I'd just like to say how proud I am of Xuberance for winning prep, considering they could technically compete as a 9th grade group!

I would still be interested in seeing scores and/or rankings. Especially, because it always intrigues me when the Grand Champion does not receive Best Vocals or Best Choreography.

In finals, Prairie received rankings of 1 2 2 3 4

I'm assuming that means that Kennedy received 3 first place votes since we received one and according to Jack, West received one

I'd be more interested in scores though if anybody has them cause I think those would better show how close the groups were as well as how the captions panned out the way they did

So because no one has posted more scores I'll share what I know in addition to what I said earlier. I know that Prairie and Xavier were tied in day rounds and Prairie got the nod on a tiebreaker.

Great day of show choir yesterday at Benton. Mr. Hayden, Ms. Schmuecker (likely misspelled...sorry!) and all the volunteers do a great job. AcaPella enjoyed sharing the stage with all of the great groups at TOC. The variety of different styles of show, and creativity exhibited, was staggering. Truly something for everyone. LD Kidd did a great job as emcee, too!

Side note: after finals, we ordered pizzas for our group from The Crooked Antler in Van Horne....absolutely wonderful pizza, made incredibly fast! Props to the Benton dad's that recommended it to us!

Show choir in Iowa is alive and well!

I, too, love the Crooked Antler.

Okay first off, chill. I have nothing against Prairie. As for the time penalty, that's just what I was told by multiple people from multiple schools. And I was told by our wonderful hosts from Benton community that the reason we were running behind was due to Prairie's set up and take down. Negative posts? Yeah uh okay, I don't really think that's true.

In fact, looking back at all of my posts this year, the only other time I have mentioned Prairie was when I praised Focal Point becuase I think they have an awesome show this year. Furthermore, my friends hung out with a prairie girl yesterday and I got along with her just fine, so I'm really confused as to where you think I'm biased against Prairie

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

I mean yeah, plus based on past results I know Focal point has beaten Xavier twice, and I can't re-emphasize enough how much I liked their show when I saw it at Prairie. But congrats to Xub and Mrs. Hussey!

Yes! Most improved group I have seen this year! Way to go xub!

That's correct and from what I saw on the score sheet they were EXTREMLY CLOSE. I was veeeeery impressed with focal point and thought they were going to win the category to be 100% honest

I think for prep Marion got fifth and Indianola got 6th and 7th. And yes please I'd be interested to see any sort of points, prep or varsity! I'd imagine the top four for prep was super insanely close.

Correction, Focal Point actually placed fourth in the prep division behind Showtime, Protege, and Xuberance but here are the full prep placements, however my memory is not that strong so correct me if I'm wrong

Prep Placements:
1st - Xavier
2nd - Kennedy
3rd - IC West
4th - Prairie
5th - Indianola "Flip Side"
6th - Marion
7th - Indianola "Sidewayz"
8th - Davenport North

Other Open Division Captions:
Best Female Soloist: CR Kennedy
Best Costumes: Davenport North
Most Creative Song: CR Kennedy
Most Creative Show: IC West
Best Crew: Pella

Also, if somebody has full point totals or rankings or anything that would be much appreciated if you were to post them!

Meaning this in the nicest way possible but why do you constantly, post after post, have something negative to say about the Prairie show choirs? If there is a justifiable reason to that many of us would like to know because it seems like every event that both Xavier and Prairie attend there is a negative post concerning something Prairie did wrong or something you didn't like.

As was every other school that went for the day rounds. As Allison said The Ambassadors were at their scheduled warm up on time and proceeded to wait just to get on the stage until 4:45. The Ambassadors taking ten extra minutes to set up for their first performance, (Second performance was set up during a break) in no way could have forced such a large time gap to where awards were and hour and a half behind. Putting the blame solely on Prairie is rude. No time limit was given and before posting that you might want to check the facts on what you're saying

This is my first year on the site and as I know you do too, I spend a lot of time on it. Looking over each forum I see nothing but respectful posts and predictions until I see the negative posts you choose to post. It seems that there is a common courtesy on what to post that everyone has learned besides you. This site shouldn't be a place where people come to complain about other show choirs it is about getting results and sharing opinions on almost every topic. It would be much appreciated if the negative comments and crazy statements about time penalties could stop because even if you have negative comments to make, please keep them off of a site that is used to share information and build show choir relationships.

Well I know that we were in our warm up at the correct time and everything was on time, and then Benton people came in and told us that Prairie was still setting up and performing, and that we would have to wait another 45 minutes.

Like I said before, day rounds the judges pushed things back because the prep groups ran a little late so they needed time to eat which pushed back day rounds by I wanna say 10-15 mins. Then yes prairie did add to that but not by much as people are making it out to be. Prairie was efficient with their set up and worked as fast as they could from what I saw. This isn't a timed competition so why does it even matter? Control the contrables

It's a little silly to imply that the tardiness of the event was solely the responsibility of Prairie, considering we were backstage ready to set up at 4:20(our scheduled time), but waited nearly 15 minutes for the previous group to finish their show. .

Due to Prairie we are currently running way behind

Notes for varsity, I heard that Prairie revived a time penalty in day rounds.

Additionally, this is not a timed event, so there are no time penalties given.

Regardless, I was extremely impressed by the event today. All of the volunteers and hosts were fantastic, and the decor of the event was lovely. The lighting rigs and sound system in the gym were phenomenal. Every group I saw today was killer, and a big congratulations to every group for performing in a venue that isn't very "friendly" to show choirs. I'm glad that Prairie returned to this event this year, and I hope that this is one we continue to go to in the years ahead.

There are no time penalties at TOC according to their website

Does anyone have the finals placements? This looked like a very tight finals round
