Scott, werent you the same guy that opened his mouth and told everyone what FCs show was.....and then you were talking about how you will change on this website. All i see with you buddy is drama. Yes show choir is drama, but it does not have to be that kind of drama, you are just picking at groups just to pick. Yes I know this is a website that you can speak your mind. But sometimes you go to far. You are messing with peoples feelings here, now what will you say if Piqua actually does better than FC, what will happen then. Will you feel stupid for saying this. I would.

I'm just telling you what I noticed

OH and i completely acknowledged that Piqua rightfully took 2nd place... So chill out

I'm really not trying to "mess with ppls feelings" and as far as the "piqua FC" rivalry... i don't think it exists... FC didn't step it up at night, they went back to back... whatever, it happened... The only thing i had to say was that i didn't care for the SET that piqua used for their opener and 2nd number, it fit ok for the ballad... But i don't understand the vocal styling for the first 2 numbers, nor do i understand the staging. I understand the concept of the show... i mean if you were singing like "broken Wing" by martina mcbride for your opener, and like... "Dream on" or something... a Lighter, fluffier song... I'd get it... I just don't like hearing Heavy, Minor key, rocky music, with girls in white dresses and poofy hair, singing it in front of clouds and blue skies... Does no one understand what i'm saying??? i mean really... someone has to know what i'm getting at..

Come on guys, I realize that Scott may have been a bit harsh in his comments, but let's not try to start an argument with him over this. He said that kind of stuff about other groups, but none of them rebutted. To quote the Beatles "Let it Be".

Thanks.

a bit of a rivalry between Piqua and FC i see here? All in good company ;) Can't wait to see them in a few weeks at FAME Fairf...I MEAN THE Crystal Classic.

There is no rivalry between piqua and FC, just someone who does not like piqua very well, and wants to speak his mind about it.

As much as i hate to say it... the results are exactly how i saw them i'm very happy with what i'd consider the Accuracy of the results, though i wish FC had had a better night show.

I'm going to do what i do for every contest i go to and put my exact thoughts during the show in for each choir that i saw.

Mundelein-- Your Vocals are Impeccable and Incredibly well balanced. The tone is focused and adult yet i'm not quite a fan of the overall sound of the choir... Stylistically it didn't do anything for me. I thought your Choreography was very clean and Crisp, yet... TOO SPASTIC... i actually laughed outloud watching someone do the choreo in your opener... i just couldn't help it. I like it when Choreography looks effortless, it should be energetic and have a punch, but it shouldn't Look like work. Some of your girls in the front row looked like they were Gnashing their teeth in the dance breaks it was kinda scary from where i was sitting. I am not a fan of the show but, based on Vocals, Choreo, and Band, i can see a clear separation between you and the next 2 groups.

Piqua -- i thought i liked your show after seeing you at Piqua, but then i realized last friday that It was only because people were yelling so loud i couldn't hear you. i really like the Show Design... it's really kewl and i love the way your girls do "Heartbreaker" but for starters... both, Unwritten and Sweet dreams are kind of darker songs... I mean, not Dark... But they Really don't make me think of girls with poofy hair singing infront of a backdrop of blue skies and puffy white clouds... The biggest thing i had a problem with in your show was the STYLE. There is a time and a place for tall Proper vowels, but your vocals in Unwritten and your Closer "fly with me to the sky" were Stylistically Awful... the quality was ok... But your arrangements seem to call for a Straight toned, Well balanced, CHORDAL sound... and what i heard throughout the show was a Heavy Vibrato from your sopranos, A very Treble heavy sound as if everyone were singing a solo. Now it's obvious that you scored higher than Franklin Central in this caption but i have NO IDEA HOW. I like the show, I just think that stylistically it's all wrong.

