I had a choreography session with Mr. Weaver from 9-9 today so I didn't get to see too much. I saw Milton and I saw Hastings.
Milton-
Interesting choice, Where You Are is a great song, the soloist was good, but I think in general the mikes weren't hot, they were turned down pretty low. I really liked the effect the boxes made. Awesome job.
Hastings-
Wow. That's pretty much all I have to say. It was awesome. SO CREATIVE! Mr. Warren you're a genius! How do you think of these things?! Andrew Cao's choreography is SO fresh. It's really cool. I must say- the girls were pretty attractive too . lol. The whole school thing- wow, awesome!!!! Linn-mar must've been phenonimal to beat you!
congrats to everyone who performed. and a special congrats to everyone that made finals!!!!!!!! does anyone know any order of groups after day round? i really have no clue what to predict because i havent seen any of these shows! but congrats to all! who got 7-10? i know CR Wash "Celebration" got 9th. but brodhead, mayville, and altoona hafta be in there somewhere! and congrats to the soloists and LM band!
*edited because i didnt see the last post also since i saw the last post im up for predictions....
well, you know old abes show because of supershow...but here it is again w/ soloist annotations!
Opener- Facade from jekyll and hyde (soloists: jimmy erickson, micheal noltner)
Novelty-I love a piano
Ballad- Children Will Listen (from into the woods)/I am your child (soloist julie brown?)
Girls- Here I am (Soloist Julie Brown)
Guys- Dirty Rotten number from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (soloist sam brown)
Closer- Nsync medley (soloist matias valero)
Also, I'm looking through the posts to see who is doing what...I'm really interested too...
I just noticed that one of the solo competitors is singing a song called "Brick." That's not the Ben Folds Five song that naturally pops into my mind, is it?
I just watched the first three groups of the day; Midwest Magic, Divaz, and Silver Dimension. Looking pretty good so far! (Except I could've gone without Rich Girl, but it fit with the theme.)
Doug Martin (whom I had the fortune to meet earlier today) and Cindy Fleishman are both here taking photos, so there should be some excellent ones on the web soon.
Lunchtime addition:
I also got to meet Andrew Cao a little bit ago.
Elk Mound highly surprised me; they were far better than I was expecting (although this does appear to be the year of "Rich Girl...") And, after an arguable down year, Mayville is BACK. Rockin' show; I loved it.
