I loved every choir I saw... Maybe that is because I am a show choir freak or maybe it is because everyone was really good. I had a great time at the comp and woulda had more fun if I coulda spoke (I had and still have larengitis) and therefore I mouthed the words to the songs. Oh well... I will have to say Piqua- great job!! I do think that they should have been in the class A schools but I enjoyed competing with them. Also, I have to brag... Sorry, but this is the first time in Riverdale history that we EVER had best crew at a competition... Not only in class B but overall. Good Job everyone! *Hehe! We are all sooo proud!* I say that everyone was amazing! If you guys are going to hate a group, keep it to yourself... PLEASE! We don't need fights on here... Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments on our competition, guys! I'm glad it was good for almost everyone! And sorry we didn't have it in a bigger auditorium, that's our only one, and there was a basketball scrimmage going on in the gym up until just before awards, so we couldn't have it in there. I wish it was bigger too, 'cause I only ended up seeing 2 groups (Roger Bacon and Mayfield) 'cause of the limited seating. But anyway thanks guys!

Hi. One quick question for the first few people who posted. Anything good to say about Beavercreek? I mean, I only saw 2 comments that were positive about us, is that it? I know we werent that bad. Overall I thought the competetion was great. Hats off to WC and all the other groups!!

p.s. - that is a cool smiley

I'll tell you what, WC was pretty good. And some things that some people fail to realize, I think anyway, is that show choir is two things working for the same purpose. You have the Show part which includes Choreography, set, spacing, facials, and many more things. Then you have Choir, which is also very detailed diction, blend, balance, dynamics, and many other things alos. MY POINT being that the Show part has much more incorporated with it than the choir part does. Which logic tells me that the Choir part is a little more important. ANYWAYS.

Findlay - I don't know how you do it. That sound you have is incredible. The blend and balance, just amazing. BUT I must say that I almost fell asleep during your show. One reason being that it seemed that every song had the same tempo, same style of choreography, and yes you did have dynamics, but I thought you could have had more. I'll tell you what though, what a Combo. I love your combo. BUT as I said before, it is show choir, and there is a lot more to the show part than the choir part, and you kids have that nailed.

CG Sound System - Great vocal sound, awesome in fact. I loved your acap parts in your opener, and your ballad was really good also. Your choreography was really together, BUT I noticed A LOT of Armography. And while that looks really good when its together, its still kinda boring, I think, because you can only do so much standing in one place and waving your arms. And I really wished that you kids could have a full combo, I have no doubt that your show would improve a lot more. I believe that there is a low-lying, under-the-skin confidence boost when a group has a full combo. BUT overall, terrific show and I can tell you practice hard.

Beavercreek - OK, so so far what everyone has been saying about you kids is that your show is pretty good and that your Closer costumes are "Different." OK, so does every group have to wear tuxedos or suits and classy dresses for their whole show?? I thought their Closer costumes were frick'n awesome and I love the closer itself. I just really wish that you all would sing louder at your loudest parts, I know you can do it, and if you do your sound will improve mouch more. And also your combo is decently sized. Use them, they can give you so much more confidence in everything. And soloist need to get into their solo's a little more.

Piqua - Loved the set and I thought the McDonalds thing was great. Where did you get that song? First of all, Diction, WAY OVERDONE. Yes the judges like that, but you nailed it quite a bit too hard. Great sound, choreography is solid. But for the past few years, I have noticed that the group itself has always had something missing, I really can't describe it, well maybe I can. It seems to me that you lack a certain passion in your show. You have great facials and presentation is fantastic, but there is an element of passion that is kind of missing, and I believe that until you find it, you won't move up. BUT please know that I am not at all saying that you are a bad group or that you don't deserve what you get, I am merely stating that you are awesome, but could be incredible. OH, and I LOVED the beginning of the closer with all the guys singing acap.

CG Debtones - Like some others have posted, I too have a newfound respect for all girl show choirs. Everything you did was just so gracefull and beautiful. Blend and balance was just about perfect and choreography was right on the dot. I just think that there is a certain feeling that comes with a mixed group. A certain sound and quality that you can't get out of an all girls group. But hey, I can see why you are so succesfull and honestly you are better than half of the groups out there. Amazing show and good luck.

