This just keeps getting better and better!!!

Typically Clinton does some pretty recognizable songs! Anyone remember any?

All I can remember is part of their opener was DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again by Usher. And their duet was Carry On by Fun. There was a couple on stage singing and also a couple on stage dancing! It was cool.

The amount of talent on the stage yesterday was awesome! I guess I'll give a short run down of each show in finals:

South Jones- I loved your show and what your new director has done with the music program. Your ballad and ballad soloist was amazing and I can't wait to see your show again for the ballad alone at Petal.

Madison Central- I liked your show! Great choreography and my only complaint really was it seemed like you used synthesizers more than the band played. It was pretty cool in some parts though! Great job.

Jackson Prep- Great Gatsby in a show choir show? AWESOME. I really loved the opener and ballad. You costumes are amazing too! This is the best Jackson Prep show I've seen, honestly.

Albertville- You guys really put your all into that finals performance. The ocean in the opening is so cool, and the opener is my favorite song in the whole show! That was my 3rd time to see it and I keep loving it more!

Clinton- Wow. That set. Are those like, HD TV screens? Anyways, I really liked the show but it wasn't the usual Clinton to me. The vocals were more mature than last year and possibly even the year before that, though it seemed to me like the choreography is what lacked more than anything. I realize it was first competition and I may have just been expecting more, I don't know. I also didn't really like that there wasn't that much of a drastic change between the decades when the guy time traveled. Still a GREAT JOB and GREAT performance! Thank you for that. This group can really belt out a song while doing that intense choreo better than any Clinton before.

With all of that being said, after prelims my prediction for finalists was:
Clinton
Albertville
South Jones
Jackson Prep
Enterprise

My prediction after finals was:
GC- Clinton (sweep)
1RU- Albertville
2RU- Jackson Prep
(All very close, probably)
3RU- South Jones
4RU- Madison Central
(Also very close)

The amount of talent that walked across that stage yesterday was awesome!

Congrats to Clinton as always!
Way to go Madison Central for stepping it up and beating out SJ. Wasn't even sure they would make finals, so I think it's safe to say all groups performed their best today. I can't wait to see most of these groups next week at Petal :D

Anyone know where we are on the schedule right now? Obviously at least an hour behind.

How is this competition not over yet?

Most likely because they probably don't time finals... And as a junior high set crew volunteer I can say that the back stage area is fairly difficult to move sets through (the band and set room has standard sized doors and the like)! Everyone's helpful and they are very polite about your time and try to move things along, but it just get hectic back stage typically! Mostly due to building design not orginization on Homewood's part... On top of that Southern High School Comps are all one day so they don't have any other choice that running later and later!

A few years ago the Finals awards ceremony didn't happen 'til 2am.

I am not exaggerating.

It actually does pertain to traveling thru time. The main guy who wears the hat built the time machine and is lost in time and finding his way home.

Clinton's show has to do with traveling through the decades. It's not like time travel but it hits on a few major periods of time.

I'll add to that...

By far the most mature-sounding vocals of the day.

Clean choreography, as always.

Fantastic band to play those killer arrangements.

And some really neat backdrops to accent the time-travel theme.
