"Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo" ?

That was the boys number. They did "We're In the Money" for the closer that included fantastic tap dancing. I wish I could remember the rest of the show but by that late in the day everything was running together.

What is Manchester's show?

I can't remember. They sounded great. That's about all I can remember lol. Oh, and they had great opening costumes. I know that really doesn't help you out much but that's all I can recall at the moment.

Oh the drama of high school show choir...it seems like it was just yesterday.

Okay. Enough is enough. It is what it is and nothing anyone can say or do is going to change the final results. Everyone knows that different judges look for different things. Certain judges prefer the more traditional type shows (broadway style songs and dance) and other prefer things that are more out of the box. Some judges already have preset ideas about some show choirs and others have a different opinion of the same choir. And, yes those things do make a difference in the way a judge scores one group against another. Whether or not you think the judges are "in the circuit", they are all trained in their fields and capable of being a judge. show choir is also subjective. What one person likes is not necessarily what someone else is going to like. Let's just say congrats to Manchester on a job well done and let it go at that.

I would reccomend taking this to the PM's, otherwise the board will be closed.
Just a suggestion tho.

I'm pretty sure if you take a closer peek, I said "If there are any ill feelings between the choirs, I think that they can share the blame." You must have missed that part.

Well that type of behavior is certainly not encouraged at Nitro and I'm sure you guys feel the same way. I personally have nothing against Cabell Midland as I have said before I think you guys have certainly turned yourself into a well respected program.

But of course Cabell Midland is completely innocent right? Obviously you haven't read any of the negative remarks posted by your choir. I could certainly argue that Nitro feels the same way everytime you beat us. I think the blame should be evenly distributed. There are always two sides to every story.
Both choirs are freakin fabulous so let's just leave it at that lol.

I don't post often, and this will probably be one of the very few times I voice my opinion on the board. I wasn't at Captiol so I can't say who had the better performances or not. BUT I do know that every time Nitro has beat Midland, it has been an in-your-face-we-are-awesome attitude. When Midland beat you at Poca, one of the members apologized and said VERY sincerely that they deserved to make finals and that we shouldn't have beat them, you know what the reply was? "It won't happen again." If there are any ill feelings between the choirs, I think that they can share the blame.
On another note, how can it be said that Poca got cheated but Midland didn't? Before you react to that statement, I am NOT saying anyone got cheated, scores are scores. But, how can you people sit here and say that no one should say they were "cheated" and then turn around and say that Poca should have beat Midland?! Exactly. Let me just add, this had nothing to do with Poca,I love Poca.. When I was in choir I felt like Poca was sort of connected to us because Mr. Kincaid fabulously choreographed for Cabell Midland I was just using them as an example since they were mentioned above.

This bickering is absolutely senseless.

Show Choir is ultimately about performing, but it also has a very important secondary factor...class. As people log on and read these arguments over who has the better show choir, who got "screwed," and advising each other to wait and see what happens at States, it makes your ENTIRE choir look classless.

I know that this board is made up of individuals, but take it from someone that works in a field where I represent the interests of over 50,000 people, when YOU make comments like that, people identify it with YOUR choir.

I used to be in show choir, for four years, and I've competed against Nitro (when you were the "Expressions) and Cabell Midland (heck, I was in show choir before CM even had a show choir), and let me say that each of your groups have made leaps and bounds of progress the past couple years.

Both of your choirs are getting to the point where you can feel confident that you will be a "Finals" group, and that's saying something. There are tons of choirs out there that will never have the feeling of being in Finals somewhere, and I know that both of your choirs have experienced that feeling before. Yes, in West Virginia, both of your groups are right up there in a state that used to be dominated by four choirs (Poca, Hurricane, Winfield, and Martinsburg).

While beating rivals is awfully nice, I think it's additionally important not to just be good choirs for the state of WV, but good choirs in the region, and ultimately, the country. Soon, you will get to the point where you make finals consistently at competitions like Cuyahoga Falls, Edgewood, Marysville, Beavercreek, and a whole host of others.

My advice is to chill out on the bickering and claims to who is better. There were countless times where my choir was beat by another, and then the next week, we were beating them. But don't get ahead of yourselves, while both of your programs have grown a lot, you still have a long way to go. Don't work on just beating each other, work on making choirs around the region nervous that you're at the same competition. One day, you'll get there, but you will never gain respect in the show choir community if we can read that you're just bickering over who's better than who. You never see the Twinsburgs, the Marysvilles, the Hurricanes, or the Fairfields getting on here and picking fights. Learn from them, and gain some civility...THAT'S when you'll be respected in the show choir community.

I agree 100%

i rest my case... Nancy Slife, like Mr. Crandall, knows what show choir si becuz she directs a GREAT one... btw, i think Crandall may be judging state too... so thats already one person that thinks we're better... nonetheless... both of those ppl are professionals and they no what it takes to have an awesome choir... so however the results are, they will be accurate

lol. a judge doesn't "think" you are better. he thought your performance was better. being arrogant about your choir again is going to turn around and bite you in the rearend as you think it will hurricane. everyone knows who you are implying the comments towards.

This is just a question so don't flip out... Don't you think it's a bit unethical to have someone judge a competition that has already seen the majority of the choirs competing at states? Especially based on the comment that you just made and even more since your the host.

SOOORRY I WAS WRONG!!!

1-manchester
2-lee davis
3-ravenswood
4-martinsburg
5-nitro
6-st. clairesville

then cabell midland poca then hoover

Thank you, tylerkirk_nitro...that was cool of you.

As for the debate going on...you can argue all you want about these things, but it won't change the fact that the score-sheets are done and the trophies have been handed out.
Take it to States and let the chips fall where they will. If you gave 100% that day, you did what you went there to do.
I am proud of all of the groups I saw that day...it seemed everyone wanted it...unfortunately, it can't be that way.

Best of luck to everyone competing at Cabell Midland this weekend!
