Findlay was only 3.5 points behind Solon in BB in prelims and .5 behind them in finals! So proud of our band!

Thank you all for your support of our 2014 Medina Midwest Showcase. The Medina staff, parents, and students are humbled by the kind response and level of outstanding performance we were honored to host on Saturday. Great performances on the stage led to the close scores we saw in both the daytime and final round.

Thank you to those around the country that checked out our live-feed. We apologize for the ads and the sound bleeding referenced in an earlier post. We seek to offer the show choir world family a high quality, free feed - we hope the nearly 2,500 unique viewers who tuned in had a good experience.

We also hope to see YOUR group here next President's Day weekend. We love hosting groups from around Ohio and beyond (thank you to Nitro for bringing your outstanding show north!) Good luck to you all on the rest of your season.

I'm glad that Medina provided a breakdown on how the judges scored each school for every caption. I was able to see all of the groups that were in finals during the daytime and WOW, that's pretty much all I can say. I heard that each group really stepped it up in finals, however the only group I was able to see both during the day and in finals was Solon and again, I'm speechless. I have to admit, your ballad made me cry. Such a beautiful sound. I wish I was able to see everyone else in finals. As far as Nitro, I just want to say that we were beyond thrilled to be in finals and it was truly a honor to share the stage with so many talented groups. There is so much talent in the state of Ohio.

Also, thank you Medina for hosting one of the most amazing competitions I have ever attended. This was our first time attending and we hope to return next year. The finals awards ceremony was incredible!!! You guys put so much work into your competition, that it's obvious how much it means to you. Congratulations on a job well done and a fantastic exhibition performance.

- Your Showcat Friends

Could Ohio competitions, as a whole, be any more nonsensical? :roll eyes:

edit: for clarification purposes, this post is referring to the SEVEN posts above about caption confusing, not the results.

So we're more captions awarded at night?

No, but that is how the score sheets worked out at the end of finals!

In finals, Solon had best vocals and best band and Findlay won best choreo. ETC walked away with 2nd place and no captions. Very confusing. Truly astounding competition.

Not true. In prelims solon won bv and bb and we won bc. In finals we won bv and etc won bc and solon won bb

Was there and both prelims and finals from just watching stand point was close. I honestly had no idea how this one was going to turn out. One more thing the 4th place group Garfield Heights was extremely good also as were the rest of the groups. The finals were the best I have seen all year and if the winners was any of the top 4 I would not have been surprised. This was one of the best competitions, as far as viewing great choirs that I have seen in years.

There had to be like 2 or 3 points between 1st and 3rd. I wish they would have awarded captions at night because they reflect a different idea of what happened in finals

I agree. It's hard to understand how you win BV BC and show during the day and then tumble from 1st to third in finals?

Congrats Findlay, but I do really wanna give huge props to solon, this is the only 3rd they have gotten since 2011, and they still have the Band streak. That's amazing in itself

That band streak, yes! It's too bad they aren't competing against Clover Hill since they also have an incredible band. Although I guess Solon's band will have their hands full going up against all the other giants at Wheaton next month.

Thanks, Garret. It's been posted above. Congrats to FFE for their first GC of the year! ETC also has back-to-back-to-back 2nd place finishes! I enjoyed watching the live feed today. Great job to everyone!
