i know it's difficult to make judgements off of youtube videos, but i think you guys look like a pretty solid group!

thanks =]
i'm a 08 grad of mainstreet, and was SO proud of that show. just curious?! if anyone watches our closer, do you think that it's a good closer or that our opener and closer should've been switched?!

I've also added Eldorado Gold Rush to Youtube- they're the ones who got GC at Showfest. All of these shows are on my youtube page- mainstreetmom

Yay!!!!!! We did good!!!! How do I start my own topic? I want to start a topic and find out if there are other competitions out there that allow judges to change scores? Just courious

Troy- you should go to the FAME Chicago forum. It's under the general forums- national competitions. There's 70 pages and some of it is about strange adjudication. I think you'll enjoy

After LA we'll all have to meet up somewhere and I'll show you more about this site. Good Luck this weekend! At least have fun!!!

I guess the reason I ask is because I would like to get a better feel of NM style...

OK- I'm not from NM so my opinion is colored by this. I'm not really sure NM has it's own style yet. I watch the folks in the midwest, south and LA and they all have a distinct style. We seem to be a melting pot of the midwest and the south.
I think it might be because we are so insular. We don't have all the competitions that the other regions have. I'm told that many of the schools don't want other competitions because they don't want to reveal their show. How silly! Competition just makes you better. But...there has been a lot of choirs who have gone to school shows, video taped and stolen shows prior to Showfest so I see where their paranoia comes from. They've shown up in the same costumes, using the same extras... So, as a result we haven't developed a NM Style.
Another thing is that every choir (except maybe Main Street) really varies from year to year. It just seems like NM is floundering trying to define ourselves- kind of like teenagers. Jumping from one style to another without stopping to see if one sticks. I guess that's why we should give our directors credit. Our style has consistantly been rock- at least that is how we've been defined. Some say the "rock" style we have hurts us- but at least we have a style. I'm not sure about this- since we got best vocals this year. Maybe the vision is working.
When I'm able to post the vids I'd love to get some opinions. It's hard when your so insular to gauge how it's going to work on the broader stage.

Hi all, once I get the DVD I'll download it onto U-tube. It would be great to hear people's critiques.

Care to dwell on shows?

Yeah- it would be great to hear people outside of Albuquerque's thoughts.

See how your Californians are!?! Someday! By the end of the day I might wish I was at your invitational too " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Hey- can you get a better vid of your show up on youtube? I really want to see the true picture of your show.

Hey Mainmom, my brother lives in Socorro, retired from the School of Mines, but my point is, I've certainly heard of you! I know a lot about New Mexico and I love it! My daughter, who is SoCal Show Choir, was formerly on a competitive dance team which competed against your awesome NM dance teams annually at Tremaine Las Vegas. Good luck at your show choir competition: Don't worry, it will grow and get bigger and better every year.

I'm so glad someone has heard of us!!!!

whose no longer around- pretty sure Del Norte's show choir- my son says they have an amazing concert choir (he thinks)

We think Las Cruces is still around, not sure about Protales.

The other three will be there plus St. Pius X, Moriarty.

I'm going to try to get the schedule tomorrow and I'll post it then.

Thanks for asking- it's good to be noticed when your out in the middle of nowhere.

no problem
does new mexico have any other competitions? or is it pretty much a festivals only state (like KS)
so the lineup will be:

La Cueva
Eldorado
Manzano
Sandia
St. Pius X
Moriarty
