But at the same time... Concert music isn't always fun. It can be painfull at points. I mean, yes the song that wheaton did, the gospell was a very fun song, but look at some of the other concert music that is out there. I hate to go back to this, but brownsburgs last song, the latin one. It was not fun... it was gorgeous, almost painfully gorgeous.

Concert music can be about fun... but it isn't always fun. Its about true emotion that does not come through in the show choir sector.

Def. agree with you! I appreciate both for what they are!

I applaud both the ensemble and their director for taking risks, being different and making concert choir fun!

did anyone get to hear Brownsburg Madrigal singers? Or wheaton... That was a really close one. Brownsburg got first.

Wheaton did a very showy gospell number at the end. I did not like it at all.

I fell in love with that!!! I love concert choir b/c I appreciate outstanding singing however I know I'm not alone when I say that concert choir can get stale at times. Wheaton's last number was such a breath of fresh air and it was entertaining! I applaud both the ensemble and their director for taking risks, being different and making concert choir fun!

questions were raised by persons on this board in previous topics wanting to know Carmel's set list (those persons including myself). Pike is Carmel's latest competitive endeavor, so i figure i will post the now-obtained set list here.

Carmel "Ambassadors" 2007
-They're Playing Our Song Medley (If You Really Knew Me/They're Playing Our Song/When I Hear Music)
-Dancin' Fool from Copacabana

Wheaton did a very showy gospell number at the end. I did not like it at all.

Brownsburg started off with a very difficult and complex song (musicaly and literally) song that was beautiful. They did a gorgeous Polyphonic number. And ended with Caritas Et Amore... Left me and everyone next to me in tears..

What did you all think?

I almost love hearing concert music at these things instead of watching show.

congrats to WW. I'm still with Carmel on this one though...their show was just more elaborate and generally entertaining. It makes me wonder what happened when a choir wins by 0.6 of a point. but everyone did really well and it was a great competition! I look forward to seeing the "best of the best" at state!

It was a long, fun day.

I enjoyed WW to no end. Real happy to see them win.

It was pretty awesome to see people that seemed genuinuely shocked with their result. Pure joy. It was real cool.

I heard that the margin of victory was razor thin. Quite the competition.

I want to thank everyone who helped with, performed at, and attended the 10th Anniversary of Pike MusicFest! It was a terrific day with a full slate of amazing performances. I want to thank all of our volunteers and hosts who made the event possible.

We also have some very exciting news from MusicFest! We held 2 different events to benefit the Enterprise Relief Fund. The first was a Guitar Hero Competition, with participants paying $1.00 to play a song. The student with the high score on the Expert Level got the opportunity to play a song on the big screen (projected on the back curtain) in front of the audience! This event raised $114.00! But it didn't stop there...we took 3 different free-will donations during the daytime prelims. The amount donated by the audience totaled approximately $666.25, bringing our grand total to an amazing $780.00! We decided to give the audience the opportunity to contribute one more time during finals, just before awards. We were hoping to break the $1,000.00 mark. We haven't counted the spare change yet, but our preliminary count suggests that in the final collection time, the audience contributed an additional $780.00, doubling the amount raised for the day!

I cannot say enough about the groups who attended Pike MusicFest this year. Not only did the students perform outstanding shows throughout the day, but they were polite, professional and positive, and we absolutely enjoyed having everyone at Pike this year.

It says a lot about a large group of people when they are able to take a moment of complete silence for the people in Enterprise, AL, and when they are willing to dig deep and donate approximately $1,500.00 to this wonderful cause. Hopefully we can help ease the burden and pain, and help put a song back in the hearts of the students and the community of Enterprise.

i kind of promised myself i wouldn't post on here after graduating but i couldnt help it.

1) North Central's Counterpoints have not competed at MusicFest for YEARS. King's Court (almost) always comes, Accents always come.

2) I'm excited about the Ambassadors competing. (I think technically I'm supposed to not like Carmel due to that whole being in Mystiques, but whatever, their dance captains are two of my favorite people in the whole world.)

I think the top 3 will be Carmel, Brownsburg, and Warren Central...but who knows?

Haha, Cassie, we knew you couldn't stay away...
