I forgot I never really shared my thoughts about last weekend! Overall, what an incredible competition. I was taken off guard by the strength of both Single-Gender groups that competed. Fairfield Mixed once again proved they are a force to be reckoned with in the Midwest. Their theme and the execution was spot on.

That being said, there was one major downer for me. Piqua's show was seamless, elegant, and beautiful in the first half of the show. I loved the ballad, and both male soloists in the ballad and fourth number. But about halfway through the closer I was suddenly blinded by cornea-frying LED lights that seemed even brighter than they actually were because of the excessive flashing and changing of colors. I have never had a problem with bright lights in a show choir show in the past. I usually have a tolerance for it, actually. But even I had to turn away for a whole minute and a half. I found at the end of the show that I hadn't seen the entire second half of Piqua's closer. Now, I'm not a lawyer, but I'm fairly certain that when you're in that position, you have a legal obligation to let your audience know that there might be lights that could be seen as harmful to the eyes. Luckily, no one in the audience was epileptic. I know a seizure in the audience is an extreme scenario, but the fact that I had no warning really did take away from the show for me. :/

Hello!

Wanted to clarify a few things about Central Crossing! In the festival division there were five groups: Marion Harding Extreme, Milton Union, Elgin, Whitehall yearling and River Valley. The placement for this division is listed wrong on this website. GC was Marion Xtreme but first runner-up was Whitehall Yearling and second runner-up was Elgin. Also there was a mistake and Marion Harding could not qualify for Best Band because of more than one adult in their combo so Best Band went to Whitehall. Hopefully the errors will be corrected on here! Thanks!

Thanks, that has been updated. It would be great if we could avoid these errors in the first place if competitions would actually provide performance schedules with divisions listed... but that's a topic for another day.

Awesome start to the season for OH show choir. Any thoughts on any of the shows?

I am not a fan of Single-Gender choirs in general, but this comp was an exception. Marion Harding had an incredible sound for an all-male choir, even though there are things they need to work on. (But it's only the first comp! ) But Pure Elegance.... Woah. They are a completely different choir compared to previous years. They took a bold and daring chance, and it worked in their favor. Their fourth number is a little racy, but it needed to be! I am a big advocate for female equality, and this show made me so incredibly happy to watch! Congrats, PE!

AMAZING. I had Piqua ahead of PE. Although, I honestly had no clue who was going to win between the FF mixed and Piqua. FF mixed and Piqua put on AMAZING finals performances especially it being the first weekend. I was dumbfounded after finals and before awards.

Looks like Fairfield girls just finished according to Twitter, which would mean that final awards should be right around the corner!

Ignore that last one; I missed the second page and can't figure out how to edit/delete anything.

Live feed for this???

I don't believe so. They never have in the past, and I would assume they'd announce it if they did have a stream. But it would be very nice for some people who don't want to risk these crazy driving conditions!
