On February 28 the West Regional Regional of the William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition was held at the SALT Block in Hickory, NC.

Finishing in first place in the high school division and earning a Superior Rating was Mitchell High School directed by Greg Franklin. They performed Africa and Waka-Waka. Just behind in second place and also qualifying for the State Final with an Excellent Rating was Hickory High School. Lake Norman High School finished close behind in third and earned an Excellent Rating.

In the middle school division of the West Regional, Mt. Airy Middle School directed by Sarah Inman took top honors and earned an Excellent Rating. They performed songs from Shrek: Accidentally in Love, Hallelujah, and I'm a Believer. Finishing in second and also qualifying for the State Final was Mount Mourne School who earned a Good Rating. Statesville Middle School also earned a Good Rating.
