First let me state... I was not at finals. So none of my comments reflect what happened at finals.

I noticed a few things during the day... most shows were really boring, and it seems that show choirs are starting to go with the trend of jeans and pop music. Some did well, others didn't. Also... vocals were not so hot. I didn't find one group that I all around liked vocally until I heard Omaha Westside sing.

This is what my daytime list would have looked like from the groups that I watched...

1st- Eisenhower (Choreography)
2nd- Omaha Westside (Vocals)
3rd- Mt. Zion
4th- Buffalo Grove
5th- Twinsburg
6th- La Crosse Central
7th- Xavier
8th- Mitchell
9th- Sauk Prairie
10th- Wheaton Warrenville
11th- Holmen
12th- Fort Atkinson (Band)
13th- Logan

Eisenhower-
People are probably thinking "Oh lord, Jorge is just biased because he LOVES Eisenhower"... well, you are right... but also... I think overall in the day time they gave us the overall package. Their choreography was clean and awesome, their vocals were pretty good (better than Mt. Zion, Buffalo Grove, Twinsburg, and GCS), their band sounded phenomenal. The show was just amazing. Some of my classmates who had never saw EEE finally understood why I like them so much. I thought for sure they would be 1st or 2nd in the day time. I loved your show... and I was thrilled to see you all... I can't wait to see you at Sullivan.

Omaha Westside-
I thought Omaha Westside was vocally the best in the day. Their show was fun, and you can tell that they have improved greatly on choreography.

Mt. Zion-
Mt. Zion has a fun show. They need to work on vocals, because those were really weak. Their choreography looked clean the majority of the time, but some parts were still messy. Nothing a few rehearsals can't clean up. I think I like last years show better... but I know tons of people will love this show. Time may be an issue, I could have sworn you guys ran over 1 1/2 minutes in the day time, but I guess not if GCS was the only group who recieved deductions.

Buffalo Grove-
Everyone knows I'm not a fan. But... I can actually say that this is my first favorite BG show. They almost had the whole package, but their vocals and dynamics were just lousy in the day. Some alumni friends told me they really stepped it up in the night rounds last night. I still am not a fan of the show design, choreography, and some songs... but that's all matter of opinion. Those kids performed what they recieved with all their heart. This group had great energy. Hats off to them.

Twinsburg-
Vocally, it wasn't so hot. Diction was a problem. But, I still thought that you would make finals, and I was sad you guys didn't. I really liked the show. Great job.

La Crosse Central-
I didn't like you guys opening with the ballad. The novelties were GREAT! I was a bit sad with your vocals in the day round, but obviously you guys really stepped it up in the night round. Choreography was clean and fun. Willamania lost alot of energy vocally, facially, and dance wise. I just don't know if it's that powerful of a closer. I love the song though, and your arrangement really stays true to the original recording. The outfits were certainly festive. You guys will be on the ball this year again!

Xavier-
Wow... I was so impressed, again! You guys get better, and better, and better! GREAT CHOREOGRAPHY! Vocals were shaky, you guys should be producing alot more sound for all of those people. The energy and facials were great. And of course... Laura Fuller did an excellent job on her solo! Keep working hard, and I can't wait to see you all later in the season.

Sauk Prairie-
You did well with this musical. The vocals were great. The choreography looked like a mix of Godspell and Fiddler moves though. hahaha. I enjoyed the show.

Overall... Onalaska was pretty okay.

I'm sorry my comments were so vague... but, these groups have tons more competitions, and I know all of them are going to improve greatly... so much, that if the top six Onalaska groups competed at the end of March, results would be completely different.

GREAT JOB TO ALL!

This is Our Time
Beat Me Daddy Eight To The Bar (Andrews Sisters)
Circle of Life (Lion King)
Off The Wall (Michael Jackson)
One With Everything (Styx)

This is Our Time is by Barry Manilow, and I believe Beat me Daddy was originally by Glen Miller and his orchestra (but I could be wrong on that one
