Just for clarification from the HOA staff or attending directors/students... are Fairfield MS, Lake Forest MS, and Oak Grove MS competing in the Open Division here at HOA Nashville Day Two? Divisions weren't included on the posted schedule, but based on HOA KC that's how the schedule is set up.

I just want to double check as HOA Nashville Day One is planned to be the Middle School competition with choirs performing Friday night. The schedule/list of attending choirs doesn't appear to be posted for that one yet, so I was curious if the middle school event was consolidated to Saturday.

If someone could clarify whether those three middle schools are in the Open Division or their own Middle School Division that would be excellent. Just want to make sure everything is represented accurately on here.

Going off of the experience I had at HOA Kansas City this year performing earlier (even though we went at noon) was really nice it gave everyone a lot of time throughout the day to refuel and prep for finals, it took away the whole rushing to get everyone back to performance ready! Just the way things were set up was so much more relaxing for the directors and performers! HOA knows what they're doing!

interesting....! I wonder how that would go over at a regional competition like Mt. Zion or Danville, IL, seeing groups like Waubonsie going at like 9am.

Very cool to see the large mixed going earlier in the day! Most of those larger choirs are used to going at 4 or 5 in the afternoon!

Directors have the schedule with timing and divisions. Can somebody ask their director for it and post it here? I already contacted HOAEntertainment and they said it was fine to post it.

So since Fairfield's middle school is so dang good... do they have a shot at finals here??

That would be really cool, however I do believe that Fairfield Rhythm Express may have signed up for the Middle School competition on Friday, and is not in the Championship Division, and therefore is not eligible for finals.

It will also depend on what division some of these choirs signed up for. At HOA, only Championship Division choirs seem to be eligible for finals. Single-Gender Division and Open Division choirs, which are usually smaller schools or mixed prep groups, just compete within their own division and the overall highest score performs again in exhibition before finals.

Or at least this seems to be the format of HOA so far.

They did get beaten by two groups attending though- Choraliers and Troy. Add Zionsville, ALA, and Oak Grove, and I would say probably not. However, you just never know!

Except for FAME Orlando in 2013 and the Franklin Central Hoosier Classic in 2014... I've never competed against this many top-level groups before!! I'm so excited and ready for the challenge!!

otherwise... any predictions for the finals round?

This looks to be a sneaky good competition. Groups from a lot of different states and regions coming to this one should make it a fun day to watch with a lot of diversity on the stage.

Since you're asking for it and I'm bored and have nothing better to do on my Tuesday night, I'll start off the blind predictions that everyone loves

GC: Zionsville (BV)
1RU: Fairfield (BC, BB)
2RU: Oak Grove
3RU: Shepherd Hill
4RU: ALA

How many are they taking for finals at each comp? Same as last year?

On their website it says five finalists for each event. That's the same as last year, if I remember correctly.

We have 19 groups from 8 different states and the event is going to be fantastic!! We are eager to publish our list of groups, but simply are waiting for our HOST group to get final school board approval before announcing everything. Look for a post soon!!

Our group is thinking of attending a competition to be held the weekend of Feb 19th at the Opryland Hotel.... anyone else thinking of going???

The school that I'm in from Massachusetts is planning to attend!! Daniel Hand Vibe from Connecticut went to Show Choir Nationals in tennessee last year (same exact hotel) and they had an awesome time. Looking foreward to going!
