Brendan-

No apologies necessary! I never realized how many Starfire members are on the site (or maybe, like my kids, they all joined after this past weekend), so eventually, someone posted the results. Honestly, I must admit I thought both Powerhouse and Starfire should have placed higher (but that's just my opinion).

So, my kids just walk around, singing Shakalaka Baby and Chama Chama- I don't think they even remember their own spring show anymore ;)

Oh, and the girls keep singing Stars and the Moon (Jini's solo). I had to learn the accompaniment from the CD, because they wouldn't wait for the Vocal Selections book to arrive.

It was SUPER meeting you and Jen and Mrs. Rago, and it was great being able to give the Burroughs the TOC results during finals. Your kids are pure class!

OMG New York was GREAT! There were a few small problems, but we had soooo much fun. I loved Union high school! They are like the sweetest things in the world along with one guy from Hudson. i doubt he knows this website, but he would know who he is. I had so much fun guys!!! Everyone was totally awesome!

Hey,

I have to apologize to both Sanford and Chase...the usually reliable me totally flaked on calling about the results, among other things. By the end of Saturday night, I was coming down with this monster fever and flu and so I basically just went to bed. I'm still in bed most of the time now.

Congratulations to everyone involved...the trip was AMAZING. I'm not sure what we could do to top it frankly. Now, back to bed.

Alright, I'm confused. Can I say "Welcome back Burroughs!" if I'm in NY?

How about, "Welcome there!"

Oh, well. You know what I mean.

Thanks again for bringing such a wonderful performance to the east coast!

thnx for the compliments crescendo&ccp1. much appreciated!
lol.. just to clarify:

mrs. rago (union) and mrs. rago (burroughs) are not related - just a REAL weird coincidence.

both our choreograhers have the first name "jen" - coincidence #2

burroughs's school musical last year was west side story - so was ours... coincidence #3

mr. rago (dir. of p.arts) and mrs. rago (dir.) are marred

soloist marissa rago - their daughter. lol

and that's a wrap! haha . glad you liked our pictures from west side story . that was DEFINATELY a great production - lost of fun! *i like to be in AMERICA!*

... Riot-

I LOVE your Avitar. ROTFL!

You guys were great, and represented the East Coast well!

OK, my students and I have to ask (cause we're really confused)- Starfire members: Are your Mrs. Rago and Burroughs' Mrs. Rago related, or just an incredible coincidence?

To add to my confusement- I went to your school's website (GREAT drama production photos BTW), and I noticed that the Director of Perf. Arts is Mr. Rago. Wow!

thanks for the compliments, but we honestly were not expecting to win anything.. we really were surprised we made it to the second day, because our show was so different compared to the rest. last year we didnt make finals, so it was nice to perform twice.

powerhouse was amazing; we love all you kids from cali! (and we know you love our "accents" as well! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )

ha, and i hafta agree with patrice on the total swooning over dustin - all of us union chikas wanted to pack him in our suitcase. alex was a cutie too.

Brandon (Crescendo) is right. I had Starfire MUCH higher, stepping it up to another level at finals! Even ENO was spelled right on Saturday!

NEWSIES . ALL FOR ENO

haha . yup that’s us! STARFIRE BABY YEA! hey, we can’t help it. we’re Newsies – we’re not supposed to know how to spell. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

to all those in new york, (especially burroughs), thank you so much for making our second year at showstoppers such a great experience. being able to perform and compete with you all is a great honor. to “barbie& ken” – i have no idea if you’ll ever read this, but just in case you do, you rock! mrs. waldrip, you’re such a doll!!

burroughs - you guys have the most incredible personalities and some extreme, immeasurable talent. thank you for being our friends and ourcompetition for the past four days. it really has been so much fun meeting you guys. good luck to all of you in the future. to the mommies & daddies of burroughs, it has been a real pleasure meeting you and your kids. the goodness in your kids definitely reflects the goodness in all of you.

congrats to jini scoville (first place soloist – burroughs)and melissa abbate (second place soloist – union). it was an amazing experience to witness two great performers stand side by side on that stage. you both did excellent. and to our freshman soloist, marissa rago – i heart you soo much. you gave it your all and i couldn’t be more proud of you. <3

so, to BOTH mrs. Ragos and BOTH jens (choreographers), thishas been a real bizarre experience for you huh? *wink wink* hehe

STARBUCKS was great. they filled all our tummies when room service was closed . haha

okay, i promised myself i wasn’t going to say it, but i will anyway – dustin is SO adorable! oh my gosh.. i think nearly all the union ladies wanted to just pinch his cheeks! (including me..) *blush* ;)

last but not least, to my dear new best california friend:elyse – i heart you! mann there was some drama goin on this weekend, but we held it together. you and that “H” shirt.. and the stories about tommy, jackie, and henry.. oh my wow.. i cant believe we actually have the same birthday. woah buddy.. " border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I’ll miss you. take a road trip with the girls some time and visit me okay?

once again to burroughs – thank you. you’re all incredible young men and women that will truly go far in the world. you may have received 3rd place last night, but in the hearts of the Union High STARFIRE, you’re #1.. right next to us, of course. lol. just kidding! hope our paths cross again someday. always remember: ALL FOR ENO!!!

with love always, patrice |UHSPAC STARFIRE|

I believe he means that Starfire deserved a higher ranking, especially after your Saturday performance.

Nice job, by the way.

I also don't agree with Starfire as 4th runner up (esp. after their finals performance).

Thanks for the info, Brandon.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that a judge's score is just 1 person's opinion, because while Music Warehouse had a better show on Sat., I don't quite agree with them as 1st runner up. I also don't agree with Starfire as 4th runner up (esp. after their finals performance). Just my opinion, your results may vary...

I'm just kinda copying and pasting here from the midwest board...

Advanced Mixed-

Grand Champion- Center Grove "CG Sound System", Greenwood, IN
1st runner up- Edgewood "Music Warehouse", Ellettsville, IN
(Best Music and Best Visual)
2nd runner up- John Burroughs "Powerhouse", CA
3rd runner up- Southeast Polk "RAMification"
4th runner up- Union "Starfire", NJ

Women's-

Grand Champion- Warren Central "Hi-Lites", Indianapolis, IN
1st runner up- Edgewood "Sophisticated Ladies", Ellettsville, IN
2nd runner up- Burroughs "Sound Sensations", CA

I had the pleasure of being in the audience at Showstoppers, and I have to say, it was an amazing performance by all. Sound System did an amazing job, Music Warehouse was a lot of fun, and of course, Powerhouse was wonderful. I really enjoyed Starfire's "Newsies"-themed show, and I'm sorry they didn't place higher, even though I think all of the placings were well deserved.
