QUOTE (hvsc @ Mar 22 2009, 01:51 PM) *

Take on the day:

LeMars and Emmetsburg were the top groups of the opening round. CPU and LB bands created huge problems for their groups vocals and diction. Carroll came out flat, and Westwood had some pitch issues (solos) and seemed a little out of it.

All the groups picked it up in the finals- Westwood got it all together and moved up, Carroll really brought it up. Every finals group did better than the opening round by far. As predicted, it was a very even, very close comp.

Hintons parents did a great job and the student hosts were great.
Fun day!!!

Thank you so much for the compliment. Did you see us in finals? Not to be a nag, but any opinion, comment, or even a kind critique is appreciated

Today was the best day of show choir in my four year career. Sadly, it was also my last.

Today was a crazy, emotion filled day. We were so excited to get our 'revenge' on Carroll, after they beat us by 40 points at Emmetsburg. But we weren't sure what to think of CPU or Westwood, who we were told were 'out for blood' after we passed them in finals at Heelan. After daytime results, we were right up in the top 4 mess. They were very, very close. And we had an amazing pep talk before finals, and it was the best show we gave all season. And it showed. We had the whole house rocking.. I've never heard a crowd so loud. It was the best feeling in the world. And I cried. And when they were announcing final awards.. When they said 2RU: Center Point.. my heart leaped.. I was just like. oh my gosh oh my gosh.. and then we finished 1RU.. I was so happy. The best way to end my show choir career. It may not have been a picture perfect ending, but it was perfect.

Westwood -- I love your ballad. I kept singing it, and it made me cry because the lyrics just matched everything that I'm going through. I just love it. I also love lost in the wilderness. One of my favorite songs. You guys are just so fantastic. Mr. Gerking is an AMAZING man who has done wonders for show choirs in northwest Iowa. He's a class act man. It was fun to have a little mini show choir rivalry with you this year But in the end, I started the "Congradulations *clap clap clap clap clap*" cheer for you guys You guys deserved it.

Center Point - I never got to see you guys. But I heard you guys were very good. You guys deserved to win class 3A and I'm glad you did. It was slightly disappointing to see your reactions when you found out you finished 2nd Runner Up, though. None of you cheered, and you just sat there, shocked that LeMars and Westwood overtook you in finals. I can understand, though. Congratulations on an amazing season.

Carroll - I'm not fond of you guys.. lol because of what happened at Emmetsburg Its funny how last year, we beat you at Eburg, and then you beat us at Hinton, and this year you beat us at Eburg, and we beat you at Hinton. I just have to say.. your vocals are FANTASTIC. I was in awe for the majority of your show, especially your ballad. Simply amazing.

Emmetsburg - Again, i didn't get to see you guys It upset me because I really wanted to see the group that belongs to Mr. Fog. You were my moms favorite show of the day (Besides us, of course, but she's bias ) Fantastic job today!

Lawton Bronson - I didn't get to see you guys, either. But I saw you at Westwood when I went to watch. Your guys' show is really fun I also really like your ballad

Other shows I saw:

Hudson: Your guy's show was my favorite of the day. Your ballad was really good. Letters from War is just an amazing song that i LOVE, because of Mt. Zion. The arrangement was weird, but I was expecting a lot worse. You guys sounded awesome and I got goosebumps And your Men in Tights novelty.. FREAKING HILARIOUS. IT was just fantastic

Hinton - I'm obsessed with you guys. OBSESSED. When my friend and I went to Westwood to watch, your parents 'adopted' us, and we sat front row center to cheer for you in finals. And we went all out. I fell in love then, and its grown. I yelled almost non stop for you guys tonight. I love your show. EVERY song. Especially Run Freedom Run. AND your ballad. I just love you guys soooo much.

It was just a fantastic day overall. Hinton was, as always, a fantastic host. Our room hosts were AMAZING and just everything was awesome.

Congratulations to every group

It seems this is gonna be a battle of some of the best 3A schools in Iowa, with the top 2A schools joining in.

I haven't seen CPU but they've won a GC and a 1RU.
Carroll is doing really well, too.

Center Point-Urbana looks like they have had a good year. Has anyone seen them? What are they going to bring to northwest Iowa?

This looks like it's going to be a VERY close competition. If it wasn't so far away, I would love to come and watch. I'm already going through "show choir withdrawl"

Not a lot of action on this topic - it looks like a very even comp. Top 5 picks - and it is a total question mark to the order-

Carroll
Center Point -Urbana
Emmetsburg
LeMars
Westwood

Sixth pick-Hudson, Lawton-Bronson, E'burg Black and Gold-way outside shot

Have fun! Hinton will host a great day!

My predictions for finals (No order)

Carroll
Centur Point-Urbana
Emmetsburg
Hudson
LeMars
Westwood

I think the top four or five spots are going to be INSANELY close.

Anyone else attending this competition? It generally attracts the smaller schools with a decent 3A crowd.

Last year's results:

GC Westwood
1RU Carroll
2RU LeMars
3RU Sioux Center
4RU Hudson
5RU Lawton Bronson
