The dates have been different for the last couple of years. In 2006 it was in April then in 2007 and 2008 I think it was both the first week of February and this year it was the last week of February.

i hope they have this competition early in feb next year!

She is GIVING!!! What a voice. She better have her own number next year, it would retarded not to.

I'm thinking she will... She had a duet last year (her Freshman year) in Opelika's female group "Impressions".

Here's a link to the duet... she's the 2nd soloist... I believe

Keep in mind she's only a sophomore, so I think we'll have 2 more years of hearing her sing.

did they go off of these? or was it points converted to rankings? Just rankings? or how did it work?

I love seeing Kevin Butler's scores/rankings after competitions.

I agree! Maybe that's just because he had us 1st at Onalaska

sometimes it amazes me to see how one judge thinks COMPLETELY different from the other judges

Mt Zion- 4,1,1,1,1

Norwell-7,7,7,7,5

otherwise everyone else was pretty close, but what a great comp...

Everyone still got to compete and everyone still got praise for competing, lets just leave it at that and stop complaining because a group decided it was in their best interests to compete in Varsity instead of Championship Mixed...

I had a great time this weekend, how about everyone else?!

No, Loveland didn't deserve their finals bid, because they shouldn't have been in the varsity division at all. It's even shown in this thread that they were originally in the championship division and then dropped for no apparent reason. The varsity division was a joke. It should have been between Whiteland and Norwell.

No apparent reason? How do you know?

How were the daytime performances. Do we know the scores of the Championship division?

Also, I'd like to give congratulations to Jasmine for her "Let It Be" solo. It's VERY good, and she's only a sophomore. I'm glad to see she won that!

Congrats to all groups who received awards, and good luck to all the finalists (especially Opelika)!

Judges were:

Marty DeMott
Linda McEachran
Kevin Butler
Semmon Strawbridge
Peter Eklund
Aaron Wells - EHS Band director (judged instrumentals)

There were a couple others in solos and another judge who's name I can't remember.

Norwell was first in Vocals, all judges but one placed them in 2nd. He placed them in fourth, which somehow landed them in third. It was confounding, honestly. Loveland was good, though, and probably deserved their finals bid.

There were 5 different states represented in Finals, which I think is really cool. That may be sort of common in the MidWest, but it's not that way in the South (usually 2 states... Alabama and Mississippi).
