Yeah... I definitely forgot I still had my program from MIC. Carmel's choreographer is Ron Morgan. Sorry, I would have responded sooner, but I forgot I had access to the answer.

Wash always has extremely entertaining shows. we, however, go with classy stuff...which is no fun to perform or watch. this year we're doing a theme tho, so perhaps it'll be worth doing one more year.

I agree, I was quite impressed with how we've been getting better, over the best 4 years (after we got our new director) we have improved leaps and bounds, especially since we stoped marching freshman.

But... anyways.

I echo the question for who choreographs Carmel

I've heard rumors that he's writing our book for marching band this year...we used to be amazing and then changed directors and have kind of gone hill since '04...so hopefully this year will be good.

and ouch, marching band convos? " border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Saucedo is a big name in the band world. Both his original music and his arrangements are always very interesting. There are some files of Carmel floating around, but if you can't find those check out the Cavaliers from the past 5 years or so.

The predictions are truly anyone's guess.

Carmel was always amazing, even when they weren't competing. I saw them a year or so ago, and they were very strong and solid all-around. Sure it's not hype-worthy, but honestly, neither is anyone else competing here. North Central's groups (mixed and Single-Gender) are the only hype-worthy groups, and they're just performing in exhibition.

Their marching band is pretty good (8th place at BOA = meh). I know Richard Saucedo, who is a high school music God, used to direct their combo and play the drums. I'm pretty sure he still at least directs them.
If he doesn't play, then Carmel will easily take the instrumental award. Of course if he does play the drums, then they won't be eligible.

I have faith that Carmel will impress everyone, including the judges. I've always loved the students and parents of Carmel's groups, I'm sure they'll do very well.

I'll be there! I'm excited already.

I think my mommie is buying me a dvd of all of finals. I didn't get to see Carmel but I know our moms were buzzing about them all day. I know the host group was AMAZING! Us silly Iowa kids were freaking out during their whole performance. Their solos were amazing, I think there's something in the water.

Can I just ask one tiny teeny favor? Please don't call Jefferson just Cedar Rapids. There are 5 other schools in Cedar Rapids with show choirs. Think of it like how it annoys Hoosier fans when Indiana is called UI instead of IU.

Thanks!

Congratulations to call the groups that competed! I am in CG Sound System and came to observe this weekend at the NC MIC Competition. I was highly impressed with Carmel's show (Carmel Ambassadors GC). I walked into the theater with an open mind and I walked out of the theater like WHOA, lol. I had no idea how they would be since I wasn't around 15(ish) years ago and know only that back in the day they were the shizz. The closer and opener costumes were incredible. I loved how the closer costumes were nearly like a set! They had different pieces on different people to make a very elaborate symmetrical picture (I am talking HUGE costumes, ya'll!)! The dancing was also great, it was very different than most groups. They were not a hip-hop style or ballroom/classical/Broadway style (like us). They were very different and it was very pleasing to the eye. Carmel thinks big! Congratulations on a great show and a well deserved GC!

Same comment goes for the Carmel Accents who also won GC in the womens division! Bravo, amazing show!
