after sleeping on the subject, i realize that i did act rather rash and was just a little (<---- understatement of the century) over the top on the harshness factor. i apologize for my last comment and retract it.

i just find it odd that we could win 1st at manteno and sullivan and then make the finals at pekin and come here and get 3rd...this has been our 1st succesful year....

Keep in mind that at Manteno, you were going against one other school and we weren't exactly the most challenging group to beat. I am going to have to agree that Watseka didn't get screwed. Sometimes good just isn't good enough. Sorry.

Herscher's competition was the most fun one we've been to all year. Great job on hosting a fabulous competition.

Our energy was good and our facials and vocals were both there.

there is a slight difference between them being "there" and them being "good". now which one was hoopeston's? " border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Whoa now Ben, I love Watseka people because they are usually really nice , but that's kinda harsh and flat out rude. Lizzyha, I think you reacted very well. I know if I was in that position I'd be angry and for you to reply calmy, I think, is great. Not that I'm tryin to be a problem solver or anything, but if I recall correctly, some of the same people complaining that Hoopeston won their division at Herscher and being pretty rude about it, were getting very upset when people would say that they didn't think Watseka should have made finals over Herscher at Pekin. So it just seems kinda strange to me that after going through that and having to defend yourselves, that you would go and try to put another group in that same position. I actually did watch Hoopeston Saturday and in my opinion their vocals were not "off the whole time" and they did have energy. It is possible that the person who told you those things may have just be telling you what they thought youd want to hear, I dont know. But they've worked hard just like any other group and for someones bitterness to take over and try to put them down just isnt right. I'm not trying to take sides in any of this, but in general I'm just saying that it's pretty hypocritical of you all to get angry when someone says you don't deserve something and then a few weeks later do the exact same thing to another group.

also i dont understand how a country singer can qualify as a show choir judge

Jamey Garner trained vocally under Robert Hills, he was in the EIU collegians and the Decatur Park Singers and has performed music theater in New York and throughout the country. He has also worked with some of the most famous country music producers in the nation.

Has he ever seen a show choir competition, tho? I understand that he was in the Decatur Park Singers at one time, but to be thrown into a show choir competition without any HS show choir experience is a little odd to me. He didnt judge vocals..from my understanding...he judged show production, right?

...just and opinion

You know Hoopeston has always been overlooked...except when ppl are jealous. Yes we lost our director and now Danville has her and they are awesome...way to go all the more power to you. And yes we are losing our new director as well. But you know we will overcome it just like we always do. I'm sorry though that some ppl took it so badly. Ben, or tenorman, according to the judges they thought we did pretty darn well. Our energy was good and our facials and vocals were both there. I'm sorry you didnt get the place that you thought you should have but don't take it out on us. We had an awesome performance so give us props. If we had been able to see yours i'm sure we could say the same. So forget about it...if you stress yourself out it makes everything not worth it.

P.S. You said that we are all big girls and boys and that we should be able to take a little criticism so maybe you should take your own advice. We can all figure out what W.G.S. is...and no you didn't get screwed.

GO DANVILLE!!!!!!! I'M SOOOOO HAPPY FOR Y'ALL! HOPE YA WIN FAME!!!!!!!

hey, did NRMS Redcoats not go this weekend?

anyway!

i think the results were all pretty well right on, with the exception of high school class AA. i wanna know how hoopeston won our class. from what i was told of their performance at herscher, it sounded like they should not have. i was told their vocals were off the whole time and energy did not carry through the show. also, i heard their choreography was uncomplicated, yet it was polished and tight. manteno, i thought you did quite well, but i notice that half the choir doesn't have facials and it's generally those same people that do not pop and fully extend their choreography movements. i think that may have cost you champs in the division. your vocals were actually better than i heard you before, but toward the end, one could tell you were definetely winded.

anyway, as you should be able to tell, i'm not afraid of stepping on toes. also, i don't think i need to put a disclaimer on my post. we're all big boys and girls, and hopefully we can take a little constructive criticism.

am i at least right on that last comment? " border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Hey guys!!

Well i finally crawled outta bed after a very long weekend!! Wow! I had so much fun yesterday at the competition! I think alot of the groups did the best that i have seen them all season. Everything went really well except the darn power issues. Anyways I just wanted to comment on some groups that i saw yesterday:

Danville: Holy Crap. Can we say new powerhouse? I was simply amazed at your vocals yesterday. I would put this kids above Onalaska in vocals, (maybe not female sound) but very comparable! Mike has given you guys come awesome choreo that allows you to dow hat you do best, sing! I felt that your show was fairly strong the entire time, and your vocals were amazing!

Pekin: Great job!! I think that you guys finsihed up your season strong with your besy performance yet, i have seen you guys a couple times this season and your show just keeps getting stronger and stronger.

Oswego: Where did you come from? I would seriously watch out for this group in the future. They are GOING to be an up on coming group no doubt. Your vocals were nicely done and your show was fun. It was a show that no matter what you had no choice but to pay attention because you were telling a story: Idol Joe all the way. Although yall took a long time to setup and didnt feel that whole ramp thing was effective as it could have been. Congrats on best Combo!

Watseka: You guys have made a new name for yourselfs. You have no idea how proud i am of you guys and what progress you have made since i seen your group my freshmen year. If you keep this up who knows where youll be in 2 or 3 years. Nicely Done!

Manteno: I also think that you guys finished strong this year. I have gotten the chacne to see your show a couple of times and i think this was by far your best performance ever. Your medley is VERY cool and i get it stuck in my head every time i hear it!!

Overall i had a great weekend and felt the competition went very well! I hope that everyone had fun and enjoyed their stay in Herscher!!

ok i know this is kinda out there, but i feel it needs to be said. I am soooo proud of peotone! i know a lot of you probably had never seen them but this is their first year as a mixed group. Every year they get better and better. I just thought i'd say that, haha. Now i just wanna say somethings about groups that i saw that i liked! Danville, amazing! i love you guys!!! Oswego, very well done. I liked how your show told a story. Very very very very very clean nad fun choreo! Pekin, I liked your show a lot better than last years. I didn't get the guys number though, but then again i am sorta slow, haha. I loved the backdrop. I didn't see Watseka but i heard you guys did good, and i'm sure that you guys were. Herscher congrats on a very fun competition!

Congratulations Danville! Once again, you blew me, and probably everyone else in Herscher away. Keep it up, I'm positive there will be more good to come for you. Everyone else was excellent yesterday! I had such a great time....I enjoyed all that I saw. I also was very impressed with Oswego High School. I'm a new fan! Once again, congratulations to everyone, and good luck in the rest of the season!
