Yeah, I'm actually from Parkway South- our guys have been working on that show since last year. They love it, and they work so hard on it. Last competition (Rock Bridge) they got first in the Single-Gender division. One of our history teachers at South is actually a former Marine, and he coordinated all their uniforms and got them the guns and patches and such. We all cry everytime we see it. I hope you all enjoyed it! And I hope sometime you guys check out our women's group "Southern Belles" and our mixed group "Showstoppers". We'll be at Nevada and Mundelein!

Also did anyone see the Parkway South "Southern Gentlemen" show? Wow --- very moving ---- i thought they were awesome. Love it when people go outside the box and do new things in show choir!!! Or at least when it's done successfully!!! lol

yep yep - i hear ya all - what a great competition!!!

I thought MTZ and SULLY were both so awesome that it had to be a tough call for first and second --- both were so different but equally good.

Congrats P-hill!! You guys are so awesome -- Loved the Sullivan girls too !!!
Can I just say that I want to be in Sullivan just to wear all those GORGEOUS costumes. (both the mixed and the girls)

HIII! Congrats to both Mtz and Sullivan! We had a lot of fun this weekend. Thanks to Troy for putting on a great comp and allowing us to jump in the comp at the last second possible!!!!

Id have to say we did pretty well for a choir that wasnt even supposed to be there WE GOT BEST DICTION! Lol....and Rock on Chris for best male soloist. (Along with best opener and Congrats to the band for best band!) We had a lot of fun, although at first we were upset about not getting to go to Hastings.

Thanks Jorge! I <3 u!

So enough about Mtz and Sully! Whatd you guys think of our show? haha...nah keep talkin bout whatever. Give us some feedback tho!

Mt Zion....Keep Rockin it up there. You all kick butt and I was very impressed that you could still give us vocals while you were shakin it so hard! Congrats!

Sullivan....Loved the gold shoes. :-D

Mt. Zion got ROBBED!!!  What were the judges thinking?!?!??!  They are awesome this year.  (just like every other year!)  Plus, they are the true definition of show choir.  They sing AND dance, and they don't use glitzy props to sell their show.  I think some people in Sullivan need to go to show choir 101 and learn that show choir is not about props...I think they are getting musicals and broadway confused with show chior.  Sorry, Mt. Zion.  I wish you guys the best of luck in Dekalb.

just a thought.....

show choir is about entertaining. its not about lots of props or intense dance breaks; however, if you think that is what entertains people, use it. dont tell people to go to "show choir 101" if they have a different style.

What a great competition!!! Thank you everyone who decided to come!

I really think that Sullivan deserved to win! I didn't get to see them at Mt. Zion, but from what I hear it was an amazing turn around! MTZ was amazing also...but I just think Sullivan had the edge! What a great Sullivan show! Congratulations!!

I can't WAIT for Sullivan's invitational now...I think MTZ is going to be there as well...it'll be interesting to see how they do!

Again, I do think Sullivan had the best show of the night hands down! But congratulations to everyone...what a blast!

I defnitely thought that mtz and sullivan both had very good shows.... but if they want to go by who jus sings the best... then yes sullivan would have one... but i also thought that mtz sang very very.... well!!  If they would have actually judged by best show... MTZ WITOUT A DOUBT!!! would have won that competition i mean how can people say they didnt have ne energy... that was the most i had seen them have in many many shows.... i really did think that mtz got robbed.... i wish everyone in here could have seen  the crowd when mtz got done performing becuz if im not mistaken standing ovation from everyone in that gym immediatley..

In my honest opinion, MTZ and Sullivan danced just about at the same level...but it was the vocals that truely made the difference. And as show choir has taught us so often...that more often than not, vocals wins competitions. I believe every group in finals got a standing ovation....it truly was a great competition. Congratulations to everyone.

Sporty,
Thanks so much for naming that group....now I just need to find out what the song is!

Yes! The ballad was from Pizazz and it was absolutely phenomenal. It was by far the best ballad heard all day. It was absolutely incredible.

Yep, that's the one. They were amazing that year as well. I couldn't believe they had gotten sixth at Onalaska when I finally saw them....I think it was at Pekin.

If you remember correctly, MTZ did the same thing a few years ago....getting sixth at Onalaska....then coming back to win almost every where else they went, including Showstoppers.  This just might Sullivan's year.

Was that 2000?? cuz they had a new director!

2001

That was the "Seal Our Fate" "I Still Have the Dream" "This Is Your Time" "Music Medley" "Sing Sing Sing" year. Later on in the year, they ended up beating Clinton at Center Grove, if that tells you anything.
