Apparently LeMars was 3 points behind Gretna in 3A. 3 points separated making finals and not making finals. Love the competition of show choir.

Thanks to everyone who attended for a fantastic day. The two centers worked out very well - both were jam packed at the end of the day- so lots of performers were able to see other groups! Everyone who helped host was so impressed and complimentary of the guest performers and their parents. It makes it a lot of fun when everyone is nice!!! Congratulations to all the schools who performed throughout the day - the dedication certainly shined through in your efforts!!

Sounds like another great year for the Emmetsburg Invitational. I'm extremely disappointed I didn't make it back to this one. Next year for sure, Mr. Fog! Ethan Price will be in attendance.

Congratulations to all the schools who participated and placed. What a great turn out Eburg had this year. Can't wait to see this competition grow further. Keep it going, Mr. Fog!

I'm not posting much after competitions this year, but I want to congratulate Studio for bringing home a championship in Steve Woodin's final year!! You guys have been so close this year, losing once on rankings when you were ahead in points, and once on points when you were ahead in rankings. I'm so happy you've stuck with it strong and closed out this part of your season with a day you should all feel proud of. Enjoy it for a few days, then prep like crazy to get ready for Nashville. I'm VERY proud of you guys! God Bless, Damon

Prep was Synergy, Vitality, Evolution, then Sound Attraction.

I must say I'm actually glad LeMars didn't make finals. But shh, the secret lies with us.

Tomorrow folks. Too bad I wont be making it up for this. Anyone else gonna throw out predictions?

I predict that the food at Emmetsburg will be excellent like always. I predict I won't be able to eat much of it because of my stupid gall bladder. I further predict that I will be sitting in a comfy chair somewhere all day unless Vitality or Studio are performing.

Hey y'all...it's LaRaya. And it's time to get some predilicadictions up in hur...

I've been confabbin to my girls, LaShadra, Bon'Qui'Qui, and Fri'chikiniqua from Lincoln and they are so ready to brang it on for this weekend. They've got their nails did and have so much lye and pomade in their hair they won't be able to light a match around themselves for weeks. I'd watch yoselves, other choirs, these girls are fierce and they know how to defend themselves in the school yard.

Now, about this Johnston and this Urbandale. I've seen botha their shows and all I gots to say is that they need to bring the sass and the class. There is so much white on the stage it puts Waukee's costumes to shame. mmmmmhm...

JV show choirs seem to be bigger than a seven finger poof at this compy. I seen the stuff that Synergy and Vi.tal.i.ty put down on the wood. I think it's a total draw, y'all. Synergy puts out more sound, but Vitality has more personality. Guuuurl...

Well, I gotta bounce. Eat yoself some collard greens and stay blessed, y'all!!!

xoxo

My predictions on finalists:

1A/2A: Sumner-Fredericksburg

Johnston 'Innovation'
Urbandale 'Studio 2010'
Bloomington Jefferson 'Jefferson Connection'
Urbandale 'Vitality'
Johnston 'Synergy'

The last spot should be a pretty nice battle between Gretna, LeMars, Carroll, and maybe Des Moines Lincoln. I'm gonna give Gretna the nod because of history, but Emmetsburg always has a couple of surprises so you never know.

Emmetsburg is welcoming Sumner-Fredericksburg to the Invitational for the first time.
They have a history of being one of the top 2A schools in the state for a long time - 29 consecutive years of Division I's at state and an whole lot of finals qualifications.
I have never seen their show choir- but know of their reputation and am really excited to see them.

It really isn't right to dismiss a smaller school and assume they will not be able to hold a candle to the 4A level. Iowa has four or five 2A schools that have great traditions and pursue excellence with small student numbers and limited budgets- and that number is growing. They may finish behind the larger schools at Emmetsburg - we'll just have to wait and see. Thats why the game is played.

Though we were dismissing the smaller schools, it wasn't in the manner that you are sort of implying we were. I in no way wanted to undermine the amazing talent of the 2A schools in Iowa, and I realize that you probably felt a possible personal tag on yourself, Mr. Fog and I did NOT mean that in anyway. Schools like Emmetsburg, Westwood, Hinton, Danville, Des Moines Christian, Hudson, etc. are all great programs with amazing reputations. I was just saying that the level of competition at Emmetsburg this year is just THAT good. With all of the fantastic 4A, 3A, and especially this years prep category, it is gonna be difficult for anyone to make finals. Sure there are the favorites, but those last few spots are gonna be super hard to obtain with all of the fantastic groups you managed to snag this year.