THERE!!!

QUOTE(classylassie @ Nov 17 2003, 12:09 PM)
It is so weird to see the "loyalties" so early in the year. What is so very blatant is being able to read between the lines of those that have hidden agendas.

Absolutely hilarious. Please respect each other's opinions folks.

Those of you out there that say Piqua's set is overdone and does not match anything. Wait untill you see Twinsburg's set it as awesome but isnt really needed.

I thought that WC was a great competition. I think that everyone seemed to have a good time watching the other schools' performances. overall i think that this competition was a great experience for me as it is my first year doing show choir. i also believe that it was a great experience builder for everyone.
Findley- i thought you guys had an exellent performance. Your vocals were very good. exellent work!!
CG Sound- I very much liked your performance. i believe you guys put up a good fight to hold down second place. congrats!!
B-Creek- i enjoyed your performance very much. The colors in the closer shocked me at first, but i grew to loving them. Very well done!!
CG Debtones- i didn't get a chance to see your performance and i regret it. i heard that you were awesome and you gave the other choirs a run for their money. congratulations!!
I'm not going to say anything about Piqua because i am from there. but overall i had a blast at the competition. Congrats to all and good luck at everyone's next competition wherever it is at!!!!!!

I never said I hated anyone...I thought that Piqua, beaver creek and sound system all have tons of room for improvement...I never said I hated anyone of them. I just liked findlay more than the rest. And follow my own advice? You were the one that jumped all over me for having an opinion...if you didn't like mine, then fine. I respect that you have different views, and I sure didn't say that "nothing they say has much merit", as you said about me. How bout we just move on. I will say this....center grove on a bad day is still better than half the show choirs out there competing, and I hope when I see their show again this year that I find it more enjoyable...and I'm done talking about it now. Congrats to everyone at the contest and West Clermont for hosting it (although having it in a larger auditiorium might have helped...i felt bad for those who didn't get a seat).

i think the finals at WC were terrible. the overall placement of the schools were not even close to the results of the morning show. but to my understanding you will get different results when you subtract and add judges. however i feel the placement should have been like this...

1st-Center Grove Sound System, overall awesome vocals and a great show
2nd- Findlay- you need to spend time with your ballad, however you also need somewhat of a set. But overall great job
3rd- Definetly Piqua, I do realize that their morning show was better, but they still did better than B-creek. You guys have amazing set. All i have to say is keep up the good work and hang in there your time is coming
4th- Debtones, for an all women's choir you "gals" sounded awesome. the choreo was a tab bit slow for my taste
5th-(last) B-Creek, yes i placed you last because i thought your overall show choir has gone downhill. I am saying that you guys sound good, but the costumes were (how could i put this) different. I am using the word different because i hated them. I feel that the teal pants had trown everything out the door. I did however like the boy's shirts from a far distance away. The set, all I can say is that is was there, that is about it. However it did seem a little Familiar.

DON'T FORGET I AM JUST PLACING MY OPINIONS ON THIS FORUM....

Maybe I am getting the wrong impression or something, but it seems like you hate almost everyone that made the finals at West Clermont...except the Debtones and Findlay, but I guess you have your opinions also.

I really wish that you would read my posts. I didn't have any loyalties at all...and I don't have any hidden agenda. I didn't know there was a requirement for who could attend show choir contests and post what they thought. All of my comments were constructive, and I also remember saying that I'm used to seeing a lot better from Center Grove, as I have seen their show for many years now. And I was under the assumption that this board was for about "spouting off opinions." I never said you had to agree with me, so get over it. I'll say it again...if you can't handle someone not agreeing with you, then you are in the wrong place. Not every review you will ever read is going to say nice things. I think there is room for lots of improvment in all the choirs, including Center Grove. It almst seems as if you yourself have loyalties to the group, considering that everytime someone posts about center grove you jump all over them. If you don't like what someone has to say, get over it and read the next post.
