I am creating another post because my phone dislikes the edit button.

Finals are delayed by half an hour. The finalists I listed aren't in order of performance.

Also, Millard West kicked major butt. They have fantastic vocals and their ballad was killer. Definitely a major GC contender in the western Midwest show choir circuit.

Finalists:
Johnston
Millard West
Elkhorn South
Norris
Grand Island Northwest
Lincoln Southwest

Best Male Soloist: Tyler Cox Papillion-LaVista
Best Female Soloist: Beth Hamilton Millard West

I don't know about any other captions because I left for dinner.

I also don't know daytime placements but I do know that Papillion-LaVista was 1.5 points from making finals.

It appears that blue colored suits are the cool thing to have this year.

Ohhhhhh, that must be what Jeff meant when he said they were going to Mt. Zion now. ;)

thanks Adam. Hahaha

Is anyone going to this one, or will I have to rely on my mother to text me results? :]

I'll be there as well! We have a rehearsal until 1, but I'll be there right after that!

Is this true? Bummer. I'd have loved to have seen a few out-of-state powerhouses at this one.

So it appears that Wheaton Warrenville South withdrew from this competition and is instead attending the Mt. Zion Invitational. Do we know if performance times were changed for the remaining competing groups?

GC: Weaton Warrenville South (BV, BC, BB)
1RU: Lincoln Southwest
2RU: Elkhorn South
3RU: Johnston
4RU: Millard West
5RU: Norris
To me, this looks like a Weaton Warrenville South sweep. We all know how great WWS so I won’t go on drooling about how great they are. We get the picture. Lincoln SW is also a really good group. I know how great they are overall so that’s why I pinned them at 1RU. Before last year, they didn’t compete against many Iowan groups (to my knowledge), so I was surprised to see them jump into the “belly of the beast” at Urbandale (probably the hardest Iowa competition last year). It turns out they did really well there and can definitely hold their own on a national stage of competitors. I’m thoroughly impressed with how they’ve been doing in the past few seasons. Speaking of groups who’ve been phenomenal in the past few seasons, Elkhorn South is a great group as well (Especially since this their 4th (?) year of existence. Their shows are always really interesting (loved mystery date!) and have tight choreo. Awesome group! Johnston, as always, will bring a great competitive set. Very good but will fall just short of the groups listed above. Millard West and Norris are both solid Nebraska groups. They’ll both make finals as they have the past few years. I’m not sure how they’ll stack up against groups like WWS and Lincoln SW. Overall, looks like a great line up of groups! Can’t wait!

haha! so close, Shockwave and The Pulse are their middle school groups!

That's true, but I was speaking only about the high school groups.

Even more cool, Waconia HS in Minnesota has 3 high school show choirs (Power Company, The Current, Illuminations) as well following the electricity theme and none of the varsity show choir names overlap with Elkhorn South. Yay for so many creative, electrical names!

Seriously, Elkhorn South has the coolest names for their show choirs. I thought Blackout and Power Surge were cool, but now Shockwave too? I'm so full of jealousy.

The schedule has been posted above. I know it's early and things may change and I'll make adjustments if needed, but I just got excited for the season to start soon.

Also I assume at some point Elkhorn South will name their women's show choir? Maybe not, but if they do just pass it along to a Crew member or post here so we can update it in our system.
