Well I just thought that Americus-Sumter had one of the most entertaining groups this year....I thoroughly enjoyed it from top to bottom and was actually surprised that they didn't place for the A division. I thought vocals were better than last year and the show was incredible...GREAT JOB!!! Wish I could have seen yall at more comps...But can't wait until next year...!!

I'm not sure if Homewood is on there (cause they were hosting), but all the participants are.

John, Ainslee, and Bobby,

Just wanted to say a huge thanks for your support.  This year was really rough for so many reasons!  A merger of kids from 2 totally different programs, no classroom (we used the library, cafeteria, front lobby, etc) in which to have class or practice, and several other issues that the kids dealt with.  They are pretty discouraged about our scores from both competitions, but since you guys have posted comments they are at least feeling better about entertaining the audience if not the judges.

As their director, I am of course incredibly biased, but I am proud of them and think that they put on a great show.

Thanks again!

Anytime, you are completly welcome! Sounds really tough, but yall will and have obviously made it through ohmy.gif) And tell them to not be discouraged by their scores, it is what- 3 poeples opinions... it really isnt worth it the trouble to get upset over it, just let it make yall better, if they think that they are good then that is all that should matter!!!! Good luck at any further competitions!!

Ainslee

OK...AA DIVISION:

Opelika- 100% improved from Jazz Festival. I was highly impressed. I think yall had a good solid show with good dancing and a strong blend vocally. What can I say... there was just some tough competition. But I think yall will do just fine in Belmont.

Long Beach- I am really glad to see you guys in this division this year. Yall are incredible. Vocally strong and always an entertaining show. I saw a tape of yall at Picayune and seeing yall at Homewood was so awesome. When I first saw yalls costumes I was a little hesitant but i grew to absolutely love them at Homewood. Congrats to the solo winner guy. You have a great tone. Good to see yall and im just glad that im an alum now so i dont have to compete against yall. Kick some ass the rest of this season!

Tupelo- When I saw yall last year i was like wow this group is not bad. But this year i can't express how much energy you generated off that stage. I have never felt that much energy come from a group. Not my favorite group vocally but your dancing kicked some major butt. Again great show and full of energy but work on the vocals a bit. Congrats on your 2nd runner up placing.

Albertville- Everytime I see yall's show it seems to get better. Great job this weekend. Honestly I had yall in Finals for sure. Great job Spencer and Caleb on your solos. Girl soloist were amazing too but i dont know your names sry ;)! James you did an awesome job and probably one of your best shows as far as energy is concerned. Nice solid show. Can't wait to see yall at Belmont this weekend.

South Jones- I was really looking forward to seeing you b/c yall were like the only choir in the south that i haven't atleast seen a tape of and I was hoping that yall wouldn't dissapoint me. and you didn't. I absolutely loved it. Very deserving of a 2nd placing (and word has it that yall were real close to petal in pre-lims) and i know why. Yall were awesome. Always has been a good entertaining show and great dancing but this year vocals were so so so much better than in years past. Great job to all the soloist and congrats to Heather James...for a min. you made me feel like I was in Phantom.

Petal- When I first had talked to Kelsey and she told me yall were starting yalls show out a little different this year i got a little worried. I just wanted to see my usual petal show. But when that curtain opened and I saw the guys outfits I was like "HELL YEAH"! Amazing show. I have decided that your ballad this year is my all-time fav. show choir ballad ever done by any group that I can think of. Closer was amazing...a little sloppy at times but still AMAZING! Congrats to yall. Kelsey as usual your solo was absolutely fantastic!! and i loved the facials..thanks for the winks ;) can't wait to see yall at Petal Invitational!

i think im done for now

OK! So I figured since i was at the competition all day Friday and arrived at 6:00 AM on Sat. morning I'll say a bit...

Amazing job by all groups. It was definitely one of the toughest competitions in all divisions I have seen in a while. If I do recall in AA Division...correct me if I'm wrong but there was only a point seperating Opelika from Albertville and them from Long beach and Long beach was right behind tupelo so it was def. a close one.

Women's Division:
Tallassee Divas- amazing as usual. I love the show and of course Coutrney is my favorite part. Maybe a little less entertaining than last year's in my opinion but still great job.

Tupelo- After seeing yall last year I was expecting something great. And you gave it to me. Thanks!! I sat in front of yall most of the time for those of you that were in the floor and yall were extremely cool and talkative. GREAT show!

Petal- I loved the womens choir. I noticed that I'd seen or heard alot of that show before and it was b/c a lot of it was in Legacy from Homewood last year. So even though I wish maybe some different music it was still incredible.

A Division:
Americus-Sumter- WOW!!! I absolutely love the show!!!!! I dont even know what to say. Honestly I wasn't expecting it to be that good and it was def. in the top 3 most entertaining shows of the day to me. I could do with a little more vocals but amazing job. I think his name might be Chase but damn...great stage presence you really brought the show alive.

Pell City- So much more improved every year. I think yall have a good show and my only real complaint is that i never really feel like I hear dynamics in your show. It's like yall are screaming the words out the whole time. But good job and Congrats on 1st Runner Up in your division.

