Yeah, with only a few months of activity and more and more schools either starting up groups (a great thing!) or even beginning to host competitions of their own, many dates are starting to get pretty crowded. Just another reason to keep your season running longer!
Certainly a bummer, although not entirely surprising. With Mundelein included, there were a whopping 6 (!) competitions scheduled on this date in the state of Illinois alone with another 6 in neighboring Indiana/Wisconsin. Unfortunately some weekends are just really saturated with show choir - hopefully Mundelein comes back better than ever next year.
