The sad and depressed people who were unable to watch the live feed, much less attend the competition (cough, myself, cough) are requesting the someone post up a copy of the order form for the DVD.

Please? With cherries and whatever you want on top?

What a great show, and and what a class act Tony is. I appreciate so much the level of passion he has for what he does and for the standards of excellence he continues to set. The best thing is that every year it truly gets better and better. 2008 is going to be insane!

As for the competition itself, Tony pretty much summed up everything that I wanted to say already. Wow, those lights really made a difference. Every time I see how tricked out they look at Burroughs' "Pop Show," I always think to myself, "if only every show choir competition could be like this!" Well, they took a huge step toward pulling that off last night. Seriously, we need to encourage these kinds of things on a more regular basis! I know that competitions are expensive to run - the venue alone must've cost a small fortune last night - but thanks for taking those funds and putting them back into the event itself. The $20 admission fee seems completely justified looking back, and let's face it - it's cheaper than any rock concert out there (not to mention that some of our students could blow more than a couple of those American Idol contestants out of the water!)

Every choir was simply amazing and it was so great seeing friends from all over. Scott's got it right - our region really is something to be proud of. I know I often take it for granted, but we are extremely fortunate to have people and programs here that are of such an amazing caliber. I couldn't even begin to list names, because we'd be here forever. But you all know who you are, and it doesn't matter if you're a singer, a dancer, a tech, a parent, an alumni, a choreographer, a director, or even just an observer who believes in this and gives what you can - you all make an incredible difference. I wasn't saddened by talking to the seniors last night, because I know that the good friendships I have made this year are going to last far beyond the end of the show choir season. Perhaps it's just me, but I felt that 2007 saw one of the most positive, supportive group of students in our circuit than at any other time I can remember. I was sincerely honored to have been asked to take a part in the festivities - no matter how small - because you all mean so much to me. Isn't what we have just amazing?

The coming year is going to see some changes in my life on a professional level, and I am going to commit to helping push the medium (and this competition in specific) even further with the skills that I can contribute. We're going to get that internet feed working seamlessly for everyone across the country, and there are going to be some true revolutions in show choir videos if I have anything to say about it. You all just have to promise to keep working as hard as ever to make the show even better than the last. When I look back at just the last ten years of choir on the west coast, it's unbelievable how far we've come. I can't wait to see what you all have in store next April.

Congratulations to Burbank for a great finish.

Congratulations to everyone for a great comp. The lighting and sound was great. Chula really pulled it off.

Thanks to all the Tech back stage that where there all night helping the choirs as a team, safety was the the main concern, it truly is a unique experience we have here in CA that just hasnt cought on back east, the show must go on and the team is not hurt for tech delays.

To my burroughs Tech, Great job representing the city of Burbank.

To Soundsensations, you guys amazed me with your professionalism, going on without most of your regular combo and pulling out 2nd is truly a sign of what you have achieved this year.

To Powerhouse, Last night was one of the best experiences I have ever felt back stage, Although I was under the risers and could not see you from the audience I know that it was something special. Something is felt even from underneath that is hard to explain and will keep me working behind the scenes for a long time.

To Jen, your gifted imagination is incredible. You make me try harder. It takes me all year to try and match your creativity on stage and then I can only scratch the surface. It is truly an honor working with you.

Brenden, What a way to start a career, you really stepped in and took control. If there where any doubts about Burroughs future, they have been put to rest. I look forward to what you are going to achieve.

Kieth Stevens

Oh.. sorry about the live feed...

I sure wish it worked better. But I had nothing to do with it other than find the man who can do it.

perhaps something we can start to perfect for next year??

6pm...
Just woke up from my coma... (after 3 hours of sleep after the competition, I finally got to go back and fall asleep at 12pm).. so a 6 hour recovery nap sounds nice... even though I am still wiped out.

So Cal started in 1995, and it has now become what I envisioned it to be so many years ago! This why I named it SO CAL and not Chula Vista competition way back then. I wanted to create an Invitational that celebrates this wonderful thing we do on the west coast called show choir and to be one of the best competitions!

