I think I can speak for Kyle also when I say this: South Dearborn just blew me away. For 29 singer/dancers, truly impressive. They definitely exceed my expectations. We've still yet to see the other big names, but we might be in store for a little surprise at daytime awards.

Predictions:

GC: Clover Hill (sweep)
1RU: Colerain
2RU: Hamilton
3RU: South Dearborn
4RU: Lebanon/Ross

I added Ross in there because our former assistant director is now their director, and he is phenomenal. We'll see how it goes for everyone today!

I can see Colerain taking best vocals, but I'm leaning more towards a sweep.

Teays Valley will not be able to make the trip down to compete today. Good luck to all competing choirs! Can we maybe extend show choir season to make room for more competitions? (:

That's awful... this show choir season has got to be one of the worst in history as it relates to weather.

You should ask your director if you can come out to California - we have major competitions straight through the end of April, and there's plenty of sunshine out here!

Day One Results:
3RU-Kenton
2RU-Edgewood Girls
1RU-Ankeny BV/Best Crew
GC-Edgewood Mixed BB/BC

> Added. Did Hamilton compete and just not place or withdraw completely?

The Edgewood choirs won't be making the trip to Loveland tomorrow. In a related story, winter is the worst thing to happen to show choir.

Sorry to hear that. I've removed the Edgewood choirs from the event schedule.

edit: Does anyone know the results from tonight's middle school competition?

Purely going off of results and who they've competed against, I'm going to have to say that I think Edgewood might take this one.

And I agree with Jeff. Clover Hill is continually a crowd favorite to win Best Combo, and I think will do so this weekend.

I would say more along the lines of this.

GC: Clover Hill BV,BC
1RU:Colerain BB
2RU: Edgewood
3RU: Hamilton
4RU: Lebanon/ Teays Valley

The only reason I say Clover Hill won't sweep is because I remember seeing Colerain last year they were really good! Also Hamilton was really good also!

But I remember Colerain's band was very TIGHT along with their soloists. If I am remembering correctly, Colerain won Best Band and I think BMS here last year. They can pick up BB,BMS, or BFS possibly this year as well.

If you can't tell I get picky with caption awards! I want to try at the most accurate predictions on SCC.

If we're getting picky with captions and accuracy, Clover Hill has to be the favorite to win Best Band. There for a while CH had a streak of 10 consecutive BB captions which was finally broken last year. And even with that streak ending, CH still won BB at Show Choir Nationals last year which is pretty impressive.

Granted, the last time CH competed in Ohio that was when their BB streak ended, but I still think CH is probably the favorite from an unbiased and statistical standpoint.

OH. I didn't realize it was Music Warehouse. I thought it was Choraliers.

I just realized that also. That just made my expectations of a close competition go through the roof...

Just gonna point out that Edgewood, Indiana hasn't lost yet this year.

I would also say that Hamilton has already beaten Edgewood at Piqua earlier this year.
