you actually got three out of six finals placements right, and both major caption awards. not bad, really.

yeah I know, but to think Loveland making finals at Fairfield is ridiculous, I don't remember if I was serious or if I was joking

Tri-State did Kettering last year, but I believe they mainly do concerts and whatever.

just an aside, i had never heard of tri-state productions prior to this year, but saw that there was potential for a great product based on the equipment they use (listed on their website). so i went out of my way to create for them a pseudo "shot sheet" to use for marysville's show prior to the competition. if you have the video from fairfield, most of the key shots in the opener were ones that i framed for them. granted, their full shots are too far and they hit some of my cues about two seconds too late, but the potential was there. also, the brightness on their video are due somewhat to the ambient lighting in that performance space.

i see why people would prefer rutherford because they are a known quantity, but the sound quality was superior this year (even without implementing their ability to record in dolby 5.0) and i think with a few more competitions under their belt, their shot selection and framing would be much improved.

i understand. it was just a suggestion for the future. it just seemed really dark... although i dont like all the lights being on either!

was the lighting so dark at the competition? or is it just the videos?

If you look closely up at the lighting fixtures, one of the lights on stage right was out and we couldn't get up there to fix it obviously the day of the competition

I've never had any problems with their service in the past, but I'm not sure whats up with the videos.

i agree that Rutherford would have been a preferable company to book. all of my friends that ordered the Fairfield DVD were very impressed with the speed with which it was delivered, but the video quality is distinctly fuzzy and the shots are overall not as professional as what i have seen in Rutherford's work.

i got my dvd last friday...i couldnt's believe that it was ALREADY in by the time i got home from college...the video company did a great job filming and delivering...way to go video company!!!

The reason the dvd's came so early was because they no longer edit them. The owner of the company said parents want them earlier and they were always saying Ruethford let's you pick it up right there at the school. I would have preffered Ruethford myself, rather than tri state. They do a better job recording, only do close-ups on the ballad, and give it to you right then and there.

Plus, If you ordered a dvd or tape with all the large division groups, look at loveland hs, for a few seconds the screen goes totally blank, and there's another part where the camera's just looking at the ceiling! =[

I got mine as well! It came a lot quicker than I expected!
I've only had time to watchClinton, Marysville, and Eisenhower so far and I'm definitely impressed! Everyone's show rocks!
Shame I couldn't be there in person

I like the method of dropping the highest and lowest scores, it doesn't give any one judge too much power IMO.

I've never been a big fan of the ranking system.

EDIT- spelling

As specified in the Director's info, we did not use rankings in Finals.

Final SCORE totals were:

Clinton 1,081

Marysville 1,058

Eisenhower 1,051

Hurricane 1,035

Findlay 1,026

Norwell 939

Dropping the low and high scores would have the same results

School High Score Low Score Total of remaining scores

Clinton 222 204 655

Mville 218 200 640

Eisenhower 219 202 630

Hurricane 216 192 627

Findlay 214 196 616

Norwell 199 172 568

** Yes, had we used ranks the results would have been different. I guess this goes to show there's no such thing as an exact science!
