It's sort of hard to make any predictions right now since the majority of the groups competing haven't been to a competition yet. I'm sure Hanover and Thomas Dale are going to be very good again this year.

Anybody know how St. Albans and Martinsburg have done so far this year?

Martinsburg was clearner at Poca than I've seen them be at that time of the year in the past, I think they'll be pretty good come States.

Martinsburg early in the year and late in the year are normally two very different groups...don't count they out because of Poca.

I definitely agree with GAsax27's impression about Martinsburg. Even when I was in the group 10+ years ago, we never had our competition show together until late Feb/early March, and usually didn't compete until late Feb at the earliest.

Unlike most of the groups in the central part of WV, there aren't many competitions Martinsburg can travel to without making it an overnight trip. Plus, performing very early in the day at Poca probably didn't help matters.

St. Albans first competition was this past weekend at Teays Valley in Ohio. They came in fifth runner up overall. Martinsburg was at Poca Music Fest and didn't make finals. That is all I know about Martinsburg this year.

I saw Martinsburg at Poca, they weren't really ready yet. They got 2nd RU in Class A, not sure where they placed over all but it was below 7th. They have a good show and should be ready to go by the time this one comes around.

St. Albans had their first competition this past weekend and placed 6th. They looked and sounded a lot like Martinsburg did at Poca, not really ready.

There are a total of 18 female groups and 19 mixed groups and one more potential mixed to be added. Alot of new faces this year and alot of surprises as this competition grows in participation, innovation and excitement. Gonna be a good one!
