and I highly admired the gold shoes. Your tap number was breath-taking and it seemed to be cleaner in the day show rather than night. That was what won you best choreography and that combined with your AMAZING vocals, will help you win throughout the year. I had you guys winning this competition in my placings and I felt very upset that you didn't pull it out.

Marysville- I will never forget the faces that you guys continued to give in and out of the show. The opening number was very laid back but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Your ballad was very solid and your vocals knocked me off my feet. I feel bad because I don't have a whole lot to say about you guys because one word could have summed it up, SOLID. Congratulations on being Back to Back Grand Champions, which if I remember my history, has NEVER been done at Contest of Champions.

Four of us used a ranking system after finals to see who we thought would win.

If we had used us as judges:

1. Findlay
2. Eisenhower
3. Marysville
4. Sullivan
5. Crete
6. Franklin Central

We all agreed that any of out top 3 winning would have been understandable.
