Adam DID predict something though. And his prediction DID make sense- it's not like he predicted that the 1982 Mt. Zion Swingsations would win and take Best Vocals, and my dog would take Choreography and 1st Runner Up.

He's seen both Johnston and Urbandale in previous seasons, and he's seen the results from each of their competitions thus far this season.

And I mean, he prefaced the prediction with a ":-P"! It's not like it was notarized and authorized by Storm Ziegler or something.

It's not like his prediction is factored into the scoring tomorrow- it's JUST A PREDICTION!

Where is there a rule that your prediction HAS to make sense, or be fact-based- or that you can't form an opinion about a competition or group without seeing their show??? Again, I will reiterate- this is SCC. Blind predictions are FAIRLY common around here. People form opinions about groups based on pictures, or videos they've seen on YouTube. People will post a prediction just so they can put the groups they want in the top 6 spots. It might make some of us crazy to read ridiculous, uninformed opinions on here, but that's part of being on here- this is an internet discussion board, not a MENSA meeting.

Thanks for the lecture Ana! :-P

arg i hope things look up for the midwest!

I clearly said that I hadn't seen Urbandale or Johnston... therefore, I'm giving readers a choice in accepting my thoughts or to reject them. Loosen up a bit, Jordan.

Like I said, I wasn't assaulting you. Relax. (Hence my primary dissatisfaction with the internet- there's no way to easily convey tone of voice.)

Don't worry, I'm just being SNARKY

Oh oh, here comes 'snarky' again! I was wondering when it would show up.

A. Since when do your opinions have to be valid for you to share them on here??? If I had a dollar for every uninformed opinion that gets posted on here, I'd be as rich as ...Totino-Grace. LOL!

C. I'm confused by all of this weather. It sounds like nothing too bad is happening down there, but a lot of flights are being cancelled and delayed. Mr. Terry Voss' flight was cancelled, but fear not, he is flying out early tomorrow morning.

A. Touché.

C. People aren't concerned with what is happening; it's what's going to happen starting on Saturday and going all the way into Sunday. Events are getting canceled in droves all over the Midwest, and Iowa seems to be getting hit especially hard. A brief look at Weather.com, the NWS, and Weatherchannel.com shows ice, snow, sleet, hail, rain, thunderstorms, flash floods, and tornadoes all occurring in varying amounts literally all over the country tomorrow. It looks like the only region that might get cut some slack is the Canadian border. Things have changed this afternoon, and the Southwest is gonna get hit a LOT harder, but they're still predicting startlingly dangerous conditions for Saturday as far north as central Minnesota and as far east as western Indiana.

Well the thing with the weather is... we were going to go six hours tomorrow in three buses, which might not be so bad (or maybe it would've been). But then, this weather which is supposed to keep up throughout the weekend, would get in our way as we're crossing the state on Sunday afternoon. In the interests of safety, we decided to stay in Cedar Rapids. It was really just luck and the wonderful people down the street that allowed us to get into Kennedy.

Well, in Cedar Falls (an hour north of Cedar Rapids) its been thundering/lightning randomly.
Also, its serriously switching between ice and rain
The roads up here were kinda slick on my way to work, as a car going on a clover exit skid into the railing.. glad thing I hadn't taken the exit and knew to slow down even more.
The worst is supposed to start happening later tonight.

random news up date from not in Cedar Rapids.... work is so boring and I'm watching Greys anatomy from last night cause i didn't get to watch it

Ohh! Snarky is making its annual appearance!!! YES! Sometimes, when Binkie Binkerson is being naughty, I call him snarkie snarkerson.

B. Adam Peters... who are you?! and what have YOU done?!?!?!

C. I'm confused by all of this weather. It sounds like nothing too bad is happening down there, but a lot of flights are being cancelled and delayed. Mr. Terry Voss' flight was cancelled, but fear not, he is flying out early tomorrow morning.

D. I have no idea what to do with myself this weekend, with no competition to go to. I don't think my friends even remember my name- they haven't seen me since December!!!

Besides, neither of these guys ever predict correctly anyways, so it really doesn't matter. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

What are you talking about... haven't you learned that Adam and I are the rulers of SCC and are NEVER wrong.. even when we have conflicting opinions, we're never wrong.

Exactly.

I have also stayed away from making predictions of schools I haven't seen all season. This is the first time I have done so; only I just said I agreed, with a slight change.

What can I say... I like to gamble!?!?

Adam and I have talked about it online, i guess you can say more of an inside joke?

Love your neighbors

Even though Jordan's profile says Iowa City he is firmly in the Johnston camp this year. He's just sticking up for his group and you can't blame him for that.

No offense intended, but doesn't that mean your opinion holds absolutely no validity whatsoever? You disagree that one group will get 1RU and the other will get GC, but you haven't seen either one perform. Basically, you're just disagreeing on principle. Just something to think about.

Your point is?

But it is possible to make predictions based on other competition results. If School A beat School B everywhere they had seen each other (and I'm not saying that this is the case with Urby and Inno), you could make that prediction without seeing the groups without a whole lot to think about. Maybe I just like to argue though.

Predictions:
GC: Johnston "Innovation"
1st RU: Urbandale "Studio 2007"
2nd RU: Cedar Rapids Xavier "Xhileration"
3rd RU: Cedar Rapids Washington "Momentum"
4th RU: Davenport Central "Central Singers Inc."
5th RU: Urbandale "Vitality"

I've explained why i put Johnston ahead.
Xavier did well at Great River, and one or two judges has Xavier ahead of Momentum, so I think they'll come and beat them.

Good luck to everyone! It looks to be really fun.

We are really looking forward to this one! I was there last year as a spectator and I enjoyed the whole day. It's also nice to have a competition just down the street from you when you can't make the 6 hour drive across the state. Thanks for making this work for us, Kennedy!

For those wondering about the schedule, Albert Lea's performance time is now our performance time. I think it's 3:20 or something.