Great things about last night:
The Stage lights... the very first competition to incorporate the quantity/quality of lights that should be at EVERY show choir competition! (Thanks to FAME for the inspiration)

The Caption Awards. (Again a FAME origination) and we were the first to bring it to competitions here in California!

Medals. The only competition to let EVERY student who placed in the TOP 3 (Adv. Girls and Adv. Mixed) to leave with something special.

Endless Night and Magic Power/River Deep!!! All done without rehearsing on stage with special guest soloists from Hart, Burroughs, BV and Burbank!!! WHAT A WAY to end the year by bringng up people who have helped defined California show choir by putting them on stage in a special way??? I don't know how I can keep recreating this special tribute every year, but this one turned out awesome!!! Michelle and Agina dueling on stage was a memory I will carry for a long time!

The camraderie that was overflowing last night. From the tech crews to everyone cheering in the audience! I sure wish every competition becomes like this, because a year goes by so fast not to enjoy each other's show!

Idaho and Mt. Eden! THANK YOU for making the trek all the way to San Diego! I thought the audience was VERY supportive of your shows and I hope you had a nice time!

Brett Carroll being lifted up by the Burbank boys on stage like Vince Lombardi was such a great site to see. That and their song they sang brought a tear to my eye.

Burbank... What you did last night was only done ONCE BEFORE in our 13 year history.... BY YOU in 2005
Congrats! Absolute domination.

Burroughs Powerhouse... Your entire show was so freaking good that the whole show pretty much belongs in the HALL OF FAME. That was the best Powerhouse I have seen in quite some time. WOW is the word.

Hart kids are crazy... and fun. and yes.. Gail has the best strut.

Los Alamitos, if you look at the scores, one of the judges had you in first! Congrats on a breakout year and a great season! Dr. Carp just gets better every year!

BV has made leaps and bounds this year. Keep up the great work there!

Carlsbad... Last year's "Big Time" was supposed to be in the program as an inductee into the Hall, but somehow got left out. Sorry about that, but it has been put back in. "Mille" was superb!

btw... who broke the glass wall on the upper lobby lounge? Please send me a text.

To everyone else... If I failed to mention you it is because I can't really put into words what transpired last night. Too much to say in just one post. I'll post more as they come up!!!

The HALL OF FAME is now up for NOMINATIONS....

miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike.. good seein ya buddy.. lets hang out again soon..

Last night was so incredible.. Most of the groups performed SO much better than the last time i saw them..

To Burbank - You guys have soared throughout the whole year and it has concluded with results that reflect that.. I honestly think Impressions' show last night was the best of the entire night (including the mixed groups).. Your opener.. genious.. Sound Dogs was incredible.. also your opener was one of my favorites of the night.. InSync.. way to wrap it up.. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first year in a while (or ever) that Burroughs never beat you.. Quite an achievement.. Props to Mr. Carrol for having the energy and dedication to pull off unbelievable shows with each of his choirs..

Hectic night but it was SO worth it.

Congrats to everyone!!

I don't know who all comes on this thing... and although i wasn't there for terribly long last night, i had a really great time. SoCal was the first competition i'd been to in a few years (sadly)... and i'm glad there were some people i knew so i didn't feel completely lame. Mr. A, i said it last night, and i'm saying it again... terrific competition, and a VERY appropriate stage to work on. and Pablo, seeing you on stage as a judge of anything totally made me see your future... haha, love ya brotha!

Now... to my Alma Mater... I can't think of very many times (if any) that I was more proud of the choir program that ran my life for 4 years than i was last night. after your flawless performance(s) i was a million times prouder to say i used to be a part of something that has continued to grow in excellence. I'm awestruck by your full sweep (and to be perfectly honest, a little jealous =P). Thanks for letting a nostalgic, obnoxious, old alum feel right at home in celebrating your victory with you. Can't wait to see and mingle with you kids some more at pop show.
From the deepest part of me, congratulations, everything you have earned is very well deserved.

Mike - In Sync class of '04

Three choirs from a school on a hill in Burbank...each choir sweeping in their divisions in California's biggest and best competition...and the show choir world is relatively silent. Ouch.

What is there really to say besides, "Congrats"???
