I think JR has the biggest chance of winning this comp....but there are some def "dark horses" if you can really call them that......CH....possibly Bird...W-C...they all have a chance to place....but i think in the end JR will come out on top....after they have finished complaining about how they were better than CH and Dale last weekend....lol/!...they amaze me....so pias....so aggrevating....it's sad really to think of yourself as unbeatable like JR does....but anyways...i might be up there to holl@ at some peeps...and be there to support....willie....reed....hazara....my boy who has the solo for the 2nd song in CH show...i think his name is Joel? one of the coolest ppl i [email protected]....

I wish that people would stop trash talking James River show choirs. It is ridiculous that people that have know idea how the member's of the 3 choirs feel are willing to make bold references to what they say or how "big-headed" they are. to set the record straight: all 3 of the choirs have worked hard for what we have earned this year and are proud and honored to be thought of as one of the top. We also know that judges opinions are simply "judges opinions" and we don't allow them to drastically change our show as some other groups do. We come into each competition ready and confident and would hate for anyone to see it as stuck-up. We openly congratulate ever group that has placed this season. " border="0" alt="flowers.gif" />

*puts up shield in front of angry mob*

woah woah woah kids.....whoever said anything about hating anyone? hates a strong word. I just said that song annoys me, but im sure a lot of people are annoyed by a lot of our songs--again, its all about what you like--never said anything about her being bad--coming from someone who knows drama, its not exactly difficult to play that character, but then again, it is a character solo. i just am easily annoyed by that character, which should be expected at some points.

sheesh...talk about making mountains out of molehills

i just said sheesh....

the Varisty Drag girl is probably the most goreous girl in show choir in VA, of course someone would hate on her...

Depends, we use Rivar's quite a bit. Barrack is very particular, he pretty much designs each dress himself and just calls and tells them what he wants.

You can't be apples, because I like apples. Anyway, yes our shows are impossible to compare, but calling our show corny was uncalled for. Don't hate on our character solo either, Brittany is very talented, and yes, she is supposed to sound like that for the song. To each his or her own, I suppose

aha, comparing our shows is like apples and oranges (can we be the apples?) we all prefer something different, partially b/c this is how i was raised, this kindof music. Unfortunately, Illusion made the terrible mistake of hiring a certain choreographer, who will remain nameless. She gave us the same number as Clover Hill did two years ago, and totally changed the look we had. I miss the old Illusion. The difference between our Elegance and Illusion show is that the Elegance show (point i was trying to make earlier) is choreographed by current students and alumni--so it has the style we have always had. Whereas Illusion made the generous mistake of hiring this unnamed choreographer who a) changed our look completely b ) gave us a number a school within the same area did two years ago, which we didnt even realize until we got to competitions c) gave us the same color scheme as the other school in the area she choreographed and d) many of the same moves.

pretty disgusting. but thats a completely different rant.

anyways, this bickering is a bit unneccesary, as I assume you both would agree b/c we both have our strong and weak points, and the shows are completely different-not comparable in any way whatsoever. I do like the last song a lot, its very catchy. Bremner is my girl, i miss her! The yellow dresses Highlights wears i love too...beautiful....i just cant stand the girl that sings that Varsity song--i guess youre kindof sopposed to want to punch her in the face tho with that terribly screechy voice? " border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> EVERYBODY!

One more comment, just because your show was choreographed entirely by alumni and students doesn't make it original.

Maybe you have come to a consensus, but sadly, Hanover's show is neither cheesy, corny, nor overdone. Our arrangement of Dreams is amazing vocally and choreographically. The chords build with the line and our 5 part harmonies are beautiful. Yes, your Mr. B is a music genius, but so is ours. Yours can play piano and ours can sing.

Choreographically, our show is very diverse (read: not overdone or cheesy). It's full-out dance, not show choir "dance", and we do more lifts than all the other choirs there this weekend combined.

why yes it is.

corny

adj : dull and tiresome but with pretensions of significance or originality; mawkishly old-fashioned : tiresomely simple and sentimental

seems like we'll have to come to a consenus here...we're both right. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

no, corny is cheesy. overdone would be overused and tired. It's not the song, its the rendition of the song-what you can do with it-vocal wise (where B is incredible at writing music, which no one can deny) and choreography wise , where our entire girls show was choreographed by current students and alumni.

debating is fun " border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

nope. corny would be tired, overused, and disgusting. i've not heard of many show choirs that performed whitesnake, and it adds so much diversity to hanovers show. they are never boring to watch. all that jazz on the other hand, give me a choir that hasn't performed it.

i love their show...vocally, it is performed well every time. however, not a huge fan of their last song. it seems very cliche and corny to me...not a great closer in my opinion, but they're great otherwise.

and whitesnake isnt corny....???

i dunno, personally--i do not like show choirs that perform pop music. strictly broadway for me. but then again, we need to mix it up to have some diversity.

In their rendition of cell block I really liked the jail bars. Granted, they probably could have done more with them, but Lee Davis is definately on the ball when it comes to sets.

I felt awful for Bird, y'all have had a ROUGH year. I think you were distracted because of the events happening before you performed. Solid show though.
