3rd RU - Findlay.  Man, another really good choir.  'Ed Sullivan' two years ago was absolute perfection.  However, I really wasn't impressed by last years set.  Yes, it was very good, but it was kinda boring (sorry).  You could surprise me at the Classic, but I doubt it against these groups.

Findlay "First Edition" is possibly the most underrated show choir in Ohio. You may have been bored by last years show, but try to tell those kids that their dynamics, diction, blend, band, and dancing, weren't absolute perfection. I think it's wrong that you say that you doubt they'll suprise you against the groups going to the classic. Findlay too, has a GC already won this year @ West Clermont in November. They beat Center Grove, Beavercreek, and Piqua for that award. And those groups could all easily challenge Teays, Twinsburg, or Medina. I think it's Findlay's game just as much as it's those three schools. It's going to be interesting to see who wins Best Vocals, I do have to admit. Teays, Hurricane, Findlay, and Medina are all very accustomed to winning that award.

It's still on for 5:30 tonight. I already know what Hurricane's theme is, so I have SOME ideas, but I need the money to get stuff...

Maybe you guys are right. Again, I say that I have not seen any of the top 4 groups, I'm just going on buzz from this year and the quality of last years show (which, now that I think about it, I shouldn't do because we really sucked last year and we really don't suck this year).

To VarsityChorale, I would never rank my own group at GC for anything. It would be way too presumptuous of me to do that. I figured that Medina must have been really good since even my dad liked them. He hates show choir. This is the first year he's even liked the M&M's. So, for future reference, if you see a group in my rankings at GC, it's not mine!

And Ben, when are we gonna have that freaking meeting about the Classic?! We need to find out colors, themes, get money to buy stuff... oh, these rooms are gonna suck! Grr, I'm about ready to call Pick and see what he says. Yes, I AM that desperate.

Brandon, Emster isn't from Medina, lol.

Kev, I agree with Brandon. You'll be singing a different tune when you see Findlay and Teays. Not even TWINSBURG can rest comfortably

Thanks for your help and,I do think you have the right idea. The one thing people should know about Medina is we are there to have fun! we love being on stage(but winning does not hurt). We love meeting people from other groups so please come and introduce your self to us! That is if we don't beat you to it. I'm looking forward to the great comp this weekend.

GC - Medina.  They are INCREDIBLE this year.  Their vocals are stunning - simply the best choral program in the state.  However, I have not seen them - ever.  I know it may be presumptuous of me to put them at GC, but everyone I've talked to that has seen them has given me the same response - "Wow".  Including my dad, who hates all show choirs except us. Plus, they won GC at both Brush and Central Crossing against some awesome choirs.

1st RU - Twinsburg.  A very, very good group.  I heard that your theme was NASCAR, and that is amazingly creative.  Your vocals are very good, and your choreography is very clean and sharp.  However, the buzz I've heard about Medina undermines the buzz I've heard about you.  However, you are still an amazing choir.  (And I want to give someone else a chance at GC!  Sorry.)

2nd RU - Teays Valley.  Again, an awesome choir.  Still, Twinsburg and Medina have the stuff to beat you, in my opinion.

4th RU - Hurricane.  Definitely one of my favorite choirs of all time.  Beautiful sound, great choreography, creative themes, great costumes, awesome set.  Your ballad last year was simply gorgeous.  You have everything.  Yet, even in spite of my personal tastes, Medina, Twinsburg, Teays Valley, and Findlay will beat you.  Sorry.  But much love to you!

Mentor - You guys are simply awesome.  Our whole choir loves you - hey, we won GC at your competition!  The 'Gloves' song was really funny and well executed, and your ballad was beautiful.  However, I think there are just too few spots in finals for you to be in this year.  You are good enough to be in there, but there are just too many awesome schools here.

There is NO WAY!!!!! that Medina will beat Mentor, Twinsburg, Teays Valley, and Findlay at CC*CUYAHOGA CLASSIC* (when i say beat, i mean GC). Those other 4 groups are amazing, and if Medina thinks they have this one, they DON"T!, and i'm not trying to be mean or anything, but 3 out of those 4 groups also made finals and won GC, except Mentor, but they were in 2nd place at Findlay, and close to winning. Those 4 schools also won with tough competition throughout their groups( other schools) in Finals, instead of 2 or 3 good groups in finals (again, not trying to be mean!) and if Medina does win, i'll be happy for them, but understand this, You as in Medina, need to walk in there NOT OVER CONFIDENT, but have CONFIDENCE. There are schools better, and almost better than you, it's just the truth! I know u think i'm mean or hate Medina, which totally is not the case, i'm trying to help you out. We ( a good majority) walked into Brush, thinking we had finals, but we didn't, we sat in the audience, and watched everyone else, and at Mentor, we were over confident because we were in 2nd, and just breezed through our nights performance, and ended up going down a place. Just know that that can happen to any group, and i understand that u have 2 GC'S, and posibly a 3rd, but don't go in CC*CUYAHOGA CLASSIC* being TO SURE OF YOURSELVES. i hope u don't take my comments lightly, but seriously! Good Luck on Saturday!!!!!

