I wasn't at Center Grove, but after already seeing Chesterton this year, I can't believe they didn't make the finals...those 5 finalists must have been great! Also, I heard there was a tie in the night show. Does anybody know who tied??? Sounds like this was a tight competition!!!!

I was overall very impressed with the competition at Center Grove this weekend. I thought everyone did awesome! I was just wondering what was up with the anouncer for the Pike girls saying Jason Jonson was their choreographer? I thought they had Damon Brown do all of their choreography? If anyone has any information on this it would be great if you would get back to me! Thanks!

All I can say is that Central Sound was completely blown away when we won GC last night. I can't believe how far we've come since the beginning of the year.

To Zionsville - I loved your style. You guys prove your originality every time you step onto the stage. Great job. To Anderson Highland - I love your opener. I have been trying to find the lyrics to it since Teays Valley and still have had no luck. Isn't it great to know you guys keep your song running in an audience member's head for over two weeks?

Center Grove~

Zionsville- You guys were awesome... My faveorite thing about your choir was how you came on stage, The stage presence you had was amazing! i thought in the opener the vanities were a great idea but in the end it was a little much. the ballad was amazing. My faveorite part was the fashion show... it was off the hook and the costumes were awesome!!! great job zionsville , i cant wait to see you at the cs classic!!!

Dekalb- The dancing-WOW

Center Grove- Our host was really nice! i only got to see parts of their show last weekend at teas and im really glad i got to see the whole show this weekend. i loved the flip. the best part of the show was the ballad... it gave me tears!!!

Overall the competetion was great... not to mention the cafeteria food was awesome...mmmm tacos in a bag

The ballad I thought was just ok.  I think that it was difficult and it was executed well but it didn't grow or go anywhere,  it just kinda stayed in the same spot.  Also, some of it sounded unsupported.

i disagree with your thoughts on the ballad. i thought it was one of the toughest of the night, next to CG, and they pulled it off rather well. it was acapella, which alone is hard. and the arrangment was also difficult. i thought it did go somewhere, in my opinion. props to zionsville.

again thats my opinion...

I just want to give a big congrats to everyone in the Center Crove Choral program. This competition has always been one of the classiest, most well run competitions on the curcuit and this year was no exception. Chris Pratt deserves to be commended for making an already amazing program even better!

My Thoughts on Finals:

Lawrence Central: It started out kinda blah for me. It was the same old classy old style broadway you guys usually do. But it was clean and vocally very strong. Then the rest of the show was a lot better I thought. I really enjoyed your guys number and you have great great soloist this year. The ballad was beautiful although I think there were a few BLENDING problems but otherwise, it was very good. The tap was great and so was the the closer. I thought you deserved best vocals and Grand Champs, great job.

Zionsville: Again, the opening was not my favorite. I hated the props and the stage was cluttered and the dancing came second to the props and acting so I didn't enjoy it very much. It was very strong vocally though. However, the second number, Vogue, was very very impressive. So creative and you guys pulled it off amazingly. I loved it. I can't say anything more than I loved it. The ballad I thought was just ok. I think that it was difficult and it was executed well but it didn't grow or go anywhere, it just kinda stayed in the same spot. Also, some of it sounded unsupported. The guys number was amazing and the closer was crazy and great and so creative. A deserved first runner up! great job

Dekalb: This was by far my least favorite show of the evening. I am a HUGE fan of Dekalb and I always have been. I thought all your costumes were amazing and your set was very good as well as the band. The opener was great and typical Dekalb with hard dancing and good vocals. However, after that, the show was just not up to snuff. The little puppet number was cute but since people were standing behind people, it cut off half of your sound and it was already hard to understand what you were saying. Then the tap number wasn't as good as last years number and it didn't really have the same affect as last years. The ballad started out really well but then it kinda just died off at the end. It went nowhere. The song choice was great but it wasn't executed well. Then the semi-guys number just was not good in my book. The girl soloist was great but the guys never proved to me in the show that they could sing. The girls number was ok. The closer had great dancing but absolutely no vocals. I would be fine with the yelling in the closer if you had proved you could sing earlier in the show but you hadn't yet. Best visuals maybe

Carroll: You all again did a great job. It is not my absolute favorite show of yours but it is done well. The opener was the best part. The dancing was the best I've seen from you guys since Livin' on a Prayer and the vocals in the opener were great. The second number was good too. The ballad was sung beautifully and I thought it was one of the best of the day. The guys number was awesome. The costumes were dead on and they performed the heck out of it and sang. The girls number kinda slowed the show down for me but it was still solid. The closer was great and finished the show nicely.

Anderson Highland: I really liked your show a lot and your style. You guys do things differently and I respect that . The opener/ballad thing was great and different. The vocals on You there In the Back Row were awesome and it opened the show by showing you kids could sing. Then the guys number, Faith, was one of the best I've seen in a long time. It was phenominal. The girls number was really good and had really good energy, I just felt like you were yelling a little bit. The closer was amazing with great vocals and awesome dancing. great job.

After it was all over, this is how it should have gone:

GC: Lawrence Central
1RU: Zionsville
2RU: Carroll
3RU: Anderson Highland
4RU: Dekalb

Center Grove: I have never been a huge fan of center grove. You guys always are good but some things you do kinda annoy me. However, I really really enjoyed your show this year. The opener was good but kinda confusing. I don't really like when choirs do that whole make fun of show choir thing cuz it comes off as in between serious and playful and it just doesn't work. The vocals and dancing were good though. Then the guys number again was kinda cheap to me. You just kinda stood there and sang and rested on the props and old tricks to keep the crowd interested. Not my favorite. THEN, from the ballad on I really think you guys are a whole new show choir. The ballad was literally the best I've heard in YEARS. UNBELIEAVABLE. You did everything. INCREDIBLE soloist, a beautiful a capella ballad with NO DIRECTOR on stage and you had great cutoffs and dynamics. Just showing that with hard work, choirs don't need their director out there and they can perform to the audience. I cannot say enough about the ballad. The BEST!! Then the Porter number from Anything Goes was also unstoppable. Great soloist, who is an amazing dancer too, and the tapping in the number was the best I have ever seen in all my long days of watching show choir. REally. The closer costumes were great and the closer was simply amazing. You guys truly deserve all the GC you've won this year. Great job.