Franklin Central-- Still LOVE the show. I guess judges must have not liked the transition from the ballad to the comedy number, I liked it better the way it was... But Anyway. You had an Incredible show in Prelims and i just felt like you guys were really tired come finals. As soon as you sang the ballad i knew Piqua would be ahead of you, whereas in Prelims i KNEW you'd be ahead of them... The biggest thing that i don't understand is the Changing of the ballad soloist... Definately was FAR from an improvement in my opinion. You guys have got like... what 2 Weeks before Fairfield??? i'm REALLY excited to see what you can do before then!!! Keep On Pushing!!!

Beavercreek-- I can't say that i love the show because i never like seeing a choir do repeated stuff from the same choreographer... Not that i have anything against it... i just personally am all about originality... But i just noticed that Damon Choirs have done your opener and closer in the same order before and it just lost a lot of Originality points for me. I thought your vocals were well balanced and in tune, But that you lacked the power of the other groups there that night. I felt as though you were holding back. basically the only other comment that i have was that i could definately see you all changing behind your set and that was just REALLY distracting...

ETC- I didn't get to see you during the finals because i got an important phone call... But i can't imagine that you completely changed your show from day to night... I really liked the show design and thought it was fun to watch... Just, the vocals and choreo were both less impressive than all the groups above in my opinion. All the groups above had moments where i was like "wow that was really nice"... thinking back, i didn't have any for you... Thats not to say that you're not an excellent choir, You most certainly are, I just think that your show lacks a "wow factor"...

Piqua and FC See eachother at fairfield and i expect FC to absolutely anihilate piqua... i may be wishful thinking, but i think that they're going to REALLY push after 3 disappointing competitions... and a 2 week break from competition to really focus on cleaning... i expect them to be a new choir altogether at Fairfield

piqua's theme is "let your dreams fly"... unwritten is basically a song about how you write your own story...so u dream it... you write it.....and sweet dreams.. the title explains it all.....and there backdrop....is clouds... and most ppl reference clouds with sleep aka dreaming.... so basically.... its pretty easy to figure out.... for most ppl anyway

Beavercreek loved the theatre, too! Your show was great, and those green dresses were fabulous. You'all should come to our competition next year, its usually the second weekend in January. The Zionsville folks were so helpful, we had to have some music faxed to us, and then one of our crew got knocked out during the show after colliding with the set, and had to go to the hospital. Thanks to everyone there for all the kind help. Hope to see you again!

I hate to see show choir turn into a contact sport

Two weekends ago, one of our performers got elbowed on stage during performance, and ended up with a bloody nose. I suppose we all have stories to tell about injuries... what kids do for the love of their art!

Zionsville has the absolutely best food of any competition we go to, especially the sweet shop, pasta dinner and frozen custard. However, reiterating what one of our parents mentioned earlier, a more efficient way to communicate the 'no bringing in outside food' rule needs reviewing. Some parents who show up later during the day (long after their kids have arrived) bring food for their kids (there are many medical reasons for kids to bring their own food), without knowing this rule. I understand the hosts were very clear about this rule with the kids when they arrived, but I hate to see that our group might have been penalized for my walking in with my child's lunch. I was wondering if there was a warning system in place, meaning if a parent was caught with food, they were warned prior to their group being penalized. That would seem appropriate.

I also wanted to offer my sincere respect to the girls' group (I believe it was Southmont) who very courageously managed to get through their finals performance with the fire alarms going off. None of you showed even an iota of being intimidated by this. My bet is that's one performance you'll never forget. You earned a lot of respect that night from a lot of people for being so professional about it.

Zionsville, I'll say it again, I wish we could borrow your facilities (minus the busted water pipes) for our invitational - your auditorium is the most comfortable place I've seen my child perform outside of the Grand Ole Opry. If our group returns there next year, I might have to tag along even though my daughter is graduating just because it's so comfortable.

Zionsville was so much fun. I absolutely love that theatre. It's amazing. I'm bummed that I'll never be able to use the apron while singing my solo again. Thanks for having us back this year. Great job to everybody in the competition. It was a really tough one. Maybe we'll see you guys later on in the year. Good luck to everybody at your other competitions.
