Well I'm gonna give my views on the day.

Davenport-I thought you were AMAZING! Your show just really gets my attention and your novelty is just hilarious. You guys deserved best choreography.

Valley- I think your show has potential. It reminds me of our senior year. Esp. the last number. It really takes a lot out of you and you really have to be in shape to keep it going half way through your show. You have the potential to be vocally dominant. I think some parts of your show could be cut because it slows down a bit. In my opinion the "boom boom pow" could be cut. But overall I like the show. :D

Muscatine- Wow your opener, like many others have pointed out, is amazing. I was literally a little creeped out when you got set for that. I will never say any of you are out of character. The show is really deep and I like that. However, I feel that maybe there needs to be a change in undergarments ( I know that's awkward) but quite a few people noticed with the all white outfits. I like where you guys are going. Hopefully I can see you again near the end of the season when you've worked on a few things.

Xavier- I haven't seen you guys in years. Wow! Your vocals are amazing and really just moved people with them. I have to say your show is def. interesting. I liked the ballad and you are def. in character for every song change. I did like your opener. Seeing as it was usually the ballad of the day I liked the up paced version the best.

Dowling- I didn't get to see you during finals but I did enjoy your closer. You had so much energy during it. Now if you can put that much into the rest of your show it would be even better.

Bloomington Kennedy- I had you slated for 3rd place after your night show. I though you had improved during the night and fixed a few things from the day. I hope to see you again soon as well. I sat next to some of your parents and they were really nice. I had never seen you guys before so it was cool to see a different group.

Ridiculous Jay. Just ridiculous.

Amen to that. Really sad that it came to name-calling. We're all adults here.

This is why I can't stand Xavier people.... because they have sticks up their butt and are so stuck up.... Always have been, and apparently always will be.... Jesus Christ... Can't I make a statement that 3 1sts and 2 6ths smells fishy? I'm not trying to hate on Xavier but you guys are REALLY making it hard for me not to.

You just don't realize. I AM AN ANDY FAN. I LOVE HIS STUFF AND I THINK IT IS GREAT. MR REESE HAS BEEN ONE OF MY DIRECTING MENTORS AND IDOLS SINCE I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I HAVE A TON OF RESPECT FOR HIM. JUST BECAUSE I THINK ITS FISHY THAT THE RESULTS WENT LIKE THAT AND TWO PEOPLE WHO I HAVE FOUND TO BE SCREWY JUDGES IN THE PAST ALSO HAD SCREWY PLACINGS THIS COMPETITION DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO BE A *ITCH AND SNOTTY.

I did also say in my first post about fair fehr that I usually do not agree with cancelling out a judge's opinion. They are hired for that specific reason- to give their opinion. But i NEVER said i changed my mind because Xavier would not win. Give me some credit instead of putting words in my mouth.

Damn I was having a really good day until you posted that.

3 out of 6 is not a majority by any stretch of imagination. Sure, it's more, but Central's three other rankings were 4 6 6 after all.

Have you now changed your mind about Fehr Fair, Jay, because it doesn't result in a CSI win?

But Central had 3 1sts and Xavier had 2... to me that is a majority and it sings of a win for Central.

But does anyone know the actual FF rules and can confirm who is right? Sorry that I can't rely on someone who has no association and looks to have been out of show choir for 10+ years.

as far as scoring goes id say its about fair if you look at it the way i do. If you take the average of all the schools placings in finals and average them it comes out like this

Xavier- 1.67
Central- 3.17
Valley- 3.17
Bloomington Kennedy- 3.67
Muscatine- 3.83
Dowling- 5.5

And as just posted central and valley end up in a tie but apparently central comes out .5 points ahead. Just another angle on the scoring

as for the finals results choralation and CSI were in a tie breaker if anyone is interested. we got 2nd runner up by .5 points, in vocals. but hey! we made up a TON of points from the day, and got way close to 1st runner up.

I felt that IC West should have been in finals, but they weren't very versatile in their vocals. Their ballad was absolutely gorgeous though!

I was super angry that I couldn't make it to this competition. I heard that this competition was very close and that Iowa City West totally got robbed. What did people think of Iowa City High's show? I haven't heard much about them so far this year.

I wouldn't say TOTALLY robbed. Their vocals were certainly some of the best I heard all day long. But their show itself and choreography was really lacking.

You're wrong. Under the Fehr Fair system Xavier would have won. The FF system is based on majority voting. Central got 3 out of 6 first place votes, which is not a majority. Therefore you go to the next step, compare Central and Xavier alone, and 3 judges have Xavier before Central. Tied. Therefore go to the next step, look at both first and second place votes. All 6 judges had Xavier in first or second, only 3 judges had Central in first or second, therefore Xavier wins.

But Central had 3 1sts and Xavier had 2... to me that is a majority and it sings of a win for Central.

I just want to say... this reminds me already of Mount Pleasant 2009. Why is it that Xavier and Davenport Central always have to be so close??? Haha

I believe it's a great testament to how competitive both programs have become over the past few years. Xavier has leapt to great heights since I've been in high school, and I can only imagine how much they'll grow over the years!

A few of my thoughts...

3) Muscatine. Favorite song of the day goes to your opener. I didn't really understand what was going on with the whole transformation thing during the day rounds, but at night it really made sense and was really cool. I can't wait to see your show again. Also, I have to give a shout out to your guy dancer that was front center for opener. He was easily one of the top 3 dancers of the entire competition.

His name is Ben Rivera. We're very lucky to have him.
