Hopefully as people get back tomorrow, there will be more opinions on shows and such.

Congrats to Ankeny!

Urbandale, great job again! Even though you didn't take the top prize, please know how proud I continue to be year after year by your commitment to being great. You have a shining season ahead of you, and this was another excellent start.

To Happiness, WOW! Where did all that improvement come from????????????? Can we now say the fire has OFFICIALLY been lit under your butts?? I'm very proud of you bringing it today and standing tall among an incredibly tough line-up. Upward and onward!

To City High, I know it was just one of those days. Listen to the tapes, find out where you can tweak things and get ready to catch fire next Saturday. You still have an excellent season ahead of you and I have TOTAL faith in you!

God Bless and congrats to Brandon Dean, April James and Ankeny. Damon Brown

First of all, I hope everyone gets home safe. The roads were a little slippery on my drive. Secondly, another very good job by all involved with hosting and managing Supernova. Lastly, and I mean no offense to anyone, but I disagreed with who finished where. Here would have been my rankings:

GC: Ankeny (I don't think even I could have screwed this one up. The very impressive reign by Urbandale over this competition has come to an end.)
1st Runner-Up: Urbandale (In my mind, there were clearly two groups ahead of the pack.)
2nd Runner-Up: Totino Grace (There would probably a bit of a dropoff between Urbandale and Totino and Totino and the next group.)
3rd Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Kennedy (They deserved the sixth place during the day, but they really turned it on at night)
4th Runner-Up: Bemidji (They were probably my biggest surprise of the day, I really liked their show.)
5th Runner-Up: Johnston (I thought the show was better in the day, but was still solid tonight.)

All groups today were incredible. The finalists were all amazing, however, Xavier, CR Prairie, IC High, and IC West could have all EASILY made finals. Congratulations to each and every group who performed today ... WOW, what amazing shows for so early in the season.

After being at the competition all day I think that is a right placement of all groups. I would also say that all the groups in Finals were so good, and should be very proud of their accomplishments.

Does anyone know how far 7-9 was from making finals? and what about soloists?

IC West was 6-7 points away from CR K, Xavier was 10 points away.

Best female solo was from Bemidji, best male was from Totino-Grace.

Good Job to all groups tonight. It looks like it should be another great year in the state of Iowa. It was a nice way to start off Supernova 2007. Good luck to all groups performing on Saturday.

Just got back from watching the prep comp. Awards haven't been given out officially but (in my own personal opinion of course) Vitality's a lock to win. Protege and Celebration were as good as advertised, and Focal Point is definitely an overachieving group. All the groups did great!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow " border="0" alt="clover.gif" />
