finals for large mixed i believe are:

huntington north
lawrence central
north central
warren central
danville

.. i hope that's right

My predictions from this list are...

GC: North Central
1R:Danville
2R:Warren Central
3R:Huntington North
4R:Lawrence Central

I think Danville and North Central could switch spots so GC is between those 2.

Bah..I can't wait to hear the results!!!

The way our director explained it to us is that small mixed can win within small mixed as a seperate division. But then the highest scores of all five groups, large and small are taken to night finals. I think its a little ridiculous. A group of 24 people can't outsing a group of 50 or more.

It doesn't matter if u can outsing them it matters who can sing better

"beauty before sound"

I think a small choir can have both. Last year, we were complimented by directors of some prestigious larger groups who said our vocals at times were more powerful and just as good as theirs. We had 22 singer/dancers on a good day. We competed small mixed & made finals everywhere we went... even placing ahead [vocally] of some much larger choirs. [Same goes for the year before last...]

So I think I'm going to try & drag a friend to this competition. She's new to show choir

I think that Center Grove is going to be a blast this year!! We came my freshman year and it was so great. Many of you who are making predictions, thank you for thinking that Delegation(Danville's mixed group, for those of you who don't know) will place well in the finals. But just know that Contemps this year are doing quite well, so you might want to lookout!!
;)

And I sure hope that no one drops out of the competition, or they cancel it. We've been out of school for 2 days, but we are pumped and ready for practice tonight!!

Good Luck to Everyone!!
See you all there!!

I think the worse that would happen would be for some groups to drop out due to lack of practice--I doubt they'll cancel the whole competition.

I haven't heard anything! I guess you could suspect that but its not supposed to snow today or Friday and it starts again Sat. night but only around 3-4 inches which in the grand scheme of how much Indiana has gotten this week is not much at all! I'm fairly certain it will not get canceled but that would suck if it did b/c it looks to be a tremendous, very competitive show choir contest of some top Indiana groups

So...i was just wondering if there was any talk of this comp. getting cancelled due to snow....j/w, cause i know that i would be really disgruntled if that were to happen....

i disagree with the previous statement. carroll used to only have 24 people in it and they would beat out groups with 30-50 people in them. volume with good judges doesn't always play a role. if that was true, anderson's vocals (which are screamed most of the time) would have them winning everywhere. and even so, anderson's group isn't huge, but their vocal power is awesome...jsut alittle overwhelming at times. but small groups can compete with big choirs if they try hard enough.in the past, groups like columbia city, churubusco, carroll (when mrs. doles was there), and other groups had smaller groups, but awesome vocals with decent volume adn they did just fine. just my thoughts

anyways, im really excited for this comp!!! goin 2b awesome!!! good luck to all the groups...especially the amazing warren central!!!!! u guys rock this year!!! also a shout out to NC, LC, and HN!!! love ya all!

You guys are right, that's what SHOULD matter, unfortunately, sheer volume does win some judges over.

I know, isn't it sad, a smaller choir can be vocally amazing but can be placed lower than a larger choir with a good just because they are louder.

It will be interesting to see how this competition plays out.

Most of these schools had yesterday off, and today as well. I wonder how much that will affect the outcome.

I'm very anxious to see.
