Usually, but not always, when you win vocals, you get 1st b/c the vocal score is so huge.

I'm an alum of Sound FX and I watched a tape of their show. The other groups must not have been very up-to-par b/c they were pretty mediocre. They went back to school and have been tweaking things furiously to ave things ready for friday, and of course the festival.

Highlights is also really depressing. I think this is the worst they have ever done.

Is there any where that I might be able to find a dvd from this competition? A group I choreograph was in this. They got second in their division. Belles of Amherst.

You're right, it was Douglas Freeman that got 1st in the AA. And I completely agree: it was weird doing the mixed Friday instead of Saturday... Oh, are you going to both of the Manchester event's this upcoming week?

were you talking to me? lol.

i might make an appearance.
depends on what time i get off from
work and what time Dale/Cosby/Lee-Davis
go. if i can see all three, i might show up.
=)

if not. i'll be going out to eat. lol.
i know. i'm NOT awesome.

I have no idea if you're asking if I'm going...but yes Menchville is going to Manchester, as well as Hanover and Kecoughtan.

Most of you are in the large category and we don't really see each other. However, feel free to come up to me at a competition and introduce yourself. I'm the director for Menchville...I have red hair and a tendancy to blend in with my kids...lol. I would love to meet any of you!

Ry, we're straight. ;)

I would love to have some help with a show. I really like mine this year, but I have nothing in mind for next year. The shows you have designed are probably more for the larger, well established show choirs. Got anything in mind for a hard working, positive, less established show choir?

Message me.

BTW, the choreography judge was not terribly fond of us.

The critique judge also seemed not fond of us.

However, our vocal scores were much more indicative of what I felt my choir deserved. One judge gave us a 9 for difficulty of music performed. I purposefully picked some challenging pieces this year, and was so glad the judges (or at least one) noticed.

Can't wait to hear the Single-Gender results!

Sorry guys, I didn't mean any offense, now lookin at it, it does look a lil tudy, I apologize.

And thanks, I really didn't have much to do with them this year other than picking songs, which a couple ended up being changed, I wanted a dream theme and he wanted magic, so we kinda blended them lol.

Hopefully I'll actually have more time next year, maybe choreograph some groups again, and if anyone needs a show, let me know, I have 2 amazing ones done and they just need some good choirs that can pull them off.

Also, I know most people are interested in the larger show choirs, but did anyone see Monacan's show? I missed it because we were in critique. I would love to know what they performed.

It's called a score sheet? Is it wrong of me to ask questions because I don't understand something?

I'm sorry I can't recall Thomas Dale's song selections. I watched what felt like a million show choirs yesterday. Their forth song was called "Step in Time", which I remember because another show choir did it, too. James River, I believe...they tapped to it. Also, their closer was "You Give Love a Bad Name".

Did anyone else feel like many of the show choirs, even in AAA looked really small this year?

Ryguy, I really enjoyed Hanover's show. Nice work.

Erynn

PS: I just realized Hanover did win best vocals, not Thomas Dale. The whole situation makes more sense now.
