So..Branson was about 9 kinds of amazing!!

The other competitions we went to this year were awesome but I really really loved this one. The Trilakes Center was just so freakin huge!! My favorite aspect though was that almost all the other choirs were from out of state. Getting to talk to the other peoples was neat, and I didn't notice any major accents, which surprised me a bit. The shows were really neat too. I liked six a lot and the showboat was pretty cool too. I didn't enjoy the 60's one as much because we'd just watched seven straight hours of show choir...and it was pretty much a 6-member, medleys only show choir. I never realized how BIG some choirs were. Spanish Fork..like...their all girls choir was huge compared to us, not to mention their mixed group. Sheesh. Made me feel small and poor, that's for sure.

Congrats to everyone who went, it was an absolute blast.

Thanks to all in Branson who made our weekend there so special. A special "thank you" to the director and students of Homestead, who were incredibly gracious and served as a great example for our kids. You guys blew us away -- from the director, who came over to wish us luck before finals, to the performers, who gave our kids a standing ovation as we walked through their group on the way to the bus, you were a perfect example of sportsmanship, and it meant so much to our students. I hope you saw us clapping back at you as we walked through your group. You and Spanish Fork were amazing competition for our kids, and any of the three groups could have come out on top. We were privileged to be able to compete against you, and we hope to see you again. Please make sure to thank all your performers for us.

the SF girls show was almost identical to the RB girls. complete with the same little tux's and the coin props.. i wish the Rock Bride girls couldve been there. im sure Chad didnt think they would be at the same comp. i think its okay to give 2 schools the same song and choreo...but maybe not in the same season...

I had a blast competing in Branson! It was a great experience and I hope to have the chance to do it again in the future... It kinda sucks that we were so close to one of those big trophies! lol... but there has to be a line to draw somewhere... and after all... its just a big chunk of plastic... Its more about what it represents and I am so proud of River City Revue! We have had an awesome season and achieved MANY of our goals! Thanks for a great year guys! Its been fun...

i had so much fun too...that was by far the best we ever performed and im so glad we made it to top ten...

this competition was SOOOO much fun!!! even if we didnt place, atleast we made the top 10! everyone was so amazing... my fav. was HOMESTEAD

did anyone else notice that SPANISH FoRK and NEVADA had the same opener with much of the samr choreo??

does chad alexander choreo them both??

Yes he choreographed Spanish Fork. He choreographed the mixed and the Single-Gender from S.F.. I agree with Ron, I'm sure he thought the chances of them competing against Nevada were slim to none, but there were changes to the two groups, not exactly the same. The girls group from S.F. had some of the same numbers as Rock Bridge girls this year as well, but once again, it wasn't exactly the same choreography. Both different, but I liked both! It's always cool to see how two different groups can do the same number but interperet it differently.

Congrats to everyone, I was very impressed with the choirs throughout the day!

Which song was it, Joshy?? I might remember parts of it.....that would be so funny to see! (Yet again, we don't have that problem!)

Yup! i thought it was funny... he probably thought that the chances of nevada and spanish fork competing at the same comp. were very slim or not at all, but it happened " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .

congrats to everyone who went to branson. I enjoyed every single one of the performances

was it not top 3 this year?

It was still a 3-choir finals round, but they chose to award six trophies. (Couldn't quite figure that out, but it didn't seem like a big deal.)

I'm reposting this with corrections/clarifications, and all of the show choir captions. I couldn't find paper in time to write down the concert choir awards, but I'll try and get those.

GC: Johnston "Innovation"
1RU: Spanish Fork "Ambassadors"
2RU: Homestead "Class Royale"
3RU: Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts "Show Choir"
4RU: Spanish Fork "Premiere"
5RU: "Light" from the Mesa, AZ community

Best Male Sound: Johnston
Best Female Sound: Duke Ellington
Best Male Stage Presence: Thomas Ritz of Hannibal
Best Female Stage Presence: Joanne Choy of Diamond Bar
Best Male Solo: Aaron Butler of "Light"
Best Female Solo: Amanda M. of Diamond Bar
FAME Award: Sundance HS

(The FAME Award is given to the school that the FAME staff feel is most deserving of it by showing a positive spirit during the weekend. Sundance is a junior/high school from Wyoming with only 110 students in grades 7-12. Over half of the school was competing at Branson this weekend. When they didn't make it into the semifinals round, they sat in the auditorium and watched every single show choir perform, even after having watched nearly every performance on Friday. They were kind and respectful kids.)

Johnston- congratulations! I knew you could do it. Iowa's hopes this year rested on you, and you pulled through with shining colors!