I think Medina's winning streak may end this week

although i am from medina, this may be a very true statement........some of our strongest singers are going to be missing from this competition, and another girl broke her leg the night before central crossing (she still performed, tho), but don't get your hopes up! we're still going to fight!!!

And about "you can't stop the beat" yes, it's crazy and we're performing it......at our own festival that we hosted i think 5 different choirs did that song, and i got sick of it. however, we did change some of the lyrics so don't despair, it's a version you won't hear from anybody else but us. also, it's sometimes interesting to see how other people interpreted the song and put choreography to it and whatnot.

Nonetheless, i am very excited.....last year cuyahoga falls was my favorite competition that i went to. I wish everyone GOOD LUCK and a safe week leading up to the competition.

much love to all!

aww... if you guys don't make finals, you should stay and chill with us! We love you guys

Kev, I think Medina's winning streak may end this week. Findlay, T-burg, and Teays (in no specific order) will more than likely be top 3, although I'm rooting for Hurricane primarily!

Hey, I can finally see Solon!

Btw, let's keep a "You Can't Stop the Beat" count going. I know of 2 (Medina and Dover)

OH! speaking of Dover... watch them at your own risk. Their show is GUARENTEED to be stuck in your head for weeks. It's happened to us, and I've seen it in Medina some too

P.S.:  Please tell me that Medina isn't doing "You can't stop the beat", cause that's definitely what you said!  I hate that song!!  "You can't stop the motion of the ocean or the - "  GAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!  Okay, sorry.  Got a little caught up there.

Hate to tell you but they are. Even though it is one of the most over done song of show choir history they are doing it!

I'm really nervous about this weekend cause it always seems at comps we get stuck in the clump with the 40-60 member show choirs at Ada we went right after or before Teays Valley then I think Twinsburg was a little bit after us so the place was packed!! Now this time i think we perform in the same clump as Poca, Teays, Mentor and Hurricane so once again its like the judges see us then they see poca then Teays then mentor then Hurricane they will forget us so fast might even loose our score sheets!!

Okay so I think places 1-3 are definately Twinsburg, Teays Valley, and then Findlay (in no specific order) then for the other 3 spots it'll be a competition between Hurricane, Poca, Medina, Marysville, Mentor, and Solon. Good Luck to everyone!

To the Emster!
I saw medina at brush and yes they are a very awesome choir! BUT they dont have the vocal power to take findaly and teays! there girls song is very blah and the guys song is hard to hear and you cant stop the beat dies! but highpoints of their show is that there diction is amazing! and there ballad is really well sang too! but still they over all have a very nice choir sound but findaly and teays have the POWER and the sound to overcome medina! oh and dont leave out t-burg! they also have a very LOUD sound but not a great one so medina forsure has there work cut out for them if they are even thinkin about takin grand champs!

You're right about Twinsburg having a loud sound - I heard they have like 60 singers! Is that even allowed? And maybe you're right about Findlay and Teays beating Medina - frankly, I haven't seen any of them this year. I'm just going from everything I've heard about them. And you have to keep in mind that all four could easily take GC. My placements are probably wrong, but I'm positive on the top four groups.

Oh man, this will be the best competition ever! I am going to have so much fun seeing this. Predicting finals will be tough because by my count, there are NINE consistently good schools competing: Marysville, Solon, Twinsburg, Findlay, Medina, Poca, Teays Valley, Mentor, and Hurricane. Also, Twinsburg, Findlay, Medina, and Teays Valley are always winning Grand Championships, so three awesome schools are going to get shafted. Last year, the order was: Twinsburg (who's won GC for the past two years), Medina, Poca, Hurricane, Marysville, and Grove City. So, based on these results and this years turnout, my predictions are:

Now this is where things get tricky. There are five awesome groups left for two spots. No offense to anyone I leave out, but these are just my predictions...

5th RU - Poca. A really solid choir. The 'party' theme was a bit much last year, but I was singing "We like to party, we like, we like to party" for about 11 months. Your vocals are really good, and your choreography was really impressive.

Now, for the other schools:

Mentor - You guys are simply awesome. Our whole choir loves you - hey, we won GC at your competition! The 'Gloves' song was really funny and well executed, and your ballad was beautiful. However, I think there are just too few spots in finals for you to be in this year. You are good enough to be in there, but there are just too many awesome schools here.

Solon - I really do love you guys. Your set is really good this year, and you're all such nice people. However, I'm not sure if you could hold it against these choirs. Hell, I don't think the M's could hold it against these choirs, and that's the truth. It's just another side effect of having only six spots for nine awesome choirs.

Marysville - You guys are really good. You beat us at Central Crossing (congrats), and you have always been a huge contender in finals. But, you are performing at 9:30 in the morning - 4th out of 18 choirs. I have a feeling that you might become a victim of performing too early. Judges tend to score the early performers lower because they want to have somewhere to go for the later ones. If the first choir is scored really high, and a better choir comes along, there's no relevant score they could give them. So, that's my unfortunate opinion of why you guys won't make finals. Sorry.

Okay, guys, there you go. My predictions. Feel free to butcher them as you wish, I would like to hear what other people have to say. Good luck to all participating choirs, and much love to my hosting group, Millersport! I'll see you there, I'll make sure that your room is great!
