what happened to Eau Claire?

This is the first competition of theirs I didn't go to. That must have been it. (haha)

Oh well though.

Single-Gender (can't say "ladies" - because Manchester brought an all guys group. Probably a good hting they didn't place, because they handed out those "American Girl" dolls as trophies. I can't even imagine what a group of guys would think about getting one of those...)

Oh - because someone up there asked:

Sullivan's show:

Smile
Hernando's Jive
When you Come Home
and a Rolling Stones Medley, which was a lot of fun.

On a side note, they avoided disaster when one of their risers jolted out of place and started bouncing around in finals. But they just kept going like champs, and one of the techies actually came out while they were dancing and shoved it back into place - hardly disturbing a thing. Kudos to them all!

I'm kind of surprised someone else hadn't done this yet - so I guess I'll take the time and fill in all the results as best I can (hey - it took forever to get back from FAME "North Shore" - which was actually a good hour from Chicago!)

Anyway:
Single-Gender (can't say "ladies" - because Manchester brought an all guys group. Probably a good hting they didn't place, because they handed out those "American Girl" dolls as trophies. I can't even imagine what a group of guys would think about getting one of those...)
1) Manchester Touch of Swing
2) Sullivan
3) Petal, MS - FAME award

Mixed:
1) Sullivan, best vocals, choreography, male solo, best crew
2) Mt. Zion, tie for best male solo
3) Manchester
4) Lawrence North
5) Bloomington Jefferson, best band, best female stage presence
6) Gretna, NE

Other captions:
Best male stage presence: this great kid from El Dorado h.s., and they also had the best female solo

It was a fun day. Sullivan really was great and earned a well deserved sweep over the rest of the field. They had a nice tone quality to their singing, and were very musical, and their show had a little bit of everything. Very well done!

The theater is beautiful - even if it was up closer to Wisconsin than anything else. But parking was cheap (compared to downtown Chicago!) and I was sure to fill up on gas, which was also a good 30cents cheaper up there... hey, it's the little things!

they open with........

Come pick me up (Baby just a little bit)

route 66

He was walking her home (great ballad)

hot body/ girl next door medley

Push it to the Limit (visually a great song)

Their opening is "Hit Me Up" by Gina Farrell its from Happy Feet. Their ballad is "Walking Her Home" by Mark Schultz. Their arrangements are all pretty sweet.
