Hey mysti chic,
Thanks, I'm glad you liked toxic, I had an amazing time performing it.

As for the only person who thinks it's trashy - I admit it is kind of sexual, but that's because it is a sexual song, and it is a very popular song known by probably almost all of your students. If you thought this was trashy you should take a look at the music video for the song and you will see that Britney Spears' portrayal of the song is much more scandalous than our dance to it. I think it was done in a very tasteful way and the moves that weren't so tasteful were removed from the performance on Saturday night. Although you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine, it's very rude to criticize us of being what we aren't. And I guess the reason I am getting upset about this is because I don't think you understand how hard we work at doing what we do and how much we love to entertain and express our creativity and talent. By calling i

yea but if the parents dont want their kids to watch they will leave haha no jk jk

i dont care if its risque (sp??) as long as its performed well!

to the girl who hosted the solo competion room: you are so nice! you kept us entertained inbetween solos and you did an awesome job on stage. i like the toxic dance. it was entertaining. i'm sure some of the parent's thought it was inapropriate but i liked it.

i also love homestead's 2nd number! a secretary is not a toy! it cracks me up!    great job to everyone  who was there!

That is so sweet of you to say. I had a blast. Im glad I could keep you all entertained.

One thing about the competition that drove me crazy was while I was trying to enjoy Churubusco's performance, there was this group of 'kids' that were laughing and carrying on during the entire show. I frankly didn't see anything funny at the time to be laughing at...I must be getting old! They were definitely from the middle school competition and I wish that one of the adults that was sitting with them would have done something...but nope. They just sat there and ignored them like I wished I could have done! dry.gif

Other than that, the competition was great! Hats off to both Busco' and Col City...You seem to have a fire that hasn't been there in years past! And, to those who did the dance 'Toxic', it was a bit 'edgy', but after all...it's just dance. I thought you performed very well, I know I couldn't do what you did...they'd be carrying me off in a stretcher! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

OK I wasn't there so I can't give an opionion. What I would like to know however, is I have seen Homestead's show several times this year. And I thought the song that was in question was the secretary song. So what did you do that offended people supposedly. I guess I find it kinda funny when you look at your director directing your ballad she doesnt strike me as someone who would allow this type of show Art or Not. And again I wasnt there this is not an opionion but a clarification on the song Toxic. And I AM NOT BASHING YOUR DIRECTOR. SO DONT GO THERE EITHER. Congrats to Teays Valley I saw them early in the season and loved their show. Also to Carroll and Col. City. Sounds like I should have been there Sat. especially for the food. lol

Thas cool, but my comment had nothing to do with defending or supporting his opinion towards your toxic dance. I just said it cause I wanted to let him know!

Mr. Cremeans,
I respect your opinion, I have no hard feelings towards you, I was only trying to defend myself and my group so I hope you understand.

Thanks,
Matt

I would just like to congradulate the director from Columbia City! His skills have taken Columbia City to a new level. Being from Carroll and having Columbia City as a neighbor, I have seen their show every year since my freshman year (im now a senior) and they have developed into a very mature group, following their leader, Mr. Directorman (sorry i have never formally met him) But likewise, he always wished my group "minstrel magic" the best of luck when we saw him in the hallway, and he shook my hand telling me we had an awesome season before boarding the buses at homestead. So my hat is off to you Mr. Directorman, best of luck in next years competitions!

What a nice way that was for us to end the season. This wasent exactly the smoothest trip for all of us (Bus problems and stuff) but overall I had a great time =)

To HeirDirector-

I respect your opinion. I understand that you think the dance performed by myself and my friends is of ill taste and should not have taken place Saturday night. However, you have already expressed your unhappiness to our director. I would have thought that would have been enough! But, for some reason, you chose to get onto a STUDENT forum and further express your thoughts there. That is where you should have stopped. As the director of another choir, and as an adult, I would think that you have enough tact and common sense not to say the things you did. As my friend Matt previously stated, dance is a form of art and expression. By saying the things you said, you have done nothing but put down the work of an amazing, well-reputed, hard working choreographer and put down the six of us who performed the dance. I do understand that we asked for people's opinions, but perhaps as the director of another choir, you should have thought twice before posting yours. I am not saying that you don't have the right to your opinion-I am saying that maybe you should have chosen your words more carefully.

By calling it terrible (not to mention with a capital "T" and  6 exclamation points), as well as distasteful and trashy, you are also showing disrespect towards our choreographer. Kristin Pagan is one of the most amazing choregraphers ever and if you could see the passion and hard work she puts into everything she does, you would think twice before bashing one of her pieces of art. And that is exactly what this is all about - a form of art. That's what one of the main purposes of our competition was, to showcase the art of different show choirs, soloists and other performers. And to bash our dance by expressing your negative opinion seems unfair to me as you can see. But again, that's my opinion and I have expressed it just like you have.

-Matt Vachon

Matt,

Please understand that you and the other dancers asked what people thought, and as for the nature of the song, I realize that it is sexual, the concern is that - it does not belong at a high school show choir competiton (especially one with middle school participants). I am sure you worked very hard to learn the chor. but I along with many others could not get past the "sexual" connotations that were involved. I am sure you guys could have pulled that off very tastfully if you wanted to. However, as you have clearly stated this is just my opinion - take it or leave it.

Best Wishes,