West Jones- OK!! DEF one of my fav. groups to watch perform. The energy of your group is amazing. Great JOB! I was highly impressed. Awesome solo Dustin!! Great performers and what an awesome and absolutely beautiful group! Can't wait to see yall in Petal. I think I might have withdrawals from your show this weekend at Belmont.

Spain Park- What can I say. Im your biggest fan!!! And Im so Proud that yall placed 1st in yalls division. Yall way way way deserved it. You have come so far this year. At first I would have never thought yall could have pulled it off. Amazing Vocals as usual and this year your choreo. was so clean. I can't wait to come visit and Im really sad that yall will not be competing anymore but way to end this season with a bang. 3-0 BABY!!! and congrats on placing 4th in Finals...what an accomplishment!

OK....so Im tired of typing so let me take a break and ill get back to yall with AA Division!!!!

WoW. i clocked in 36 hours at Homewood High School friday and saturday. dddddaaaaaaannnnggggggg. but it was sooooo worth it.

to the finalists:

Spain Park: i was impressed at how far you've come in the past few years. your vocals will always be amazing.

Tupelo: i only saw you on the tv in the lobby, and its been a while since i've seen you guys(2 years ago- maybe?!). Good job though.

South Jones: you continue to rock. i think your guys number may be one of my favorite show choir songs of allllll time.

Petal: i didn't get to see you because of some scheduling issues and im mad about it. but i'll catch up with you guys sooner or later. (heyyy kelsey)

Long Beach: to my wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderful lovely long beachers... I LOVE YOU. i've been your #1 fan for 3 years and that's not about to change. you are all such sweet and talented people and please PLEASE dont be discouraged. i believe in you and i think you were DEFINITELY shafted, but what's done is done. i cant wait to see you kick serious ass this weekend. I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have to agree with meghan. Petal kicked some major butt at Homewood. All the groups were excellent, especially Pell City. We better watch our backs with u guys, cuz you've given us a run for our money twice.

this whole weekend was awesome. i never expected us to place much less be in the finals at all. that was great and all but even better was getting to meet so many nice people and enjoying others display their talents. i just want to say congradulations to everyone bc i thought everyone did great. i mean i was so impressed with many groups i saw yesterday. and if anyone from petal is a member of this, i really want to know how ya'll have so much stamina. bc i know if i were doing all ya'll were doing i'd probably die. ya'lls show was pretty tight with the cool costumes and this year was the first year i've seen ya'll and it was thoroughly enjoyable. i wish we were going to more competitions this year but as far as i know this is it for us. but if ya'll see gia anywhere try to get her to let us go to some more bc its just fun. have a good weekend!

So I just wanna say that I love Petal's show...much better than last year. I was shocked to see the guys outfits when the curtain opened (in a good way). The whole casual look with the jeans and pink ties was sooo fresh and different. Major props to Ms. McInnis. Don't ever retire...keep directing till you're 90. It's too bad no one outside of the South or Hawaii will get to see this show Live.

P.S. On a side note, the only part of the show I remember caring little for was "Big Time". Would've liked a better sound out of the ladies. That's the only criticism I remember having.

OMG, this competition had to be one of the best! I had SO much fun hosting Pell City (yall r awesome) and just roaming around meeting people!

Long Beach- I sat in your warm up and saw yall perform both shows!! Yall were completly awesome, and I personally completly disagree with your 5th place placing (but, think about it, it was 3 peoples opinions, do they really matter that much) I love all of yall, and yall will always be my favorite!! (John Mc, John H, yall did sooo awesome!!! keep it up!!) I'll see yall at belmont(if I go)/Petal

Petal- OK, I loved yalls show! I sat in your warm up, and yall were awesome, and then I saw your finals performance! You're show wasnt what should be "expected" from Petal, it was new & I loved it! The ending costumes were freakin awesome!! Cant wait to see yall again! (andrew you were awesome!)

Pell-City- Yall are truely awesome, and some of the nicest people that I have ever hosted ( I mean yall made me a cookie cake, what more can I ask) & 2nd place more than deserved!! I love yall and cant wait to see yall!!

Opelika- I didn't get to see your show, but from what i here from others yall were completly awesome & I still think, even though I didnt get to see yall, that yall shoulda made finals!!!

Americus-Sumpter County- I didnt get to see yalls show, but from what i here it was sooo funny! So, I guess that I am going to have to get a copy of the tape and watch it !!!

Tupelo- I saw yall during finals, and to tell you the truth I was thoroughly suprised! I have never really heard of yall, and never expected yall to be SOOOOO good ! Awesome job!

South Jones- What can I say, you're awesome! I love the show, it is SO ridiculously entertaining & the costumes are super awesome! I love it, keep up the great work! (Cody you did awesome, once again)

Albertville- I didnt get to see yall perform, BUT i did sit in yalls warm up! Your show is tons of fun, and SO good, in my opinion you shoulda made finals, but what can you do?!?! Awesome job! ohmy.gif)

WOW, so much fun!!! Incredible weekend, I can't wait till I get to see yalls show again!

Network!! I love yall so so so so much! And even though your performance wasnt the best last night, it was still freakin awesome! When the lights when off and the strobe lights were going, everyone wa freaking out and the look on their faces were priceless!! I love yall, good luck @ Belmont/Petal!!!
