i wish we were coming, too! no offense to the West Jones competition and anyone affiliated with it, but i would much rather go to the Enterprise competition solely to see the Homewood ppl again. They are amazing & its not fair that we dont get to see them again.

The West Jones Competition isn't the same weekend as Enterprise..........

Ok... So i have put much thought into it... and since Pascagoula and Homewood love each other so much they should do a show together...they can meet halfway, and where ever they perform i will be there front and center because they are two of my favorite choirs.. so.. any takers??... I think it's a good idea.. kinda impossible... but a girl can dream.. lol

Why did Petal move it's competition, exactly? " border="0" alt="yeahrite.gif" />

I think I heard that Petal changed their date because it interferred with Beta Club convention in some years past.

Opelika is building a new school.. just during the 08-09 school year, but ever then the construction won't affect the OPAC, or the choir room (or the band room which was used as the girls dressing room). But I'm not sure if they'll still have the competition.

I don't think Opelika is building a new school, but I could be mistaken as always.

I was talking to Gail McInnis the other day, and she said that she was under the impression that Opelika was not going to have a competition this year. Opelika is supposed to be building a new school sometime soon, and Mrs. Rhyne said that they would probably not have the Southern Showcase this year. So, Petal decided that since they weren't going to have PRCC this year, they would just move the Petal Invitational. By the time they realized that Opelika was still going to have their competition, it was too late to cancel.

We need to stretch out the competitions for a longer season (similar to the MidWest's competition slate). It seems like we're saying this every year.

I agree! This is the competition season for this year, as far as I know (I'm pretty sure it's right though...)

January 27

South Jones "Show Choir Invitational" (MS)

February 3

Auburn University "Jazz and Show Choir Festival" (AL)
Picayune "Best of the South" (MS)

February 10

Opelika "Southern Showcase" (AL)
Petal "Show Choir Invitational" (MS)

February 17

Homewood "South Central Classic" (AL)

February 24

Enterprise "Show Choir Invitational" (AL)
Belmont "Music City Show Shoppe" (TN)
North Forrest "Invitational" (MS)

March 3

West Jones "Pine Belt Show Choir Invitational" (MS)

I'd say the official answer is that they're taking the place of PRCC. That's my guess.

But Petal's own competition was just fine before at the date they had locked down. No need to move it to the date that conflicts with Opelika. Of course, I think Petal's old date did confict with Belmont occasionally.

There's no law saying that comps can't take place in January and April is there? We need to stretch out the competitions for a longer season (similar to the MidWest's competition slate). It seems like we're saying this every year.
