I just spent a half hour typing what I thought of everyone's shows and everything about the competition, and i clicked submit and it made me sign in again and I lost everything. I'm not going to take the time to retype it now. It just.. no.

Well, its been forever, but I'm going to try to remember what I wrote way back when.

First off, I wanted to say that this was probably my favorite competition to attend, as a spectator or competitor, ever. The ticket ladies were soo nice and I just loved the emcees and their chemistry with the judges (though with flanery (sp?) on the panel, you're bound to have a lot of laughs). I just wanted to say how amazing Tom Gerking is. He has taken Westwoods vocal program and made it one of the best in Iowa, regardless of class size. Their show choir is a show choir that competes with the 3A/4A groups, and they are able to have this competition and have it run amazingly. Its just fantastic. Tom Gerking is a wonderful guy. He's best friends with my choir director, so i've had the chance to see him outside of his choir duties and he's one of the funniest men you will meet. He's just amazing. It was awesome competing against him twice this year

Alright, here I go. (Just so you know, I had a 3rd row center spot for daytime for every group except MItchell, and I had front row spots in finals for every group, too)

Lewis Central - I really liked your second song. I can't remember the title, but it was one of my favorites. Your guys opening suits confused me. They were very awkwardly colored.. I don't think one piece was a set to another part of the outfit, but it worked very very well. I loved the girls opening costumes. Your ballad. Oh gosh. I'm a sucker for ballads, as you will see in these posts. But my gosh. How you live. FANTASTIC. Your finals performance was better than daytime, and you guys rocked daytime. Congratulations on everything. Go Andrew and Amberley

Mitchell - Oh gosh. What to say. I loved your opener and fourth song. I like the boxes that have the steps that come out, clever. Your ballad was very well sung, but there was this boy on a ladder toward stage left that was just too ugly to stand watching ( just playing, Boyce). Your womens ending costumes were, well, lets just say I'm not the biggest fan. Though I don't think anyone really is. I saw a couple girls slip on them, one actually fell during finals. I just think they were distracting and made your choreo look messy. But your show was fantastic. I was happy to finally see FdC.

Gretna - As I've mentioned to Joe many times over text and facebook, YOUR BALLAD YOUR BALLAD YOUR BALLAD. I'm in love with 'Angels'. You guys were very energetic for the whole show, especially Joe. But really. You guys were fantastic and it was awesome seeing you guys again this year! PS.. I really really loved your ballad.

Heelan - Well, being my schools biggest rival, It's hard not to dislike you. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm a heelan show choir fan. I better be, considering I hung out with your groups members all day. Anyway. I love your opener. The vocals are just wow in it. Earth song. Crazy choice, but it works. Your ballad singer.. okay, here's the deal. She has an AMAZING voice. One of the best I've ever heard. But she's so.. boring. She doesn't really put any emotion behind her singing. If she would, I would probably guarantee best female soloist at every competition. She is very good singer. Okay, your girls costume change. I'm just going to say I like them because I am a boy. Draw your own conclusions ;). Heelan, I love your show this year. And your students. Congrats to Tim on best male performer. I love you, Stevi and Jessi :D

Sioux Falls Washington - What to say about you guys. Hmmm. Well lets just say you guys are my new favorite show of every show I've seen in my 4 years of show choir. Your song choices were amazing. Not normal, by any means, but I LOVED THEM. Wake me up was just fantastic. The vocals were amaazing. Your ballad was also wow. I loved it so much. The old lady novelty, well lets just say my friend and i almost peed our pants we were laughing so hard. Whipped into Shape is my new favorite song, but probably for the wrong reasons . But really, the jump ropes were impressive and I just loved every minute of it. And the closer was fantastic and the soloist was wonderful. I sat front row for finals and cheered my heart out. You guys were amazing. I had you guys ahead of Heelan, so did my friend. But oh well. You guys were effing amazing.

Hinton - I'm not going to lie. I'm obsessed with you guys. So is my friend. At Heelan, we didn't get to see your show. At Emmetsburg, I didn't get to see your show. At this competition, I did. AND I FELL IN LOVE. Your parents were fantastic, they actually adopted my friend and I to their cheering section, giving us front row CENTER spots during finals. We cheered louder than your parents Run, Freedom, Run is one of my favorite show choir songs EVER and the way you guys did the ending, just fabulous. Reem. How can a voice so amazingly huge and wonderful come out of someone so small. You're effing amazing, though I've told you that like 5 times over texting. The twin guys with solos, who one happend to be my host at Hinton INvite, were both amazing. I just love your show. At the Hinton Invite, when you were performing exhibition, i cheered super loud a lot. I'm glad I made friends with so many of you. Congrats on a GREAT year. And i hope you're having fun in Nashville right now. I think you guys just got done performing, if I remembered right!

