Thank you for replying with the names of the best soloists in the Prep Division. I like to keep all the results from year to year and somehow lost the names.

You actually can't move the posts, but I think for now it's alright. The SE Polk competition actually does have a forum, but it might be on the second page, I'm not sure. Welcome to SCC!

I found the Southeast Polk forum and posted there, and basically removed my two messages here. Thanks for the welcome, and for being courteous.

Didn't mean to offend you by being "overzealous." The SE Polk competition was a small one, and there's no forum for it. As Johnston was supposed to go to Kennedy, that was originally the connection. I'm new to the forums and would be happy to move the posts about Johnston if anyone wants to tell me how to do that. Thanks.

Urbandale, way to go!!!!! I hate that finals were impossible due to the weather, but I'm still so happy for you guys. Celebrate for the weekend, then turn your sights on Waukee, as it's gonna be an amazing competition. Taylor and Greg, great job!! I'm very proud of all of you!

JFK, I can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring you guys. It's gonna be totally exciting, and realize you have to seize the opportunities presented before you. Whatever you believe can happen is possible, and you've been in the business of proving people wrong all year. Just keep doing it!

God Bless, Damon Brown

On behalf of the entire Kennedy High School show choir community, I cannot overstate our appreciation to all the groups and their supporters who braved the elements to attend our competition yesterday. You all turned what could have been a complete disaster for us into one of the most fun and memorable show choir days I have experienced. All I heard from my parents all day yesterday was how everyone was in such good spirits and was being very patient with all the changes that occured.

A special thanks to the folks from Davenport Central and from Urbandale, who undertook two treacherous drives to get here and home. I'm so glad you made it home safely!

We made several schedule changes on the fly yesterday in response to cancellations and the developing weather situation. Directors were incredibly accomodating to the changes and allowed us to get in our full day round and two awards ceremonies, and be walking out the doors at 4:06pm! It was sure nice to be home by 7pm. Maybe a new trend in show choir contests will be the single round event...allowing groups to be home when most contests are just starting their finals... hmmmm....

As all of us who run competitions know, these events are major fundraisers for our programs, and are expensive events to plan. Thousands of dollars are spent on judges, trophies, food, sound and lights even before the first singer walks through the door. Your willingness to travel saved us from a very diifficult financial situation, and for that I can't thank you enough.

That being said, there are some contests out there that were forced to cancel their events yesterday. If and when they are rescheduled, I know that I will do my best to support their events in order to soften their blow financially. I hope many of you will do the same.

Well, enjoy your snowy/rainy Sunday! Thank you again to everyone, and we'll see you next year at the Kennedy Show Choir Invitational! (New and improved with event cancellation insurance!!)

Congrats Urbandale!!!!! I can't wait to see you all in a week.

I think it's interesting to see Urby's prep group placing 1 point behind Washington and having 2 judges rank them above Washington.

Our kids were disapppointed that they didn't get to go to Kennedy, but everything worked out well at the Rhythm and Music Showcase at Southeast Polk. The folks there were a lot of fun and seemed pleased to have us. And as Molly said, the food was good.
