I have to say, everyone BLEW ME AWAY at Show Choir Nationals last weekend!

Los Al- You were really really good. Like wow. I really enjoyed the mix of midwest show choir and Cali show choir. It was really palatable to me. The sound was very strong and balanced. The ballad was touching and deep. The show concept was clever and easy to follow! I really enjoyed watching both your performances this weekend!

Burroughs- Your prelim performance was electric. The bird lady DESTROYED everything. EVERYTHING. I loved her. The concept was dark and creepy. You guys totally bought in and it worked. The set was awesome. Costuming was on point, especially the dress. I understood the show, so mission accomplished! Vocals were great, the ballad was fantastic! You guys have an excellent show that you should be so proud of!

Oak Grove- I thought your finals performance was so so clean, and that was the thing I thought needed fixing after prelims. The sound is big, but not harsh. The end of the ballad is a wow moment. I literally was blown away in prelims. The ending pose in the 2nd song is very cool (I think that was Randy). The ending half of the show is just so so fun. It's songs that I love and enjoy watching in show choir. Solos were all fantastic. So so good! I had never seen you before this year and I am just awed! Excellent work!

Kennedy- I saw you guys at preview concert, Linn-Mar, Raise the Roof, Mo-Show, and SCN. The improvement made is inspiring. You guys proved that commitment, dedication, and hard work get you places. The opening was different and somber The ballad was lovely and extremely musical. Your choral work showed off last weekend. Candyman has always been a strong song in my opinion and you guys just rock it! The closer was VASTLY improved, even from Mo-Show. Words were understandable. The band was playing better, and with more attention to balance. Kennedy band scored 2nd out of eligible combos! That is outstanding! The choreography was cleaner. I was shocked at the amount of improvement. You guys deserved to rise in finals so much! Congrats on your successful weekend!

Decatur- Your show is just fun. The choreography is strong, and everyone goes full out. Your band was also strong- the 2nd highest scoring combo overall in prelims. The costumes were good. The little guy soloist at the end TORE THE HOUSE DOWN in prelims. I mean the entire place went crazy! Loved the closer especially! Congrats on two great shows!

Jenks- Your show was well-executed. The choreo was great. The show concept was on point. That male soloist was outstanding! I thought he was going to win an award for sure! Your male sound and performance was incredible! You don't see a group of guys like that too often! I think the early time slot is what ended up hurting you guys It was really close 6-7 and it's really hard to sing at 9 am (we did it the next day lol). I thought you deserved finals! You were fantastic! Great seeing this group live for the first time also!

Madison Central- I thought you danced REALLY well. The show design was good and the set was really cool! Your guys number was AMAZING!!!!!!! Like, high school boys should not be able to dance that well! The accompaniment was really cool in that song too! You guys were REALLY strong! I was surprised at how good you were! Congrats on your high placing!!!

Ankeny- Shout out to our other Iowa buddies! You guys were fantastic! You really get into your performance, which is so commendable! Your vocals are great!!! Huge sound! You guys were dealt a tough hand this year, but keep doing what you are doing! I see so much potential!!!

Congrats to everyone on an amazing weekend!!!

We did not get our packet after finals. However, a picture of it was sent to us, and from what I saw it was done by ranks, not scores. I don't know if judges scored and then it was converted. Someone else would have to clarify! I can't remember all the placings, but I do know:

Los Al got all 1s
Burroughs got all 2s
Oak Grove got all 3s
The judges had the final three choirs mixed up a bunch. All I remember is
Washington got 4 5 6 6 6.

I think (don't quote me on this) I have deduced that:

Kennedy got 4 4 4 5 6
Decatur got 4 5 5 5 6

Decatur- 5 4 6 5 6
CR Kennedy- 4 5 4 5 5

The best male soloist's name is spelled Shawndell Young. Fyi, he is also the winner of the other Best Male Soloist awards Momentum has received this year.

Everyone at Washington had such a fantastic time. From the weather (THE WEATHER!!!!), the hotel, the venue, the sound and lighting, backstage crew, and our hosts, this competition is of the highest caliber, and we feel blessed to have been a part of it!

A really big congratulations to everyone who performed this past weekend! Every single choir brought incredible energy and passion to the stage! I saw all the groups, except South Jones and Martinsburg, and everyone was outstanding!!!

The best part of this competition was seeing the variety of styles each show choir brought and the camaraderie between the groups after performing and during awards.

CE-DAR RA-PIDS!!! CLAP CLAP CLAP-CLAP-CLAP!!!!

Wow. Wow wow wow. This killed. I can say after 2 straight years at this competition that it is the best I have ever attended by far. Running on time, seating ease and space, entertainment, VENUE, whatever, this kills. I of course have never been to a FAME event, or anything out west, but between Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Wheaton, I like this one the most. The Fehr's and all of Clinton are so mature and able to compose themselves to make the entire event phenomenal.

Along with that, the amount of show choir "celebrities" I saw/spoke to yesterday...Just wow. I loved every second of it. I think the results went exactly as they should have, except for maybe Clinton winning

I hope to attend this competition for many years to come!

You definitely sat in the right row!

SCN awarded two BMS/BFS. They did last year as well. I guess there's just so much talent on the stage at SCN that they spread the wealth.

Also, I believe all the other captions have been added now.

Oh, well that's cool! I had no clue they did that!

I think there's only supposed to be one best male soloist... One of those is probably best male performer?