Spirit Lake - Okay, I'm not going to lie. I don't like you guys, Spirit Lake. Mainly because of one girl in your choir that likes to give me lip, so I just hate her, which makes me hate spirit lake. Anyway. I loved your ballad. The ballad soloist, well, she gave me and my friend and the people around us goosebumps during day. Not during finals, though. Sara Hummel.. the soloist for the next song.. Is amazing. Just simply amazing. Great singer, great performer, great everything. I don't get your costumes, spirit lake. I think you've had them since before I was a freshman. Your show has a lot of qualities of a power show choir, but you're just not up there. Also your tap.. Its just. Yeah. Good try. You guys had a wonderful year, probably your strongest in a while. I did like your show. Just not that one blonde girl who's last name is something in a track meet. Anyway. Congrants on a good year. It was fun competing against you twice this year.

Westwood - Oh, Westwood. Competed against you at Heelan where you edged us in daytime, and we overtook you in finals. Competed with you at Hinton, where you edged us in finals to take my dream GC from me. Which i retaliated with a "Congratulations' cheer You guys.. I just love your opener, which wasn't actually your opener during finals at Hinton. That confused me. Lost in the Wilderness is one of my favorite songs of the year. Its fantastic. Its in my head A LOT. Okay, now my real deal. Brave. Your ballad. I bawled. Sorta. When you were performing Brave in finals at Hinton. It made me realize.. everything. The lyrics. My gosh. Gahhhh. Its like our show choirs theme now. "I can't be afraid, it's my turn to be brave''. Hell, its in my show choir signiture. One of my favorite ballads of all time. I love you guys, Westwood

It was an amazing day and completely worth the money.

Although it was a long night thanks to the many ties, and seven finalists, I had a blast watching all of the groups.

Congrats to all of the groups that attended, you all did so well.

Lewis - I could tell you wanted to win badly once you got done with your show during finals. Glad you switched to Stephen!

Mitchell - What a huge improvement from the day showing to the finals show. I wasn't sure if I was seeing the same group. Glad to see Friend de Coup is still as strong as ever!

Gretna - I wasn't sure if it was the same Gretna from last year. I loved the show. So much energy, and great song selections! Good job Joe - Adam - Tim & Matt!

Heelan - Your finals performance was tons better then the day round. I love Earth song, probably one of my favorite show choir songs.

Su Fu Washington - Your show was entertaining. I haven't seen a washington show since I was a junior in high school so.. 5 years ago. I really like Whipped Into Shape!

Hinton - You have improved so much these past year! Congrats on a successful season so far.

Spirit Lake - I haven't seen your show for a long time, but great job during finals! Having a smaller show choir may be difficult, but you definitely did not let that show.

Favorite ballads of the day: Mitchell and Westwood

I am uber glad I came to this competition!

Don't quote me... but rumor has it that Carroll Public has canceled due to the Boy's State Basketball Tournament

Carroll does play Harlan tomorrow at 12:05PM, but its a consolation game (for third place).. So if that is true, that's.. well, i cant think of a proper word here. I wanna say stupid, ridiculous, etc. But i guess for some people, its not. If it were the championship, I'd be the first to want to cancel. But the consolation game? Most people in Iowa don't even care about it. But I did use the term 'most'.

I'm leaving LeMars at around 11 tomorrow. I'll get there between 12 and 1. Can't Wait

My New Predictions:

GC: Mitchell
1RU: Lewis Central/Gretna
2RU: Gretna/Lewis Central
3RU: SuFu Wash/Carroll
4RU: Carroll/SuFuWash
5RU: Heelan

I forgot:

Best Choreo: Gretna
Best Vocals: Mitchell
Best Band: Lewis Central

Also, SF Wash did beat Heelan this past weekend. So it should be interesting between those two.
Carroll is coming off a great showing at Emmetsburg. They beat out a few tough schools to grab 3RU, right behind The Urbandale's and Gretna.
