Best Ballad--Wheaton North, that was beautiful

Right? I really enjoyed their ballad too. It was great. A beautiful blend of two great songs and executed wonderfully.

I watched the feed at points during the day, but wasn't able to for Finals. Very interesting comments and results. Too bad I missed all the excitement.

From in the gym, Waubonsie killed it with vocals!! And their energy was nuts!! Definately surprised though!! Gotta love show choir

I'm quite shocked but I'm also very much aware that a live feed is really only a completely accurate representation of visuals and not really vocals or the band really.

I hope I'm not the only one that is completely shocked about the awards...

But it's okay. Way to go all of the groups! Like I said, incredible overall, especially this early in the season!

Final results posted.

Definitely surprised me!

Edit: Also, for historical purposes, it should be noted that Troy and Sauk tied for fourth, and the tie was broken by vocal scores.

Manteno doesn't have 60 they have 48 that's a typo in the program

Ah, well the host specifically mentioned it, and they looked huge on the stage. But I take your word for it!

I was going to comment on this, too... I think Waubonsie crammed about 50 songs into one as well. I'm not sure what the point of that is, other than to point out the fact that pop music is relatively interchangeable.

Based on the live feed (which, admittedly, isn't always the best way to judge live sound), I'd have Troy in first as well. I thought Wheaton North was great for only being five years young, and I really enjoyed Manteno's energy a lot... though I do think 60 people in a group starts to look a bit crowded onstage. I appreciate schools that make a priority to make a live feed happen, and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Can I just say how awesome it is to have the live feed? I wasn't able to make it to a competition today due to weather but I still got to get my "show choir fix" via the live feed. I've never seen almost any of these groups, but it's still so fun to get to watch a competition!

Most songs in a medley (I feel like every group was competing for this)--Troy

What a great group of choirs! Definitely a close competition.

Predictions:
GC: Troy--BC, BB
1RU: Waubonsie--BV
2RU: Manteno
3RU: Craig
4RU: Wheaton North
5RU: Sauk Prairie

Most songs in a medley (I feel like every group was competing for this)--Troy
Best Ballad--Wheaton North, that was beautiful
Most Hair--Sauk prairie

I know it's bold not to put WV first, but I think (from the live feed anyway) Troy could have pulled this one out. I was impressed by most of these groups. Amazing for this early in the season!

***Don't judge me... I'm not from the Midwest! Lol

Due to a tabulation error, both Hamilton and Waconia will be receiving credit for 2nd place in the prep division, marked as a tie.

Finals:

1. Janesville Craig
2. Wheaton North
3. Waubonsie Valley
4. Sauk Prairie
5. Troy Buchanan
6. Manteno

Apparently Waconia went over by 6 minutes and was docked 120 points for it. I don't know about why Mundelein missed. They got best band.

Holy cow! That's a lot of points to lose over 6 minutes!

Ahhh Wheaton North "Flight" performed "Toy Soliders" AND "No Place Like Home" both by Marianas Trench. I hope they make Finals so I can see that performance again!
