This was by far the best competition ever! Clinton people - y'all are AMAZIN'!!! - notice my accent!!! It was a pleasure to meet everyone from there and several other choirs! Oh it was SOOO much fun! If i was a judge...I don't think I'd be able to judge...I'd rather sit and watch and not have any pressure...hehe

They did have donation jars set up. I'm not sure how they did or if they announced the final amount at the end on the evening. I had to leave before finals were over (we had left home at 3:30am to drive to Fairfield and around 11:00pm we were just too tired to stay any longer). It did seem like people were being very supportive of the cause. The jars looked pretty full. I want to thank Fairfield for doing that. I think every show choir (see I did it right this time) should do the same. I can't imagine what the people in Enterprise are going through right now. I would also like to say that during the daytime awards they did have a moment of silence to remember the people that lost their lives that day.

In all honesty, I think it should be a matter of personal preference. I wouldn't want anyone to tell me when and how I should give praise to a choir on the stage. If I'm entertained, I clap, if I'm thoroughly entertained, I'll stand up/shout, what have you. I will never not give a show choir applause because, having been in show choir, it takes a lot to stand up there and do what you do. But in the manner in which I choose to applaud show choirs should be my choice, I shouldn't feel obligated to stand up for every choir, nor should I be lectured if I choose not to.

I totally agree with you. Of all that I have seen from Attache, this was there worst show, BY FAR. I didn't like the song selection at all. The dancing to the guys song was good, but why would you perform that song? (Walk like a man). The falcesto was bad. I didn't like the ballad either. The closer was good, except some of the lights on the backdrop were burned out, which makes me wonder why they got best set.
Compared to last year, I was extrememly dissapointed with attache this year.
I'm not sure you were at the same competition I was. Clinton's boys number was fantastic. Why would they not do that number? It makes perfect sense for guys to do it. (It did really well for the Jersey Boys and The 4 Seasons.) The young man that did the falcesto did a great job. It is the best guys number I have seen all year and I thought that Super Geek by Garfield Heights would be hard to beat. I want to applaud all the groups that competed. Everyone gave it their all. They only thing that caught me off guard was the fact the Beavercreek didn't make finals. That was the best show I have seen them do all year.
Not to be cruel...but isn't that what judges do? What if they said..."well, I'm sure they tried hard, so I'll give them a 9 though they don't deserve it."
For myself I always applaud the same way...I rarely stand up. I don't like to yell...it's bad for the voice.

As a parent and also an ex-athlete, I would tend to believe you can't tell the difference. But perhaps you received a music degree and if so I could be mistaken.

It is all out of respect. Who cares if the show sucks, they are giving it there all, respect that.

Now that we're talking crew/sets,etc... Could any Hurricane members elaborate on what was wrong with your set last night? Seemed they couldn't get it perfect or something.
Believe it or not that was the first major problem we have had this season. There is a precise way to attach the backdrop and if it is not done in the proper order then chaos erupts! The young man you saw frantically working on it is the one who normally attaches it but was busy with something else. Another kid tried to help out but got the order mixed up and that made the top part very difficult to latch. Not to mention that the stage hand that normally helps with that was hampered with two broken fingers. But it turned out ok and we were very pleased with our kid's performance!

I agree totally with you. Every choir deserves respect and support. That being said I still believe that a standing ovation should be reserved for a truly outstanding performance. As I said in another post, if you give one to everyone based on participation then you kind of cheapen it. At any rate, we are obviously not going to agree so at least allow me to wish Poca good luck at the WVMEA this weekend.

Then you weren't sitting with the majority of the parents. If there is one thing that the Red Hot program is known for it is courtesy to other programs. If you want to make a statement slamming our show that is one thing but to take a personal swipe at parents who put in many hours of volunteer work to keep our kids going is neither appreciated nor needed. P-Town is done for the year? Ahh man, that's no good. I only got to see you once this year. I am not a big fan of rapping in show choir...well unless you were to rap the "ryden dirty" song or whatever LoL. But other than that, I think it was a definate improvement from last year. Last year was good, but I felt like alot of the time the choir seemed to yell. This year I thought you sounded alot better. You are definatly one of the top OHIO groups in my opinion. DO you guys ever go out of state? I was never sure if you did or not.
Anywho......you guys did very well and I wouldn't be dissapointed. You guys really did have a good show.
i thought piqua did fantastic...yesterday was my first time seeing the show this year and i was impressed...the ballad was awesome!!! great performance to end the year
So what was everyone's opinion on Piqua's last show of the year, if you were able to see?
I had a blast saturday. Much thanks to everyone. And all the people I talked to in CLinton were really nice. You're director is a baller. And I'm pretty much pumped that I got to meet the son of the Million Dollar Man. Big time highlight. haha

But did they leave the competition before the awards were announced? And if so, is that typical, or were they just getting a headstart back to Mississippi.
I didn't consider it rude or anything, but it sorta stumped me...
No they didnt leave early... they even accepted their medals on stage... they hung around pretty late actually...
