I wasn't impressed by most groups that went to Picayune. I went to the competition. I'm not going to say any particular names but some groups shouldn't have made it. I will not say who i thought shouldn't. I agree with jdizzle about the judging was wrong in many areas. I absolutely loved Northeast and West Jones! Awesome job!

i'm also from purvis high school, and the cd has all the songs on it, we used it to practice with monday night, but that's no big deal b/c we held our pose wonderfully! and by the way, thanks to all the choirs that cheered us on during that time! and i agree with everyone on the shout outs, they were a little much, especially since the competition was already running a little behind, and what was with the little girl? did she serve a purpose? " border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> anyways... i want to say AMAZING job to wayne county. i thought your show was awsome! (sorry i'm not complimenting others, but i didn't really get to watch anyone else and wchs was really good) well have a nice day! PEACE!

Sorry, I was the one that misinformed Cody. Drew had it right, but I had been there since 8 that morning and was texting the results to Cody well after 12 that night.

Purvis would like to extend a thank you to Northeast Jones band and West Jones Sassy. They were very kind to us entering and exiting the stage. We also would like to thank Pearl River Central. When our music quit after the first song the kids could here you guys giving encouraging words. That was really kind when it would have been a great oppertunity to be mean.

We also would like to give a congrats to Wayne County. You guys were really great yesterday.

I feel that the shout-outs did make the competition run-on for way to long. So I have to agree with the additional posts on that matter. I also feel that if you are going to host a professional competition you should have professional sound crew working it. Not a couple of high school kids. And for everyone that heard the announcement by the emcee that I brought the wrong CD I want to clear that up and say that it was the same CD that was used at South Jones the previous week. I did not and would never burn one song on to a disc.

I would like to say that the solo portion of the day was very professional and I really appreciated what the judge had to say to the kids. It really made there day!

West Jones you guys really worked last week and it showed. Good luck next week at Southern Showcase.

Congrats to Northeast for bringing home the Grand Champion!
My comments were not meant to be rude or to anger anyone or to start a huge fight. I just wanted to clear the air on the sound issue.

I just wanted to say thanks for all of the nice compliments that were given to us on Saturday. Our kids have really worked hard (as all groups have)!! We had a great time!! Purvis director was especially nice to our kids!! Thanks!! They were impressed with you and your group! Thanks to all of the fans from NEJ and WJ for giving me good feedback!! It's nice for our students to see that in show choir we ALL work together!!! I'm especially proud of our kids, parents and teachers for supporting us!!! Your efforts really paid off!!!

Thanks again!!
Mrs. Pruitt

I would say picayune was overall alright. It could use a lot of work though. There were a lot of speeches, wordy shout outs, and a lot of technical problems that got blamed off on the groups (I am in purvis show choir and i sat there five minutes waiting on the ballad to begin and yet after that it was supposedly our fault for bringing the WRONG CD. Which, by the way, we know is false because we used the same cd at south jones the weekend before!!! jus had to speak my peace on that.) I agree the judging was wrong in areas as well. Maybe it'll improve next year!

I thought it was a great day, but I felt like some of it was drug out way too long. It felt like there was a great amount of unneccesary dead space, though it's inevitable and no one's fault.

I'm extremely proud of my group, Wayne County Orange Sensations! It's only our second year to have a show choir and I feel that we did exceptionally well for our season debut! Thank you, Picayune for such a great starting competition!
And I also felt like every group that perfomed yesterday was outstanding and I hope we all keep up the amazing work! Awesome job everybody!

Just a suggestion for the folks at Picayune... Please don't ever do shout outs again... Yes they make people feel good but they drag the competition on so long!!!

GC: NE Jones mixed
1st RU: West Jones
2nd RU: NE Jones girls
3rd RU: Columbus
4th RU: Pell City

NE Jones mixed and West Jones were separated by 0.4 points...

I'll start off firstly by saying that I disagree with the judges' decisions... I'm not trying to be a bad sport just because i'm apart of the group that got 1st runner-up, but here's my point of view...

West Jones: Just going back and watching film, we were ten times better this week than at South Jones... Kathleen did an amazing job on her ballad solo... I was told by many that we should have won, but who knows...

Columbus: Wow... Definately the suprise of the day... They were fantastic...

NE Jones Girls: They had a nice little show, but by no means were they better than Columbus and Pell City...

Pell City: Before this competition I hadn't seen them since Homewood 2 years ago, and I thought they were pretty good then... Choreography was clean for the most part last night, but the vocals were iffy...

NE Jones mixed: Choreography was very clean (Although not difficult by any means) and they had great energy when I saw them in prelims... I thought their show was... Well... Boring... I also thought that although vocally they had a nice volume, diction was way over the top... I also didn't like the order of their songs... One With Everything should have been the second number, and I think You Give Love a Bad Name could have been better as a mixed number rather than a guys number... It may have been just me, but I thought that Hernando's Hideaway was a copycat of Spain Park doing Carmen San Diego last year...On a positive note, NEJ's guitarist was absolutely amazing...

Now Gold Horizons, I don't mean to be rude... I respect Dr. Myers and all of the members of your group for putting out a good show... Although our schools are rivals, I hope there's mutual respect... However, to me the better group placed 2nd... And I'm not being biased either...

What were everyone's impressions of all the shows today? I'd like to hear a review of some of the new goups that were out for the first time tonight.
