No, they did not. Valley's PREP group won the best band award. I'm imagining it's a bunch of the same players, but the charts and how they were played were different. Obviously, though, a stellar band for both groups!

Makes sense. Just double checked with my sister and she said it's the exact same band.

Thanks!!! I saw Valley's prep last year, and their band was one of the best I heard all year long!!

So did Valley "Choralation" win Best Band or not? It was provided in the daytime captions, but not listed up top. And it was refuted (hesitantly) in the forum. Do we know? Mr. Temple???

According to friends in Spectrum they had 4 first place votes and Millenium and Mitchell had 1 first place vote each.

This competition was insanely close. Top four could have gone anywhere easily. I have been told that very few point divided top four in day time. It just went crazy at finals!!!

The drummer is Derek Pham, and it was an award for Best Instrumentalist. The male soloist was Matthew Hrdlicka, and the female duet was Linda Tong and Sofi Mandil.

Valley recieved best instrumental performer, no best male performer. I think the name was Derek Phan

Thanks for verifying that. All my family told me was that he got best male performer- I found that strange to go to a band member.

There was an error in the scoring discovered after the daytime awards. Eternal Rush was originally shorted 2 points on their total which moved them into fourth place in prep. They should have finished 3rd just ahead of Sound Advice.

An announcement was made during finals correcting the error and we will have a third place trophy made for Ankeny Centennial's "Eternal Rush." Just wanted to get corrected results posted here as well.

Show choir is changing in Iowa! I personally think that Centennial placed below how good they were last year. Probably because of how innovative and different they were from the mold of traditional Iowa show choir. This was a big step for Iowa! Congrats to Centennial!
